As I have posted elsewhere, I think the Oakland Face-Plant factored in the trade deadline non-moves. Had the Twins taken care of business in Oakland, which they should have, there might have been more done at the deadline. Right now, the Twins are still in the process of figuring out what they have and if what they have is enough for a playoff drive. There is a youth movement that looks promising and also needs to know what it's like to be under pressure to win. The team needed to step up against a bad team and, instead, fell apart. I didn't expect the Twins to be in it in August this year, but here we are. Next year, though, there should be enough experience and pitching for the Twins to make some noise. I don't think this year is the year for the Twins to really go for broke. Next year, though, I expect more. Contention next year is sort of expected. Contention this year is a bonus.
