    I suppose now that you have left a solid, no-frills, state like ND for a mysterious wonderland like Michigan, you will experience a lot of new and exotic things that you could never have before imagined.

    Bruno was on 1500 yesterday and said he has been working a lot with Joe trying to make some changes. He was asked why his hitting was so much better with RISP. He said when there are runners on base he is more focused on just getting them in -- when there is no one on base he is trying new things and is not quite there with some of the techniques - he is kind of in an in-between stage with mastering these adjustments. I would imagine spring training with pitchers not at the peak is not enough time to modify a hitting style you have done since age 14. I am thinking more and more that perhaps he is in a decline either due to the concussion and/or being a large catcher for years that had a significant knee injury early on, but I will cling to the kool aid a little longer in hoping that at some point he will be able to make some adjustments and improve.

    For someone entering his comments from a Commodore 64, only having one space after a period seems very radical and subversive. Accepting change is hard sometimes.

    No surprise that they are not going to be able to sustain a .600 record and ease into the play-offs, but big picture I think they are going to have a better record than I anticipated in April. Before the season started I was hoping for being at or around 500, and that might very well be something they can ultimately sustain. All in all they have been a lot more entertaining than the last four years. [and yes -- there definitely could be a tweak or many tweaks to the bullpen and the line-up].

    I used to use the moderators here as a moral and intellectual guide to my life - trying to follow their example, even had a WWTDMD bracelet. That life-plan did not end well.

    Sadly - I wore a suit for my first communion suit that was not much better - actually it might have been worse - because it was checked and in leisure suit style (it was the 70's). I am pretty sure it was pure polyester.

    Before the season started, I believe I was thinking 75 to 80 wins, with the possibility of doing a little better and breaking .500 if they got enough breaks from the baseball god of luck. That is what I am still thinking. However, it is better than the 3 and 159 record I was anticipating after the first series of the season.

    I think a start would be a subtle, gentle suggestion of counseling, or inquiring whether someone has stopped taking his medication, and then get more blunt if necessary.

    A positive in this discussion is that they are both better or have a lot of potential to be better than the parade of "pitchers" we were bringing out as our fourth and fifth starters two years ago.

    I suspect the Twins did last year, but this year Molitor instituted the no smart phone ban during the game. That might be one of the main reasons they seem to be playing better this season - the players are not engrossed and distracted by the game thread postings.

    Yes - must have been in the same class. It was much easier to drink my freshman year than my sophomore year, because it took about a year before they really started to enforce it.
