  1. To be fair I imagine most TD posters are fine tuned athletes and would be kick-ass base runners. As durable as AJ is, he has got be be pretty close to falling off the cliff - is the catcher market that low? Would he take over the smoke machine if Torii does not return? I might change my mind if he can lead the dance party -- because when you think of AJ - you think of dance moves. [Not sure this is how I wanted to use my 1000th post. I was hoping to save that for when we won the World Series.]
  2. I think with activity he has generated on some of the threads, one of the forums on this page should be named after him. (I also think it is an appropriate gesture).
  3. Starting to look like this year is probably not the year for the Cubs to return to the World Series. I predict they will make it next year only to lose a close series in game 7 to the Minnesota Twins.
  4. They probably did not have Excel when you were in school - you can do more with spreadsheets on Excel than the stone (or animal skin) format spreadsheets you used: http://egyptology.tutatuta.com/Text-Photos/table-military.jpg
  5. He loves to get the internet comments going and an article on Joe that could be read with a negative slant would do that. I am not saying there is not a legitimate issue and concern of what to do with Joe in the future that can generate some good writing and discussion, but I also think Souhan has something personal against him, and he loves when he can write something that will get the negative comments. He gets strangely mean girl and personal when there is someone he does not seem to like (not just Joe.).
  6. I agree - the owners/moderators/writers do a nice job with this site and maintaining the right balance. The discussion usually remains civil and well thought out but with some real emotion, and the site has some intelligent baseball analysis without taking itself too seriously. There is an interesting mix of personalities who visit here.
  7. I took a computer programming course and was pretty savvy with troubleshooting. However, that high school course was a couple of years ago, and you might not be on an Apple 2E, so I am not sure the advice would be helpful. If your screen colors inverted and the background is now green (or orange) and your text is now black and you want to switch back to black background and green (or orange) text, or if you are having problems with Oregon Trail -- let me know and I might be able to help.
  8. Damn - first the season ends and now I have to deal with the fact I lost this contest. The hits just keep coming.
  9. It will come as no surprise - the trophy that goes with the RiverBrian award is quite special and inspired by its namesake. http://neverchill.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/pop_ace-fantasy-baseball-trophy_1.jpg
  10. I heard Molitor on the radio this morning and he implied he was going to rest a number of the starters since they had been playing non-stop for the last month. He just wanted to talk to Torii because of the situation he wanted to give him the choice to play if he wanted.
  11. They seemed to have a good knack of getting up after being knocked down. Even today when behind 5 to 1 going into the 9th they were doing their best to defy the odds.
  12. On a superficial note from the post-game -- it is nice to see that Pete Rose can still fit into his dress shirt from 1990 (or from a star trek convention) and lived a healthy life style that he still has his very natural looking hair color from 1970.
  13. and from the sounds coming through my floorboards - my downstairs neighbor.
  14. They definitely don't go quietly into the night do they?
  15. Kind of funny (in a not good Ha Ha way ) how they were always so much better at home -- and then once they turned it around for those last three good road trips, they seemed to lose their Target Field magic. In the end, the good road trips kept them afloat and the home stands did them in. Between this and the Gophers - I can only sense some kind of bad karma for the Vikes tomorrow.
  16. I just get home - turn on the TV and the first thing I see is Boyer playing Dodge Ball. Now I am kind of regretting ordering that Boyer jersey. (Although - I actually do feel kind of bad for him). Overall I am happy with the season -- and always knew the wild card was a long shot (at least the last week or so) but was hoping for a better closing weekend. I might turn the TV off now.
  17. Guess we know where the blame is if we lose the wild card to the Angels.
  18. True -- we do not have Canada's perfect record of producing great musicians. http://assets-s3.usmagazine.com/uploads/assets/articles/57928-justin-bieber-why-i-wore-overalls-to-meet-canadian-prime-minister-stephen-harper/1353939694_justin-bieber-article.jpg http://image.slidesharecdn.com/celinedionthecanadianlegend-140224191034-phpapp01/95/celine-dion-the-canadian-legend-1-638.jpg?cb=1393269088
  19. Probably justifiable homicide by taking out whoever drew and named him.

  21. I admit, I had us written off after NY. OK - I might have had us written off after the first Tigers series in April...
  22. I got home at a good time --- heard my neighbor shouting downstairs - so I knew there was something good happening before even turning on the radio. This could be an interesting weekend. Damn bunter.
  23. Since this persona is a big baseball fan, i am assuming he is reading this board and pondering both the jokes and how he should be addressed. http://blog.thehigheredcio.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/05/bush-lightbulb.jpg
  24. I just got home and was driving home when the challenge was issued. Gladden was practically foaming at the mouth that the review got it wrong basically saying the umps in New York reviewing the play were not objective and do not like to make the other umps look bad. Was it that obvious of a missed call or was Gladden being a little melodramatic. I have not looked at the previous posts - did Brian ever make a decision or is he still starving and wondering what frozen meal to eat?
  25. You know -- the Twins really need you fully focused on the game thread tonight -- so whatever dinner takes up the least amount of your thinking so you can devote as much energy and your mind here as possible. I am starting to think you should just order a pizza.
