  1. I believe this is already Torii's favorite to play during the Twins Dance Post-Victory Dance Parties. Hopefully he will be playing it tonight.
  2. This was when Josie and crew went through their acid rock phase and played the Detroit area a lot in the late 60's - early 70's. Mickey Lolich had an off and on relationship with Valerie and they were kind of the Verlander-Upton of their day. Their final break-up was really ugly and involved some kind of incident or liaison with Jaberjaw at some big rock festival.
  3. I went and read a bit of the Vikings Journal Game thread last night and this morning. It is probably my imagination, but their game thread might have had a higher percentages of posts/comments that were game related. I did not see the occasional off-topic post that you sometimes find here. Nice job with the thread start and your delving into the TD archives.
  4. Thanks for that. Is it too much to hope footage of the rumored Mauer doing the Robot wearing a horse head will show up at some point?
  5. I think the Vikings are going to have to make it without me tonight.
  6. Ye Olde Chicken Dinner as Chaucer foretold.... http://pcwww.liv.ac.uk/~pelagic/images/Canterbury%20Tales.gif
  7. I found this quote about the Canterbury Tales: "Chaucer's characters each express different—sometimes vastly different—views of reality." It seems like his story really might have just been a premonition of TD game threads that would centuries later..
  8. If after the opening series against the Tigers last April, if you were told, when these teams meet in mid-September one of these teams will be in the central cellar the other will be in serious play-off contention, how many people would have predicted the Tigers being the cellar team and the Twins being the play-off contender? [i know you should not put too much weight in April baseball but I was not feeling overly confident about the season at the time -- I was very knee-jerk]
  9. I have heard he was not always the greatest club house guy, but I think I could overlook that.
  10. The Pat is a homer comment was said in jest.
  11. Everyone knows Polyanna Pat Reusse is a homer - he would not know how to say anything negative if a house fell on him. I do like Mauer being in front of Sano. I know a lot of people want Mauer gone, but I would like to see him play well enough to play with Sano, Buxton etc for a couple of years. Kind of a passing of the guard. It would also be nice to see him play with a team with some play-off success, best case scenario get a home town world series ring. (Unlike Reusse, I actually am a bit of a homer). I think I am going to be smart for once and not read the comment to this blog.
  12. I remember when we lost that last Yankee series, everyone was saying - don't panic -if we just win series from here on out, we can still be in this thing in a month. This series in NY is just a small misstep and does not mean anything. At least that s how I remember it happening. I am sure rereading old posts would support that memory. It is definitely nice to be in mid-September and for the Twins to be relevant. The Vikings will be playing tomorrow night and I will care just as much or more about what is going on with Twins-Tigers.
  13. After this I am not sure I will ever trust Down with Goldy's tweets again.
  14. and hopefully the Mike Redmond pick-up would not actually be Mike Redmond as the annual off-season returning veteran announcement.
  15. Anyone remember when Buckwheat was shot? It was SNL spoofing how often the news showed Reagan getting shot. Sadly, that was nothing compared to how redundant and/or exploitative the coverage would be now.
  16. Chief was mixing up his Presidents-- he meant to say he was of a similar age when Lincoln went to the Ford Theater.
  17. http://www.thegauntlet.com/pics/abe-celebrate.jpg http://phishthoughts.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/11/photo-19.jpg
  18. Probably like the chicken Brian made last month.
  19. Isn't this the speech Herb Brooks told his team right before they went to play the Russians?
  20. Hey --I am not sure that is appropriate -- this is a a family friendly webpage, OK, maybe not a functional family, perhaps a bit more like the Adams Family or the Bundy Family - possibly the Simpsons pre-2000 -- ok maybe that was appropriate for this webpage.
  21. I am not sure an English teacher would find a lot of comfort reading our threads.
  22. It is weird to think by the time the Great Gazoo visits in the future that of people here today, only Sid and Abe will be here to greet him.
  23. I just noticed on of the Abe Vigoda posts that he was in his early to mid-50s when was on Barney Miller. That is not that far away from me chronologically. I think I am going to make sure I never look into a mirror or see my reflection again. I am not quite ready to see my inner Vigoda.
  24. I was going to make some comment about adding the Olson Twins, but they have probably been off of Jared's radar for a good 15 plus years.
  25. The fact that you are periodically checking this is either kind of touching or kind of creepy. http://www.freakingnews.com/pictures/105000/Abe-Vigoda-Not-Dead-105262.jpg
