  1. Fair enough..................For me, Berrios is not off the books , I like him, but I am not sold on anything more than a #3 upside for him, but love his competitiveness, and will probably be proven wrong.
  2. Houston has 2 good 3rd basemen prospects(Moran, Davis) in their system, and really none other than Correa at SS , altho they could pick one in this yrs draft................but would you trade Buxton for Sano if Sano didnt play for us??? I dont think so............................And Gordon is probably about the same prospect status as Houstons 2, 3rd base prospects. But i like these kind of ideas, but I am shooting this one down
  3. I like this idea, if it is for something we need for next yr and beyond, like a top notch defensive catcher with some offensive upside. I am also happy keeping him, if we think we can win in the next couple yrs with him.
  4. Plouffe would be worth alot with how he has played defensively and offensively the last 1 yr and half, so if he keeps this up, he could return a piece that is missing for the future, like a catcher........catcher is our true weak position on this team, other than bullpen, and we can build that from within, IMO................Not advocating trading Plouffe, we have him for 2 more yrs, if we want him, and we might be able to win in that time frame.
  5. Short term???? Hamels(31 yrs old) has 3 yrs left after this yr, and i agree that the Twins have never done something like this, but they had never signed other pitchers to 4 yr $50 plus million contracts, never have had a cupboard full of prospects, so they might do something like this if it wasnt a 1 yr idea, and again as i stated before, if we cant do something like this with an elite P, without giving up Buxton or Sano, i wouldnt do it........I like Hamels partly cuz he has no injury history, but I am open to people putting out other ideas, and or if people think staying put is good or not...............when i originally put this out there, back in April it was just a what if, now still might be what if, but in another month or so, it might be REAL
  6. Well , I am in the camp, IF ,BIG IF, we are in the running to win a division championship, not just a wild card, that I would be willing to part with anyone other than Buxton or Sano, if that cant get a Hamels type pitcher, so be it...........but i dont want another pitcher that is really no different than what we already have a surplus of, a #3 or #4, which is what Kazmir is.
  7. ok, that makes a big difference........then i am 100% in on Kepler as the choice
  8. Always optimistic, before season i was hoping for .500 ball, now i will almost be dissappointed if we dont reach that, but these last few weeks have been fun
  9. Well my hope going into the draft was Bregman, Tucker or a pitcher who wasnt Aiken, so I would hope Bregman drops, but would be happy with Tucker too.
  10. Thanks for the list, most or some of us know the top top players, but not the rest, would be nice to know all of their positions without going to another publication
  11. For me a definition of an ACE is someone that is better than good during the regular season and consistent, and/or is able to step it up a notch in a BIG game or postseason on a regular basis. True Aces are few and far between, the word is used to much, but i also know that all teams call their #1 an ace for their team. I may miss some but true aces, or soon to be are , Kershaw, Verlander, F Hernandez, Greinke, Scherzer, G Cole, C Archer ,Harvey, Bumgarner, Hamels, Cueto, Price , might be missing someone, but their is not many more than that, and maybe even one or two of these is debateable
  12. Seth, I like your answers better than mine, but I might have been on the low side, but I think you are on the high side, i was questioning my Berrios and Kepler percentage, but also i was looking at injury possibilities too that can derail a career.
  13. Just curious, was Milone up for this award? If so, had to be a tough choice
  14. Now that we are a quarter of the season in, are we a contender? Would anyone that posted change their mind on anything?????? For me, I am a fan of Hamels in his ability, and now instead of thinking what our team might look like with him, now i am thinking, maybe we could be good with him.........Now I am not saying trade for him today, but come July 1st and we are in the hunt, I would be open to it, since we would be buyers then.........but what would you give up to get a pitcher like him???? When i started this thread, it was unrealistic to be contenders, and i was just throwing it out there to get some discussion, and maybe it is still unrealistic, but getting closer.............................do we ride out the year, with what we have this yr, and then go for it next yr??? We should know more about our prospects then, being one yr closer to the show............I know alot has been said about Twins not doing this kind of deal, but again we have never had this many prospects in the pipeline before, and the FO is starting to show a willingness for 4 yr contracts, and for me, if we are a contender, I would be all in for Hamels...............throw out your ideas what you want , if anything , or stand put.
  15. Well , Hughes , Nolasco, and Gibson are in the rotation longterm, barring trade........so Mays and Pelphrey in my opinion will have a rope of 2 bad starts, but 3 in a row would and probably should require a change, if it is Pelphrey, I wouldnt mind him in the bullpen. And if May is strong for another 3 or 4 starts he is in the rotation for the year......so again barring trade, Milone might be the odd man out when Santana comes back even if Pelphrey struggles, IMO
  16. It would be nice to be on the other end of trade ideas , if we are in the hunt come end of July and end of August
  17. I still think Pelphrey, ends up in pen or is traded if he has any value. 35 games is still 7 starts each, injury or poor performance will still, most likely, be the reason for movement in the SP rotation...................We have a good minor league system, so if we cant get a decent return for ANY of the players, I would rather keep them if we are in a playoff hunt as depth, than lose them and then need them and not have them. We do have players for trade bait if they feel they are a player away from competing for a Championship, but , i think , like most we are a year or maybe 2 from really being a World Series threat.......but make the playoffs and you just NEVER KNOW!!!!!!!!
  18. Hey if anyone see this post, how do you do a partial quote???
  19. I am more intrigued by Oliveros than anything, mostly cuz he does throw hard, but i really dont know much about him, but Thielbar, Darnell are not Major leaguers on a good team, they are on mostly because they are LH..............Fien will never be known as a closer or in waiting, doesnt miss enough bats.............we have alot of fat to trim on our roster when needed.
  20. I certainly dont mean in a meaningful fashion, no different than the 91 Twins, they brought up Lenny Webster, Paul Sorrento, Carmen Castillo, Jarvis Brown.......every team has players like that...........but overall I agree with you that good teams, dont use players like that on a regular basis, but nothing is wrong with rewarding players who play well for you in the minors , with a Sept call up.........r we good yet??? We will know in another 5 weeks.
  21. Is Santana soon to be sent down, if Escobar can play like this??? Not that he did much, but they want him in the lineup and i dont want him in LF, and Santana is struggling.......Polanco is more than on his heals for playing time at the MLB level.
  22. On a different note, i hope for at least a cup of coffee for Beresford and Ortiz from AAA, I understand them not being called up at any point, but I like to see those who are succeeding at that level that seem to have no prospect status get shown appreciation for their play.
