    When I wrote touch 'em all Trevor May I didn't mean Trevor was supposed to allow opposing hitters to touch 'em all.

    Yah, well, when you reach my age, 40 will be your "wonder years." As in "I wonder why I still did stupid stuff when I was 40." And then you'll realize it couldn't have been all that stupid because you're still around to think about those salad days.

    I have to wonder if multiple factors are at play here. 1. The league has figured out Mauer and adjusted accordingly. 2. Mauer has not made or is unable to adjust his approach to hitting. 3. The concussion suffered has played a factor in the precipitous decline in Mauer's ability. For what it's worth.

    Don't make promises you cannot keep. It would be like me promising that I would never pick on anyone again. Fixed it

    Just as it used to be that I cringed when a ball was hit to Trevor Plouffe, I also cringed when Mike Pelfrey took the mound. Neither one of those things is true this year. I think this last start plus the two starts against Boston is probably a sign it is not a fluke.

    I'm starting to think that if Mike Pelfrey continues his run of success and the Twins are leading the division at the trade deadline, Mike Pelfrey cannot be traded. If the Twins truly are trying to "win now" the Twins cannot afford to get rid of the guy who is the staff ace this year. The Twins cannot continue to "build for the future" because the future could very well be this year.

    One thing that has not been mentioned is Paul Molitor and his base running philosophy. Molitor tells his players to take the base(s) they are given and then try to take more. From what I understand, Molitor wants his players to run hard for the given base, which puts pressure on defenses to get the ball back in. It also puts the base runner in position to take advantage of a defensive miscue or lackadaisical fielding. How many times in the past have we seen a player all of a sudden realize he potentially has an extra base, but because he didn't run hard for that first base, he lost his chance? It's all well and good to talk about clutch hitting, but if players are not doing the things that will put them in scoring position, there is no clutch hitting.

    If Pelfrey continues to perform, he will earn his two year contract in 1 year.

    2 bizarre things happened last night. 1. The Twins won a low scoring game. 2. The pitcher on the mound at the time was Mike Pelfrey. Huh? It is all well and good to pound out a lot of runs. However, at some point, the Twins need someone on the staff to step up and go toe to toe with the likes of a Clay Buckholtz. We've not seen that happen for a while. I, for one, plan to savor last night.

    Perkins definitely. I think Dozier has earned an All Star nod. Plouffe is getting there. Plouffe is a complete player at 3B who looks to only get better. Which is kind of scary, considering how good Plouffe has become.

    Meanwhile, the legal drinking age in MN when I first moved there was 19. Changed to 21 during my tenure, though. Yeah, I'm that old.

    Are we talking day and month, or day, month and year? (I'm guessing the latter) Legally changing the birth year would also impact the legal drinking age. Sounds like a concept.

    Please, that could be anywhere in the Upper Midwest, including MI. I left a car on hwy 62 due to a blizzard. Was not a fun walk to shelter. Fortunately, the plows didn't hit the car, though it was neatly plowed around.

    Someone is leaving ND for Michigan? Why? Okay, granted, Michigan is probably a bit warmer in the winter. (although, -20, -40...it's all cold) But still, ND seems like a pretty cool place to hang out. Although, I hear good things about the UP. At times I miss Minnesota. And it did cause me amusement when Mom called me in December to tell me how cold it was in CA. Another chuckle worthy moment was telling my brother-in-law, on Christmas Day, that it had turned really nice, 28 degrees, sun was shining, new snow on the ground, etc. I'm pretty sure my brother-in-law thought I was insane.

    I like this years Twins due to the fact there are options in the system that can be brought up. In fact, there may even be a surplus that can be traded for a need, which is cool.

    Wow. Can you see it? Nolasco gets DFA's and Milone recalled. It's not like anyone will pick up Nolasco due to his contract. (Unless DFA means the Twins eat the contract no matter what)

    I think the Nolasco signing was an attempt to make the Pelfrey signing look like a bargain.... In all seriousness, I'm seeing too many excuses from Mr. Nolasco which I think contrasts with Mike Pelfrey. Pelfrey, to me, seemed like he was always out there pitching his guts out even though he stunk. I just do not get the same vibe from Ricky Nolasco.

    Nick, I think you're underestimating the contributions Mr. Nolasco will make to team ERA. A higher number is better, right?
