Calling Can-Am league pro is pretty generous. Chris has said himself, there were a lot of years he played for free. He was playing against kids who couldn't get into low A level baseball. It's closer to legion ball than it is to the Cedar Rapids Kernels. Older sure, but throw me into AA as a guy who's older than the rest of the players around him, and to say I would be woefully overmatched is an understatement. That's not to say that Chris didn't get any development during his time in Can-Am, but for the most part, the competition couldn't have been there. I think it says a lot about a guy to make that kind of a jump and still be somewhat successful in his first year in minor league ball. Similarly, he made the jump from AAA to the bigs, and in his second season has found a month of success so far, I hope he can regain momentum in May to continue to be a successful and contributing big leaguer, even if in a platoon.
