  1. Not sure what you mean by bring off the bench, as a backup??? If not, we have a couple of players that have potential to be Jim Thome lite, Arcia, Sano, Pinto maybe, Vargas........and others with some pop.
  2. Jimbo, I didnt think Walker was a bad outfielder??!!! I havnt heard that, but may be so............my opinion is that the strikeout rate will continue and to me his high K , high homerun hitter, might hit 30 HR's but strikeout 250 times, BA of .210...............for Harrison he may not be a great player, but his floor to me is .250, 5-10 HR........I just think that Walker is more likely to flame out, but i am hoping for Giancarlos Stanton lite ......................................................................and DMAN , have you seen Collabello??? raking in Toronto, he might not be great but if he plays the whole yr, dont count out 15 HRs and BA of .280 or better, i like him also, but we did/do have replacements for him , i hated seeing him not get a real chance to play healthy here last yr ,for the full yr.
  3. Maybe it is his personality, but Arcia grates me a bit with his nonchalance, when he missed that flyball , i think against Detroit in a tie game, it turned the game around, and it didnt seem to bother him(altho it probably did).........like Hicks, maybe if he is sent down(for a short time), he will get the message he needs to play hard ALL the time and that he is not good enough defensively to just show up and get the job. Tough love like they did with Hicks
  4. Well Walkers ceiling is higher, but Harrisons floor is higher, IMO..........to me Walker has a higher chance of flaming out compared to Harrison, but the potential is Walker is alot higher too..........Harrison is a personally one of my favorite Minor League players in the organization not named Buxton..........but i have alot of players i am really following this yr, the Minors has been very fun to follow this yr, the pitching is SICK!!!!!
  5. Maybe someone can answer this , once the season starts , if the player is cut, isnt he still guaranteed his salary(or a percentage) for the yr, or is that only for those with a certain amount of service time???? And or multi-yr contracts? I believe if tendered a arb contract in spring, and cut during spring training they get like 45 days, but i dont know what Robinson situation would be.........With that said , he isnt be cut, just wonding about people in his situation that are. Thanks
  6. I will give my 2 cents.........................Just reading stats and how the player played last yr in Elizabethton and getting a promotion to Cedar Rapids, I would guess Max Murphy. Batting .390 last 10 games avg to .259, that is my guess .................oh yea, i forgot Trey Vavra, 1st Base hitting .327, I would have guess Tyler Kuresa was better, but stats are not showing it.
  7. I agree that both Trout and Cabrera are better, but Boras seems to get top dollar for his clients, and Harper , if he becomes a FA will have all the top dollar teams after him, like Trout he makes you a ton of money on marketing, love him or hate him, everyone who barely follows baseball knows him.........I dont know if anyone has a better known name in baseball right now and he is 22........Kershaw maybe, Trout of course, soon to be Harvey, maybe i am missing someone, give me a name or two other than that, if there is anymore ........Sorry if moderators read this, this has gotten off topic and be my last on this part of the subject
  8. Well generally the more yrs you guarantee, you can get by with less avg annual salary, not always, but usually .......I mean , Stanton got a great deal, cuz if he gets hurt he is guaranteed $325M and if he is great he gets to opt out after 2020 to make even more money. Crazy!!!!! isnt it......... If I am Washington Nationals, i am signing Harper to a 16 yr contract for $400M, but he would turn it down, he has Boras as an agent, and i bet he will command $40M a yr on FA market in 4 yrs........he will be a FA entering his age 26 season.
  9. I will say , i am excited about the possibilties of LF Rosario, CF Buxton, RF Hicks, or if not Hicks, Arcia. 2016 Lineup. 1 Buxton 2 Dozier 3 Mauer 4 Plouffe 5 Vargas or Arcia 6 Rosario 7 Suzuki 8 Hicks 9 Santana Bench: Escobar, backup catcher, Robinson
  10. Little out of context as i was responding to someone saying he isnt part of the future, when all i was saying is he or someone like him is needed on a team to fill the 24th or 25th man role. But I also understand that he doesnt need to be evaluated.........I will go on record and say, that I thought bringing up Hicks at the time, was slightly premature(i was wrong, way premature) but I thought he would develop while being given time at the MLB level, he didnt...........But now that it didnt work, i am more than happy for him to regain confidence before returning to the majors, if it is next week or middle of June, i am fine with it......I just want it to be for good next time he is up......I think we all want the same thing, just we differ on how we start or get there
  11. But Trout is going to make $33+M in yrs 2018-2020, and i dont think any agent is going to let Buxton sign past his age 30 season without it going to at least age 36........and i agree i dont want to be paying a player past his age 35 season big bucks, but to get him for ages 31-33 you will have to pay out to at least age 36 if not more. And if Pujols and Cabrera are any indication, Buxton, as well as i am sure Trout will want a 10 yr contract at the age of 30, for what will be at least $300M. If Pujols can get $240M , Trout and if Buxton is what we think he might be, they will get $300M.
