  1. The song in my head is Mariah Carey singing All I want for Christmas is Yu
  2. I believe with our call ups and signings the bull pen is there already. With a decent rotation in front of them, they could be really good (if used right and not over extended)
  3. Looks like we signed Brock from the Phillies...
  4. But some of those prospects are MLB ready (as he said) and some can be used to trade for the other holes your filling when packaged with the prospects we already have . In the mean time Otani has been signed or Darvish or both without breaking the bank or handicapping future extensions. I see the plan and I like it but it would be hard to get all these birds to land in one nest.
  5. Quoted from Twins website: Organizational All Stars https://www.milb.com/milb/news/stephen-gonsalves-john-curtiss-ready-to-contribute/c-261941320 Shortstop -- Jermaine Palacios, Cedar Rapids (62 games), Fort Myers (62 games): Palacios rebounded from a poor 2016 at Cedar Rapids, adding almost 100 points to his batting average by hitting .320 with the Kernels and nearly doubling his slugging percentage to .544 -- numbers that would have finished second and first, respectively, in the Midwest League over a full season. The No. 25 prospect in the system, he had a tough time adjusting after moving up to Class A Advanced Fort Myers but still hit .269 and stole 11 bases, and if his personal history is any indication, he should take a step forward in his second tour of the Florida State League next year. "We feel real good about the [shortstop] position. We added [top overall pick] Royce Lewis, we have Nick Gordon ahead of JP and we have Wander Javier who's just now getting his feet on the ground in the states," Radcliff said. "We've got a lot of guys with upside and ceiling, and [Palacios] had the best year of all those guys. He did the most damage offensively and continues to show that he'll be able to stay at short, which was our concern."
  6. In the AFL Wade has appeared in 19 games and registered 63 at bats. He has hit 238/351/413 with 3 doubles a triple and two homers. He stole one of two bases attempted and struck out 10 times while walking 9 times. Wade has shown an advanced ability to hit and get on base. He is able to extend at bats and draw walks while limiting strike outs. Wade is also solid in the field. He has played all three outfield positions every step of the way but he is primarily a left fielder and projects to be a corner outfielder at the highest level in the near future. Next Spring I expect to see Wade invited to MLB camp for a few weeks. He will return to the minors but will move up to AAA and begin his push for a call up. I would expect that to be September or when an outfielder Goes down with injury.
  7. Wades AFL and 2017 seasons may be over after an outfield collision resulted in him being carted off. See discussion here http://twinsdaily.com/topic/27978-lamonte-wade-injured-in-afl/ Thankfully he has been released from the hospital without spinal injuries but he does have a concussion. I will try to post a wrap up on his season and next seasons outlook by the end of the day. God Speed Mr. Wade. Hope to see you healthy, happy and prosperous in the spring.
  8. I see arguments for and against all of these and I see arguments for others to be included on this list as well. I always have a bias towards those closer to the majors so I lean Gordon from your list. He is the most likely to make an impact at the majors based on skills demonstrated and nearness to actually making a debut. I will be disappointed if he does not get his first taste some time next summer (same with Gonsalves) I do not think he or Gonsalves are close to the most potential though.
  9. Doug Mientkiewicz.... Um, Never Mind uh, Jake Mauer?
  10. Ordered (paid) because it's worth it... One of my off season high lights
  11. Wades season isn't over though... he is playing in the AFL and has 5 games under his belt. In 18 at bats, he has 3 hits(1double), 3 walks and two strikeouts. I will not do a wrap on his season until the AFL is complete.
  12. Wade finished the year hitting 342 over his last 10 games to finish his AA season with a 292/397/408 slash and an 805 OPS. Wade doesn't hit for a ton of power (22/3/7-2B/3B/HR) but what he does is get on base and set up the offense. Wade induced 76 walks and kept up his tradition of walking more than striking out while maintaining a healthy BA. I would like it if Wade could improve his stolen base numbers. He was only caught twice in his 11 attempts but if he's an on base machine, snagging some more extra bases would really drive up his prospect status (yes, even more) In the field, Wade accumulated 526 innings in Left, 265.1 in Center and another 149 in right. He had one error on the year (it was while playing in Left Field) He had 8 outfield assists.
