  1. Just saw the mlb.com replay of Cabrera injuring his arm on the one handed follow through when swung out of his shoes Ouch!
  2. hitting coach of CR Kernels? http://twinsdaily.com/topic/30062-article-talking-hitting-with-dink/?fromsearch=1
  3. I did not predict bringing back Belisle and did not prioritize bullpen help over hitters
  4. From the Twins release, quote: The problem? He'll need to leave his truck and most of his possessions behind in Detroit when he travels with the team to Cleveland on Thursday night. "I've been [staying] at an Extended Stay America," Belisle said of his living situation the past two months. "One part of it's great, when you have a transition like that, it makes you appreciative for what you had. It makes you look at what's in front of you. It also simplifies your life. "Everything I need is in that pickup, but I can [travel]. I didn't have any excess and I didn't want more excess." End quote Oops, it was supposed to be about the contract... quote: A day after requesting and receiving his release from the Indians, Belisle signed an MLB deal with the Twins on Tuesday, capping off what was a whirlwind 24 hours for the veteran reliever. End quote https://www.mlb.com/news/twins-sign-reliever-matt-belisle/c-280902454
  5. FRE is the closer. Do you put Belisle in as setup man?
  6. if Gordon craps the bed, offer Dozier the QO. He’ll accept it, and now you’ve got your 2b another year to get Gordon acclimated
  7. would your number 3 be “can Molitor”?
  8. I think the pitching Falvine brought in was exactly as expected. This teams pitching went from worst to middle of the pack, a heroic feat. Morrison hasn’t quite delivered, but for 1 year 6 mil, no biggie It’s the players the Twins relied on last year that have not lived up to expectations. Mauer, Dozier, Sano, Polanco and Buxton. I’m not sure how Falvine is the cause of, or have predicted failure/injury with all of those players.
  9. I got wrong too, but my stance hasn’t changed. Per the article, repair has the best long term health prognosis but has a higher rate of short term issues. With the luck the Twins have had lately, he’ll have a setback. https://www.arthroscopyjournal.org/article/S0749-8063(11)00412-9/abstract
  10. The earlier post by Ash mischaracterized the surgeries. It was partial meniscectomy or total. Partial has a much better prognosis with higher likelihood of recovery without setback. Castro went in thinking it would be partial, but required total. I share the concern, and feel strongly Castro should be the plan for backup duty in ‘19 https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/m/pubmed/908700/
  11. If he continues this pace, he’d have to accept the QO huh?
  12. there are a number of holes in the lineup. Polanco is coming back, Gordon could be called up, Escobar has been great! Dozier has been very streaky in the past. There are realistic ways the team can improve 2B/SS with in house options. A RH Power hitting RF would be a good way to improve the hole at CF, maybe Cave can provide a spark... And then there’s Catcher... you just don’t see good hitting and fielding catchers available. That’s what made the Ramos/Capps trade so astoundingly stupid. You can never have too much quality catching.... and the entire org is void of legit catching prospects above low A. If Castro comes back in ‘19 it won’t be full time. Time is right for a big move at catcher. It might not be the biggest pain point in the lineup, but a good hitting catcher lengthens the lineup.
  13. the strike zone was as narrow as the “Cave Connection” that links together the famous Lumiang and Sumaguing Cave https://www.tripadvisor.com/Attraction_Review-g304053-d1656371-Reviews-Lumiang_Cave-Sagada_Mountain_Province_Cordillera_Region_Luzon.html
  14. his OPS in 2016 .886, his OPS in 2017 was .856. 150 points of OPS is nothing to blow off. He could, and has, recover, but he won’t have that type of production by the non waiver trade deadline.
  15. In an extremely small sample, Cave seems to be an upgrade over LaMarre. I hope the FO can pickup an upgrade over both of them
  16. new - Molly covered it in pregame. Sano has been struggling and he wanted to take the pressure off Sano, and keep Escobar and Rosario at the top
  17. you are right, Dozier out slugged Esco last year .498 to Esco’s .449.
  18. Dozier has outhit Escobar by homeruns and OPS and has been absolutely amazing to watch. Escobar is under 30, Dozier just turned 31. Escobar has a higher slugging percentage and iso last year and this year. Escobar is a better fielder and more defensively flexible in more defensively challenging positions. There are a plethora of prospects on the verge of ready to play big league SS and 2B. 3rd? Sano and Escobar are about it, and Sano hasn’t been healthy. Who do I think will be more valuable to the Twins over the next 3-4 years (especially years 3&4)? Escobar, and it’s not close.
  19. this type of trade was possibly the only way JP would ok the DFA
