  1. Yeah, but Hawk provides such good thread fodder. (silver lining, baby, silver lining)
  2. Admit it, you're into seeing baseballs abused.
  3. I'm hoping we see the Sox repeat last year. Sox fielding was so dreadful last year it made for much merriment in game threads. Anyway, under.
  4. .285 batting average with 23 home runs. (starts going the other way more at the expense of power)
  5. Under. Too much age in their starting lineup.
  6. Very interesting. I still find it amazing that Mr. Kelly spends that much time with minor league players.
  7. I know this is the perception I have and I cannot believe we're the only ones.
  8. Well, that tweet along with the recent nonsense regarding a move to the bullpen isn't endearing to MN fans. I tend to think MN fans are much more forgiving of a players failings than a lot of MLB fans. However, it is a two way street, in that a player also has to show he is willing to put forth the effort to earn the respect of the fans. Beyond a certain point, a player needs to have success in order to maintain the respect of the fan base. I suggest that as of right now, Mr. Nolasco is on probation, at best.
  9. Eh, strikeouts are fascist.
  10. Seth, thank you for taking the time to respond. I appreciate it.
  11. I'm going to stipulate that Arcia proves that he is a plus outfielder and can really run. Wasn't the knock against him a perceived (or very real) lack of success against left-handed pitching? Also, what do you think of the possibility of a right field platoon in order to bring Sano along slowly? To be honest with you I did not expect Arcia to emerge like this. It makes for a fun Spring Training, does it not?
  12. Well, considering kidnapping is considered a vocation in Venezuela, staying in Ft Meyers might have been prudent to begin with. Anyway, it makes one wonder who the odd man out might be in the outfield. I think some skepticism was warranted, because how many times have we heard about someone "working out diligently" and "in the best shape of their life" only to see the same old same old?
  13. Is Arcia on a mission? I've long thought Arcia could be a good outfielder but speed and Arcia in the same sentence? Is the Florida sun getting to you, Mr. Bonnes? Are you feeling well? Remembering to hydrate?
  14. You're more in tune with these things than I am. I'll take your word for it.
  15. I get that. Let's hope Nolasco turns things around. And, let's hope the Twins dump him if he doesn't.
  16. Seth, my problem with the Nolasco outing is the abject failure of the last two season. I sort of expected he would show up ready to prove he wants to pitch in a Twins uniform. Nolasco was not exactly facing Boston's "A" lineup, either. I am more than willing to cut Rogers some slack, due to age and inexperience. Nolasco, no.
  17. Funny, I was thinking along the same lines. If Nolasco has a horrendous spring and still makes the team, I won't be happy. I think Nolasco should be let go if he shows he's still the same pitcher the Twins had last year. The Twins can lose just as easily with younger better yet untested arms.
  18. So far, Escobar has shown: 1. He makes the plays he should. 2. and has a competent bat. Eduardo appears to be something the Twins have sorely lacked at the SS position these last few years: reliable. Not flashy, just a steady presence up the middle. Every organization needs those kinds of players.
  19. I think that's a somewhat negative thought in and of itself.
  20. Bill, Cuddyer bounced around the infield before being moved to right field, where he did a pretty darn good job. Perhaps the Twins have decided to avoid that mistake and make the move now? Anyway, it's entertaining to talk about and it may yet turn out to be a train wreck. (speaking of train wrecks, the thought of a Buxton/Sano collision should keep Molitor and Ryan up at night)
  21. Being a stand-up guy cuts both ways. Gonsalves kept his mouth shut while his "friend" let him hang out to dry. This has nothing to do with smoking pot and everything to do with integrity. Gonsalves appears to have integrity. Pot smoking buddy? I'd say "no." Severity of punishment has nothing to do with doing the right thing.
  22. I don't want people to think I'm down on Stewart the person or anything like that. The area of risk is wound/post surgical wound management. Diabetics just don't heal as well as other people and are more prone to infections. Those are my real areas of concern. I grew up with and had close family friends who were diabetics. That was when I first found out insulin isn't a magic bullet that allows one to live their life just like anyone else.
  23. I am not a fan of this signing, at all. Type 1 diabetes is not a joke and the risks involved for the player and the organization are enormous. People are under the impression that as long as Stewart takes his insulin, all will be well. That is far from the truth and I'm astounded the Twins took this kind of risk.