  13. So. A month or so late but let's put a wrap on Palacios' season. He finished with a combined slash line of 296/333/454 for a 788 OPS but that was pulled way down by his FM slash of 269/303/359. What really stands out to me is the power difference. While slugging 13/6/11 2B/3B/HRs at CR, he only hit 8/4/2 at FM. He played 62 games for each club so he is still obviously adjusting to the higher level (and what is considered a pitchers league) Defensively, there was no fall off. His stats are nearly identical at both levels and his FPCT was identical at .961 at both levels. When on base, Palacios was much more aggressive than in previous years. He stole 20 bases and was caught 15 times. That's almost triple the attempts from previous seasons (including both healthy seasons). I think the most important thing Palacios did this year was staying healthy. If he can stay healthy, Palacios should be a fast riser on prospect lists. In a few years I see him replacing Gordon or whoever else is in front of him at Short Stop and becoming the long term solution there. Palacios and Polanco make Gordon a viable trade piece for starting pitching this off season and viable replacement for Dozier down the line (after his 2-3 year extension expires) Next season, expect Palacios to return to FM until somewhere around the draft when he will be promoted to AA. Personally, I could see him as a call up sometime in 2019 (September?) and pushing for a full time 25 man roster spot in 2020.
  14. Palacios ended up splitting his season right down the middle between CR and FM this year with 62 games for each team. He had a combined 296/333/454 slash with a 788 OPS but most of the power came before the promotion. His 544 slugging in Low A was offset by 359 in High A. He stole 20 bases but was caught 15 times. Attempting to steal 35 bases was double any previous years attempts so both a skill he is working on and one that seems to be coming along. Given his splits, Palacios is sure to begin next year in FM again but given his career trajectory I would not be surprised to see him in Chattanooga by mid season with a 2019 debut possible. With Palacios rise, Gordon as a trade piece becomes a reasonable strategy down the road. Personally, I believe Palacios could be the better of the two long term.
  15. Baxendale finished his season pitching 9/2 and 9/9 for AA Chattanooga. He tossed 4.2 innings and 3.0 innings respectively allowing no runs. He struck out six, walked one and gave up 5 hits. I expect that he will be back at AAA next year if not lost to the rule V draft. In either case I expect him to make his MLB debut in 2018 for somebody.
  16. Busenitz finished the season pitching 1/3 of an inning in the playoffs. His final season numbers in the majors were 1.99 ERA with a .98 WHIP in 31.2 innings and 28 games. He struck out 23 for a 6.54 K/9 while only walking 9 hitters. Busenitz figures to remain in the majors next year and use up the rest of his "prospect" status as he continues to establish himself as a legitimate MLB reliever.
  17. I hope for the long term health of this team this is how the brass will approach things. Buxton, Sano and Berrios are all the real thing IMO and this approach will make our window bigger and last longer.
  18. I like the idea of trading Rosario or Kepler + Gordon + Gonsalves + A level lottery ticket or two for Cole + McCutcheon. That will leave the off season priority FA signing of relievers and prepping for a deep run next post season... Lets Go! I believe the Short Stop depth will be fine with Palacios and others also rising through the system that we can sacrifice Gordon for win now mode and maybe that win now mode will also encourage McCutcheon to stick around a little longer (A couple more years at least)
  19. I remember telling people before the season and I believe predicting somewhere on TD before the season that Buxton will be HOF someday. My faith in his skills has only been enhanced by his baserunning this season and his second half patience with the bat. The future's bright!
  20. Vs overpaying more #3 type pitchers that will prevent us from keeping all our young Good players down the road as the FA pitchers decline into Ricky Nolascos and Phil Hughes types? Yeah, I prefer what we got over paying for those free agents. Trade or stand pat... Preferably trade
  21. You stole my response to the OP... I think 120 million is a number the pohlads are comfortable with so the big question is "is there anyone worth acquiring to spend that 20+ million on?" Year after year I see the lists of free agent starting pitchers and say to myself, they are not worth it. Ditto with this years list. I hope there is some type of big trade to bring in a front line starter and then spend up to that 120 mark on relievers and filling any potential holes created by said trade.
  22. Were drafting Beers? Pub Crawl!!
  23. I see what you did here. Good one even if a little corny.
  24. #7 the Twins have done worst to first before. That's just how we do it in Minne
  25. Best: emergence of so many Short Stop prospects from Polanco to Gordon to Palacios and beyond Worst: Travis Harrison... I can't even talk about it.
