  1. Now I kind of wish this would have been a White Sox game just to see/hear the professionalism of Hawk's broadcast.
  2. Ok - so this win was a little special: ESPN Stats & InfoVerified account ‏@ESPNStatsInfo .@Twins beat Detroit after trailing 6-1 in the 9th inning. Teams trailing by 5+ in the 9th were previously 0-1,057 over the past 2 seasons.
  3. At least my sleep won't be interrupted by nightmares of the creepy eyed Olson Twins like after so many games earlier in the season.
  4. I am not sure that would have happened last year. Things feel a little different this season.
  5. See -- people just needed to be calm and keep the faith -- Remember: And Dozier should really be in Cincinnati next week.
  6. Hopefully, they did not make him pitch better and tonight was just a bad game or getting some of the rust out, rather than coming back down to earth after PED enhancement.
  7. This would make a good Twins promotion in the future -- we have had enough bobble heads -- and I don't think I have ever seen them give out something like this.
  8. I would probably lean towards Babe - but it is a tough one - balancing different eras, pre and post integration, etc. Would be interesting to see how some of the best players would have performed during a different time. Would Babe had a personal trainer and been more fit if playing in 2005, or would he have floundered against a more fit field (that had the best athletes of all races)? I suspect Ruth had so much talent, he would have adapted to any era, but would he have been as dominant? If Bonds played in 1915, he would be some footnoted entry as a great player in the Negro league and his over all greatness would be largely speculated (or Hank Aaron if he would have played a generation earlier than he did). With changes in physical conditioning and off season activities - would certain players have broken down sooner or held up longer if they played during a different time. Would certain hitting milestones or records not occurred due to improving defense etc.? I have no idea, but it makes me want to Netflex the Ken Burns baseball documentary sometime soon. It has been a few years since I have watched it.
  9. Things were a little more bleak at the beginning of this thread.
  10. Back when they were touting this new group young starting pitchers around 2008 (was it Baker, Slowey, Blackburn, Perkins?) who would long be long term pieces to the team's future - who would have predicted that Perkins would be the last man standing -- and it would be as an All-Star Closer.
  11. I don't know if any normal outfield could contain all of that speed -- there would end up being some structural damage to the field or stadium.
  12. Glen Perkins - All-Star closer. I don't think many people would have been predicting this 5 (or 6 years ago - I am losing track of time).
  13. Molitor might not allow smart phones in the dug-out, but that would not mean Mauer is not sneaking his and using it while Paul is not looking. They don't call him the ultimate rebel for nothing. He also reads the threads, because he enjoys the occasional pop culture references.
  14. It has been established on another thread - he reads the game threads. I think he and Chief also have a special connection - so he really sensed the critique.. This is quite the lengthy game thread for a day game. I feel guilty I have not spent enough time checking it out and that being a productive employee is starting to get in the way of more important things.
  15. He not only reads the board, I have it under good authority he actually posts here as Circus Boy. Notice how CB is much more active in the game threads when Mauer is DH. Hitting a baseball is such a difficult and sensitive thing, it does not take much physically or mentally to throw you off your game. When you get off track, I think it can take awhile to find the right balance of making adjustments and trying new things but not over-thinking and going away from what works for you. Hopefully he will have a solid second half and keep reading the board to stay on track.
  16. Busy at work today so this is the first chance I have had to look at the game thread -- saw this post and thought -- you I am fairly busy today, I could probably be using my time in a wiser fashion. My condolences on Lorraine.
  17. Capable too - She had no trouble managing her polar bear.
  18. I would have to say Herman/Fred, because he could help out the team. He could fill a need in the bullpen, and since he is close to 200, he would have a good veteran presence in the club house. Plus, I bet Sid would enjoy interviewing someone close to his own age. .http://conelrad.com/mutatedtelevision/images/herman_leo_1.gif
  19. There isn't some [really] strange Single White Female type of situation developing here is there?
  20. Is it safe to say no one is going to suggest concentrating on the business of the call and determine the best way you can contribute to the conversation and help make the meeting a success? Suduko might give you the appearance that you are working (if properly placed) more than the pen spinning which would be harder to hide - but would be a cool skill to have.
  21. It is nice to see that you are making good use of your time. If more people were helpful like this, the world would be a better place.
  22. There is that fine [or in this case maybe not so fine] line between being goofy and being someone who needs to register when he moves into a new neighborhood.
  23. I can't take credit for the work - but I do think they are due for a comeback movie.
  24. Tweety really creeped me out - I always knew there was a sociopath beneath his cute Cindy Brady like lisp.
