  1. I liked the rant! Definitely too much hyperbole around here (TD land) but maybe the rant is misplaced here But phrases like "Most hated players" are hyperbole. Yes, Nolasco had done little before this year to show he should be a starter over some others on this team and Arcia was horrific at times last year but I still loved and believed in Arcia. I love the enthusiasm, the passion, and the talent. Here's to hoping he has harnessed it!!
  2. Great read, thanks for sharing
  3. Are these not stats you would expect from a bunch of young guys? Pressing with runners in scoring position? Without even looking, I bet that's when the K % rises as well...
  4. I was being a little snarky and sarcastic this morning. I do not think a lot of people have realistic expectations on how to run the team. Way too many knee jerk reactions around here this year...
  5. I will take Cedar Rapids hitters but be patient with me getting them up please
  6. And let's not forget what May did as a starter last year! Starting Rotation: Berrios, Meyer, Duffey, May, Nolasco Bullpen: Milone, Hughes, Abad, Pressly, O'Rourke, Fien, Jepson
  7. The past week has shown that we could be in for an interesting ride this year.. To recap, Kepler comes up sooner than we expected got fewer at bats than we wanted and went back down Buxton was sent down because our offence wasn't performing and HE was not performing well with the bat Arica 2014 seems to be back Joe Mauer 2010 seems to be back Duffey, Berrios, Meyer are up, Santana and Gibson are hurt, wait, that's still one too many starters... Jepson is not closing even though he's the closer Santana back to center? David Murphy is coming up, no wait, he went home... How many pitchers are we carrying? Sano is at third? Hicks claimed by Detroit. It's still April? So, when the dust settles on this year, where will this roster be? I think there are going to be a few trades and some flat out cuts and I look forward to the ride. I especially expect our bullpen will be VERY different!
  8. What I really don't like is now we will lose our prospects to promotion. I was thinking of taking the Cedar Rapids hitters...I am just not sure I am committed enough to do a decent job for all of them.
  9. I think Wade needs to go up a level sooner than later based on his hitting. He's putting up video game numbers again but that would mean moving other pieces higher up the food chain who may not be ready for those moves. Scouts really don't seem to think he's going to be able to continue to hit at higher levels. What does he need to do to change those reports? Seeing him thrown out going from second to third with one out and no one on first Saturday made me question his base running. Is that an aberration for him or is that an area he needs to work on?
  10. Arraez did not stand out to me good or bad but considering his age for level and the handbook predicting he start in Elizabethton, not standing out to me in one game early in the season is just fine! He is definitely advancing quickly. (Edit: he was 3/4 with a double but his stroke compared to Wade or Murray, the sound of the ball off the bat, etc...he didn't stand out but he looked like he belonged) Stats so far this year are real nice 7 Games, 26 AB, 9 hits, 1 2B, 2HR, 346 avg, 393 OBP, 615Slug, 1.008 OPS He will be on my radar from now on. Thanks for pointing him out Diehard
  11. Went to a Kernels game today with my wife and another couple. The line up included the following players. I thought I would throw in my observations of a few... Sean Miller hit a nice long ball and just kept getting things done Luis Arraez LaMonte Wade Did a lot of good things including a stolen base but was thrown out at third on a ground ball to short, no one on first and only one out. Still, holding his BA over 400 is pretty solid. Zander Wiel AJ Murray Threw out two base runners and was a presence at the plate Lots of solid hard it balls. Bryant Hayman Manuel Guzman looked uncomfortable at the plate Max Murphy Christian Cavaness The pitchers were Sam Clay Logan Lombana John Curtiss Clay did not seem impressive yet he did not give up a run and has a 0.00 ERA in 11 innings so far. His fast ball was topping out at 91. His off speed stuff kept the hitters off balance enough to get the outs including a few Ks and he had the cool demeaner to work his way around hits Lombana loaded the bases both of his innings but also did not allow a run. He looked real rough and he beaned a couple. Not a lot of control tonight. Curtiss looked like the real deal. His fast ball topped out at 94. He worked fast and was efficient. Batters were uncomfortable and he wasn't afraid to come inside (He beaned a guy with a 92 MPH fastball)
  12. I think we should give specific dates and see who is closest. I will go with May 1st (AKA Mayday)
  13. I couldn't have said it better myself...
  14. It's about fielding the best team but before the MiLB draft, a lot of things will happen and it will be fun to read all the reactions here. With so many "Prospects" we have the club that can trade for a real MLB piece without hurting our future significantly, But I am sure every move will be met with cheers and complaints. Game on TD!!
  15. Well, I hope three of those predictions are correct...
  16. PS, good luck and God Bless your next adventure Tanner.
  17. Tanner tweeted today that he is leaving the Twins organization. I did not see that anywhere else here. Does anyone have the rest of this story?
  18. Personally I lost 3 pounds over Thanksgiving (not sure how) gained two before Christmas, lost 5 between Christmas and New Years (this confused me too) gained 3 in Jan., 3 in Feb. and held even in Spring Training... On the other hand I prepared for a transition to the outfield by playing basketball with my homies 3 days a week.
  19. I think everyone else was talking about DANNY not Ervin... JK mate...
  20. This means he already passed through waivers doesn't it? It also means we have a spot open for I assume what would be A reliever.
  21. MLB trade rumours reports Strong to Rochester opening a 40 man roster spot http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/minnesota-twins
  22. If Ricky Nolasco makes the starting rotation I will turn on the game in the fifth inning every fifth day to see how our long reliever is doing.
  23. Berrios, Vargas headline this bunch reassigned or optioned to the minors http://m.twins.mlb.com/news/article/167999400/twins-send-jose-berrios-to-minor-league-camp "Minnesota optioned Alex Meyer, Kennys Vargas and Jorge Polanco to Triple-A Rochester and reassigned Berrios, Nick Burdi, Aaron Thompson, Stuart Turner, Mitch Garver and Joe Benson. Berrios, the team's No. 2 prospect according to MLB Pipeline, is the highest-ranked prospect in the bunch."
  24. Milone: what does he have to say to those that question his ability to be an MLB starting pitcher based on his fastball velocity and strikeout numbers May: On a scale 1-10, 10 being extremely happy, how does he feel about being a starter? Same question RP. Murphy: what are the pros AND cons of coming over to the Twins organisation? Park: what's the biggest adjustment he has had to make to baseball in America? Jake Mauer: which 3 CR players of 2015 would he predict makes the MLB roster first?
  25. SSS no kidding... 9 AB, 5 hits including 2 2B and a HR leading to 5 RBI AND 2 runs. It's a nice start but nine AB is what, two games? Kids had two great games! Still, nice pickup for a position I considered a weakness to shore up last October.