  12. But I see him being owed about 44 Million the next seven yrs with inflation , if he is as good as we hope he will be.........3 plus yrs at $.550, Arb 1 at $7.5M, Arb 2 at $11M, and Arb 3 at $22M, but hope that will be moot point as I hope we have a 6 yr extension at that time of about $150M, in the Trout price zone, hope that seems more accurate to you Tobi
  13. You are right, I was just trying to go by memory, but i looked it up.......I thought that the Angels had signed Trout pre arb, but they didnt, so I would hope we go about it the same with Buxton, sign to contract for a yr or two in FA yrs and then hope to extend with 2 or more yrs to go when you know what he is.
  14. And why cant Robinson be part of the future, not all players need to be 28 and under........but i do understand we have a plethora of outfielders in the Minors, but most of those if they make it , we want them playing everyday, if we have a 5th outfielder I have no problem with a guy like Robinson.....I like having a roster spot for someone who has to play hard every second of every minute to keep his roster spot, ala Little Nicky Punto!!!!
  15. I personally dont see a correlation between Hicks off on Sunday and the Twins having Monday off..........my opinion Hicks wont be up till June 15, or till when he finishes season his service time is less than 2 yrs, as of start of season his service time was 1 yr 67 days. I am happy with Robinson, and temporarily satisfied with Schafer, I do hope HIcks comes up and never looks back, but I am in lets wait till at least June to make the move.......My guess it will come just after draft time, when some moves internally from all the teams in the Twins system are made. JMO
  16. Sleger is tentative , because of a possible injury?????
  17. I think more likely a Trout type of deal, after next yr sign him to a 6-8 yr deal in the neighborhood of $25 Million per yr(end of contract age 28-30) and hope to sign to an extension with a yr or 2 left in the $35-40 million a yr range, that doesnt exceed his age 37 season. IMO
  18. Well he has brought in Perkins in the 8th a couple times, he seems to let the pitchers pitch past 100 frequently, his 25th player doesnt play much, he uses the shift alot........I think he is much more progressive than Gardenhire, altho i wanted Mientkewicz, I think Molitor has done a commendable job, and Gardenhire had no fire in him at all, it was/is nice to hear a new voice, I am sure for the players too, IMO
  19. No that was Mauer's second contract, he was coming off a 4 yr deal. It was after his 3rd yr and he was up for Arb that they signed him to a 4 yr $33 million dollar deal. Then signed his extension in Feb 2010 for season 2011-18 at 23 million a yr.
  20. I dont post much , because after every few days things change in our minds and sometimes our hearts, but if i posted how i felt everyday, i would be so wishy washy, going back and forth, like may of the people i read comments from...............i like to take a period of time and comment , usually. Give a better perspective of what is or what i think is really happening.............I will say, we are playing better, hitting is really coming along, thinking it is contagious............but i didnt and dont expect this year to be special, I was and am hoping for a .500 season, and if we go beyond my expectations, then I will be ecstatic.........but no grandiose ideas of making playoffs here, prove me wrong .............................Remember a year or 2 ago when Plouffe had that monstrous month of HR's , was it a dozen???? He looks looks confident and we have him for 2 more yrs if we want to pay the Arb prices he might demand, 8 million next yr??? 12-15 million the yr after????
  21. LOL, did anyone else hear Dick Bremer give the defensive lineup, the screen had Robinson playing CF and 2nd base, and Dick read it as shown on the screen, we know Dick can read a screen , but you would think he would realize the mistake of his own team........but i guess he is like our players, good enuf , but wont make any all star teams.
  22. Wish the manager would send a message, take Arcia out of the game, he nonchalants(sp?) all the time, he and the team are not good enough for ANY of that, SEND A MESSAGE Molitor!!!!!!!!! Errors are part of the game , but not that kind of error, Im PISSED!!!!!
  23. Since we ground into seemingly multiple double plays a game , when we DO have runners, why not safety squeeze a run in or try, if not for the error and bobbled ball, the last 3 batters all would have hit into a double play.........I definitely like Molitor, never was a fan of Gardenhire, but it is pretty much same old same old.
  24. I see I could get Legend section seats, with access to the Legends Club Lounge , has anyone tried this, I am looking to take my elderly father, and I think he might like this, but is there anything to know before going into the Legends Club, so I or we wont feel out of place??? Thanks
  25. What is the status of Wimmers???? He hasnt played and they have already used 6 starting pitchers.......just curious, i was/am hoping for good things for and from him.
