  1. Twin Cities: Pizzeria LolaChicago: Giordano's, or Gino's East depends on my mood
  2. According to Wikipedia it weighs 100 short tons or 98 long tons. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cloud_Gate
  3. The Twins petitioned for and were granted a 4th option year for Vargas. I did not see the same for Kepler. Eligibility does not necessarily mean that it was granted by the players association. Maybe it was and I missed it.
  4. also, a number of people from the old regime are still in the ranks. It takes time to assimilate or jettison those people.
  5. hes been on the 40 man since 2014 season. He's out of options
  6. Mauer's OPS is better against righties .793 to .610 vs lefties. Hes my pick for most DH at bats this year at 350. Pretty quickly Park will make his case to get added to the 40 and play a big chunk of first base, but still get 200 ABs at DH
  7. if Liriano came up w/ Thorasic Outlet Syndrome, yep I'd call him worn down. Age and innings are two components, and illustrated very well by your posts here that there's correlation, not necessarily causation, and that there's more to the miles argument. One component is injury rate, type of injury, recovery period and reparation. TOS and taking out part of a rib to improve circulation seems like a "you're getting old, let's see what we can do to extend your career". Maybe some day it'll become a more clear cut "fix" like Tommy John Surgery. When Tommy John had his procedure done it wasn't exactly a perfect success, it took a few tries. Best case scenario for Hughes, is he extends his career a bit. His circulatory issue isn't really "fixed" it's mitigated. As to the CC comp...CC started much higher, there's more room for struggle and still be better than alternatives.
  8. im kinda baffled Hughes isn't starting the season on the DL. By accounts he's been shaky and low velocity
  9. remember our wager on beverages over 13 pitchers? I do.... And I love Surly
  10. of 14 options for 12 pitchers on the opening day roster about 4 of them SHOULD be plan A.
  11. agreed, but I can see a scenario where Haley and Wimmers are both in long relief based on how Falvine feels about the roatation. Maybe not opening day, but short starts and taxed bullpen with no optionable pitchers loom on the horizon.
  12. if these guys can't stand out on the worst pitching staff in baseball why bother?
  13. i would maybe look to have Buck or Park hit 3 and Sano 5. Otherwise I really like these lineups based on OBP
  14. last year he had the highest OBP on the team. Of any stat for lead off, that's it
  15. 2015 was also the return from suspension mid-season. When everyone else is already at top speed it takes a while to catch up. My recollection (cuz I'm too lazy on Sunday morning to look it up) was Santana looked bad his first couple starts and the pitch forks and torches were out in the forums here. By the end of the season TR looked like a genius. I'd guess a more studious fan could chart his OOZ swing rate by start that season to see well below career at the beginning and well above at the end, average 20% because he didn't have enough starts raise the average up to 2014/2016 is levels
  16. it seems like a better arm would allow Polanco to play deeper in the hole to take better advantage of his range, which would i turn give him a little more slack. He seemed to play up so far that there was no margin for error. Tough to live on the razor's edge. Is he still playing up along the base path this spring?
  17. "The aggregator" quoted this article. Fun to read it here first https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2017/03/twins-news-jay-veterans-stubbs-breslow.html?fv-home=true&post-id=87636
  18. that would make the small side of the platoon even less effective if Giminez is the battery mate for Mauer and Castro - unless Kepler or Sano were 1b against lefties. I would buy into this scenario though with the logic of considering Grossman a DH and not an outfielder. Then with Stubbs as the 4th outfielder and the depth is very secure in the OF.
  19. With the questions at pitching and SS I don't see this team carrying 5 outfielders on the active roster. Not sure Stubbs goes north opening day or how long he sticks out AAA.
  20. replacing May might mean adding a pitcher to the 40 man roster as well.
  21. thanks for sharing. I didnt really get it, but appreciate your expertise
