    Luke has been 5 - 15 in last five games and his average is rising. Too early to list him in this article. Brooks at third looks like a good move. Getting Culpepper up soon sounds good too. We need defense.

    Caratini was in the wrong. Clean good play - a runner is not obligated to slide, but the catcher is not supposed to block the plate. Sorry to see that - Caratini has to clean that up. Otherwise great game.

    Great to see Amick going well, I made the mistake of writing him off this year. Lawyerson looks like he needs a lot of rehab - his production at St Paul has not been good. And we have figured out how to fix Wallner and Lewis - just have them start against minor league pitchers. And I want Jake Higginbotham with the Twins so that I can struggle with spelling his name all season.

    When I see Lewis, Wallner and Sano in the same article it makes me think about how many exciting prospects have fizzled. Thankfully you also mentioned Buxton who finally seems to be a healthy star. Noah Miller was going to be really good, but he is really gone. Chase Petty is with the Reds, Aaron Sabato is no longer thought of as star potential, but he is in AAA and doing well. Keoni Cavaco is so gone I cannot remember him. Trever Larnach is finally showing his skills and will probably be traded. Brent Rooker was first round with Lewis and he has become a very good player for the Sacramento team. Then there is Kirilloff - a real estate salesman, Tyler Jay, Nick Gordon, Kohl Stewart, Luke Bard. But we did hit with Berrios - now a Blue Jay and it was the same round we took Buxton. In 2011 - Boyd, Michael and Harrison - three picks and we wiffed on all of them. The draft before we took Wimmers. I will end with 2009 when we got Gibson - not a star but a good pitcher and Bashore (who?).

    Too early. I am intrigued by Gonzales, I like the young arms - not SWR this year, I look forward to seeing more from Rodriguez and Jenkins. The trade deadline is not until August, the team has to keep moving pieces around. My regret is that we will lose Jeffers to FA. If I examine this list from a FA standpoint Ryan and Jeffers are the most obvious. Keep Martin, keep Buxton. Where is the trade Larnach voice that dominated the off season? Royce and Wallner are not trade pieces. They have no value now. I expect that Wallner will be eventually DFA'd.

    For me the key for young players is to put them in the lineup immediately and let them have at least a full week

    At this point I hate to see Royce come up so quickly despite the roster - make some more moves Twins.

    I am curious why we hear so much about Tait and not Diaw. Diaw seems to be doing really well.

    The fact is we are already stretched in at catcher if Jackson can't bet and somehow we have a 14 million dollar contract for carotini who is batting with a 50 OPS to pair with hom. That is stretching the catcher position as thin as can be and the fact is we don't have anybody ready to come in next year when Jeffers leaves on free agency.

    Arcia earned the promotion but Culpepper will be up before the end of the year I believe. But it raises a question for me. I see other clubs bring up young players who have some struggles but seem to overcome and progress. But we seem to have the promote and flame out - Lewis and Wallner, promote and injuries - Lewis and Kiriloff, looking like a star and then struggle - Keaschall. Lee is the opposite - he started low with lots of criticism and seems to be growing as a player. Please explain - we have so many with such good potential but we have not had as much success as I would like to see from prospects. If they prepare Culpepper right I will be delighted.

    Too early for me to get excited but we need some catchers soon.

    fascinating - I would have preferred Culpepper coming up, but glad to see Lewis going down with Wallner. Topa was a real disappointment, but there are a few more RP that can go as well. Arci did earn the promotion.

    Jeffers injury will give us a chance to see next years catcher tandem of Caratini and Jackson I would think. Hope they pass the audition.

    No - Boras still knows the value of a catcher and the Twins probably are not going to offer a Mauer contract.

    Didn't Ryan and Prielipp get Ober's memo - if you are going to win with this team it has to be a shutout.

    We have plenty of underwhelming players - keep making changes until we have the best available on the roster.

    All the comments cover as much as you need for such a poor game, so I want to pose a different question - has ABS hurt SWR? If he is not injured, I do not understand what is going on except that ABS has shrunk the strike zone for a pitcher who works around the edges. Last year I did not understand what happened to Ober and I am really pleased with his work this year. He has figured out his pitches and the zone - what can be done to bring SWR back? Other other side Lewis and Wallner certainly have not adjusted to the small zone - losing his position to Grey says all that is needed for Royce - when does someone take Wallner's position?

    I love it and as an old guy I still prefer the baseball of the last half of the last century. It was so good to see a Warren Spahn go a full game or more, to watch Nolan Ryan throwing his fastball for nine instead of 5. Relief pitchers in that era were nice - Hoyt Wilhelm, Don MacMahon, etc, but the rest of the BP was just what it is now - guys not good enough for the rotation who could be fillers if needed, but were not counted on for 40% of innings during the year. Thank you Ober for an old-fashioned ball game.

    This is getting silly. I am not bashing him. But look at his baseball Reference page. I hope he does well. But his era is 4.91 in AAA and 3.50 in AA - he may have talent but he is not at a level that I want from a top 20 prospect yet.

    How great to go back in time and see actual pitching. Does anyone remember Stu Miller - slow and slower?

    As much as all of us hoped he would reach back to the initial success the time is passing and the results are dismal. Not sure a few days off is sufficient. If someone comes along who can produce the team has to move on.

    I do not see it. Maybe we don't have that many good prospects.
