  1. 4 man outfield of Buxton, Martin, Roden, Rodriguez would be very good defensively with a pitching staff that is bottom of the league in ground ball rate and top in fly ball rate. There is no team in the league where good outfield would impact run prevention more (KC is close 2) Wallner demoted, outman DFA, Larnach DH and 5th outfielder, Bell 1b
  2. Rodriguez has a .900 OPS in AAA. There’s absolutely a chance he’s better than Wallner. Even if he’s not, if they don’t change anything on the roster, they won’t get better.
  3. he started it in 2002, not exactly the pinnacle of interest then either. 24 years later maybe some wisdom with age would come then again...
  4. This season and this transaction shows us exactly why relievers are not as fungible as Zoll thought they were...
  5. Absolutely agreed, much better to see what you have in Keaschall than a retread. But they should have dropped him down the lineup weeks ago
  6. Leading off gets the most plate appearances over the course of the season. Buxton leads the team in PAs and is third in OPS. That’s increasing the number of chances to score runs. My gripe is that Luke Keaschall is second in PAs with a .629 OPS, and Bell is third Wallner is fifth! And Martin is 7th who has an .889 OPS and is the second best fielder on a very fly ball heavy pitching staff.
  7. no wRC+ is a league wide stat. Today at 50 plate appearances in 2026 there are 45 primary 3b. Tristan Gray’s 96 is ranked 20 of 45 (right around average) Royce Lewis’ 64 is ranked 36. In other words there are 6 teams (including the Twins) with two primary 3b with 50 plate appearances better than Royce, and if all of the 3B players were evenly distributed he would be dead last as a starter in 2026. Since 2022 there have been 46 3B including Royce with 1000 pas. His 106 over that time ranks 13. Since 2024 there have been 28 primary 3b to get 800 pas, his 91 wRC+ ranks 19. the since 2024 one, feels like who he is, below average, not awful. If they give him enough PAs this year, he should come back up to the 85/90 wRC+ range.
  8. Santiago Espinal - I would take Tristan Gray over him.
  9. Remember last August when all the dfa fodder trotted through the mlb relief corp? This is the cost of that decision. Until this team starts to invest into the bullpen by actually signing good relievers and converting some of the starters to relievers, we’ll continue to watch more dfa fodder throw more slop. now they haven’t tested enough minor league depth to feel comfortable with their starting lower depth and can’t yet afford to convert starters to relievers because there’s still 1,000 innings to pitch this season. but next year it’ll be different I’m sure!
  10. The “what if” scenarios in the potential future state are making a new concern out of an existing concern. What if your designated starter craps the bed? Today, bring in the long man. Tomorrow ask your piggy back to come in earlier. Tomorrow, what if your piggy back craps the bed? Either a bullpen game or slide the schedule forward. For the next game, make a call up from AAA if needed. If this is a deployed strategy, you’ll have depth to call on same as today. What if you have a very good starting pitching prospect who can perform a traditional starter workload? Today, great stick him in the rotation. Tomorrow, great stick him in the rotation. This reminds me of Moneyball for pitchers. They’re experimenting with building a Skubal in the aggregate.
  11. This could be the year where the winner of the central is below .500… but agreed, 1981 is a good comp
  12. Cost us extra innings. Frankly it’s mercy only having to go 8.5
  13. I mean, should a team with an effective $70m payroll (excluding Pablo and Correa dead money) have any quad A players on it? They should all have an actual future on the roster past 2027, yet here we are watching Clemens and Gray…
  14. I believe I mocked another poster for suggesting moving Lee to third and bring up Culpeper to play short.
  15. Guys with a 7 something OPS getting more at bats than guys with 5 something OPS is a good thing!
  16. https://www.msn.com/en-us/money/news/concessions-workers-at-target-field-overwhelmingly-authorize-strike/ar-AA22r1os according to this it’s pay and benefits. As the other poster mentioned Delaware North is the employer. Delaware North is the Food Service Concessionaire. All of the stand branding and menu is done between the brand owner and Delaware North. Red Cow is the logo and recipe, Delaware north is the beef, heat, and flipping. Delaware North buys the food, pays the cooks, and has a huge logistics network. Think about how much refrigeration is needed to feed 20,000 people just one night. That means Nightly deliveries, moving pallets and pallets of food and beer 81 nights per season all over the concourses. its hundreds of people, most of whom work before and after the game.
  17. I started visiting every ballpark, but about half way through, in the aughts, several teams got new parks and then I had kids, and now I’m lucky just to get to 10-20 Twins games
  18. Target field is my favorite. second Favorite Miller Park (Am Fam now?) Milwaukee. Great views, roof closes, great food. Biggest knock is the highways land lock it, so even though it’s down town, it feels suburban. I understand there’s highway moving potentially happening, it’s been a while… i hate Wrigley Field, or to be more specific, the fans at Wrigley. The ballpark itself was a dump, but charming with the rooftop bleachers, the food sucks and so do the fans. As much as I hate the Pale Hose, the South Side fans I respect.
