  1. I thought Fuld bonked his Mellon on that slide
  2. Boos for Perkins at Target Field... Ominous
  3. Great stuff Brock. Also fun to see your old Rocket Pig monicker on the thread.
  4. Your right Jim, but if we follow Shane's plan for the big leaguers, those posts would be back filled by talent acquired by trade.
  5. I think this is critical, and the main point of the argument for most of the posters here. If getting experience at the bigs is the best way to improve performance at the bigs, and he's better than 4/5 of the major league roster, then why not promote him?
  6. I'm picturing Tootsie, but somehow I picture Gibby in my head as a normal 53 year old guy with a gut and a beard, but in the dress and acting really flamboyant like Dustin Hoffman or Stewie Griffin.
  7. it was a trade, he had no choice in the matter
  8. Well said Nick. The situations with Guerrier, Kubel, and Bartlett also coincide with the discussions on TD regarding player age and rebuilding strategy. In general, this is a rather old team to be in rebuild mode. Hopefully the departure of Guerrier for Pressly signals a youth movement and a philosophy change.
  9. And has had one of the worst rotations in baseball for the 4th year in a row
  10. It's not like this has been a good rotation
  11. I want to go on record as saying "ugh Guerrier" BEFORE he coughed up all the runs
  12. My first game was in the Metrodome in 1986, it wasn't a dump then. However, I didn't notice at the time that the seats didn't face the right direction.
  13. 1334 runners in 1941 by the St Louis Browns according to baseball almanachttp://www.baseball-almanac.com/recbooks/left_on_base_records.shtml
  14. How do you suppose Terry Francona feels about trotting out a relief pitcher that's older than he is"
  15. So the field might change twice but the parking situation doesn't?
  16. For a second there I thought I was reading Twinkie Town
  17. Agreed with Suzuki, but Morales, Nolasco and Willingham are the ideal August trade candidates. Their bloated contracts will ward off waiver claims, and it's late enough that contending teams dealing with injury become a little more "win now" oriented. Those trades usually involve cash considerations, but the Twins have short term cash wealth.
  18. I didn't say they should trade away every good player, just don't over value your best player. Every team needs more than one really good player. If you can turn 1 into 2 and not get significantly worse in the short term, make the trade. Depth is still a major concern, and post season success is further away than 2015 or 2016. Brian Dozier is the best 2B in the system by far, but how much of an impact does he really have? 3.8 WAR in 2013 is significant as an individual contribution, but 4 more losses or 4 more wins makes no impact in the quality of the team.
