  1. Not true at all. Michael Russo proves that you can be fairly critical when deserved, and still be well respected by the team you cover. I don't think anyone is asking Seth to take cheap shots or anything like that. I think 99% of professionals, not just in sports, will respect fair criticism.
  2. I would guess that Rosario is probably viewed around the league as a likely 4th outfielder. I doubt the Braves or any other team would have much interested in him until he shows even an ounce of plate discipline.
  3. It sounds like you are saying that someone can only be deemed as poor at their job if they get every single decision wrong. Of course they all make some good moves and some bad moves. They need to be judged by how those moves stack up against their peers. Right now the proof is in the pudding, and it ain't good. Whoever said it earlier in the thread is right. This is a business. Results matter, not just the process. It's just not possible that an organization could be this bad for this long without at least one current member of Management being poor at their job.
  4. 1) Our TV deal is often cited as an excuse for why we can't spend more. Is St. Peter not responsible for that? 2) Is there even one specific member of Management, front office, scouting, or field staff that you think is bad at their job? Because I've seen you defend all of them, which was my overall point.
  5. Yeah that is shocking. And people on here actually try to argue that the Twins are not penny pinchers. Do they make them chase down foul balls during BP as well?
  6. It's amazing how everyone is great at their job on a team about to lose 90+ games for the 5th year out of six. Just awful luck, I suppose.
  7. Tough day for the affiliates when the pitcher of the day award goes to a guy who gave up a whopping 10 baserunners in only 5 innings. Yikes.
  8. Fast track Jay? Or did I misread the post? Jay is still in A ball. Fast tracking a college pitcher would have him knocking on the door, if not in the majors already.
  9. Career. 696 at Rogers Centre debunks that theory. The more likely explanation is that those teams you listed haven't been very good during his career.
  10. Maybe I'm just dumb, but wouldn't an mri on a professional pitcher's shoulder ALWAYS show some inflammation?
  11. No that would be today's "save". Such a meaningless stat.
  12. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. But, I want to go on record as being in disagreement of pretty much every thing you just said about Nunez. He's already accumulated a negative 0.6 defensive WAR. He's pretty awful in the field. Aside from a slightly increased line drive ratio, I can't find anything to suggest his newfound offense is sustainable. His babip is .358, more than 50 points higher than his career number. He is striking out more than ever (17.7%, career is 13.5), walking less than ever (3.4%, career is 5.5), and hitting more and more fly balls. He will turn back into a pumpkin. The Twins should sell high, if they can. It will not be hindsight when we come to regret not trading him when we could.
  13. I agree completely with this premise. This is why I think that without a complete regime change, this team is still several years away from relevance. I think this current regime honestly thinks this is a more talented group than it really is, and that they've just been unlucky.
  14. Milone recently cleared waivers. Nobody wanted him for free, why would anyone trade even a bucket of balls for him?
  15. It's fun to watch Walker's milb power, but I have to agree with Thrylos (and many other TD'ers). Guys with Walker's profile don't usually make it in the mlb. That said, there is zero to lose by giving him a shot.
  16. I'm not opposed to second chances, but at the same time this is an extremely dangerous and selfish act. Impaired driving kills thousands of people every year. On a personal level, I have experienced both sides. I've had a cousin, and a close family friend killed by drunk drivers, in separate incidents. I also have a brother who is currently in prison for killing 2 teenage kids while driving drunk. And he will have to live with the heavy weight of that guilt for the rest of his life. I don't believe that Allen is a bad person. Life is rarely that black and white, as many of us have learned the hard way. His number one priority is for him to realize how lucky he is to have (hopefully) been able to hit rock bottom without hurting anyone. I sincerely hope he can get help and turn his life around. As to whether he keeps his job. I'm not opposed to it, but as his boss the Pohlads have to be convinced that this will never happen again. Obviously that is a decision only they can make, and I don't envy it. It's a cliche, but some things are vastly more important than baseball. Sorry to ramble guys, but obviously these incidents hit close to home for me, as they do thousands of families across the country.
  17. I don't think you want to quite wait until September. Ideally you'd like to get him a baseline of success established before going into next season. I don't think one month against September call ups is enough to do that. Unless he starts to struggle, I think around July 15th would be a good balance.
  18. That's fine. I don't have an issue letting him get plenty of AAA ab's. But whenever it is that he comes back up he's likely going to struggle at first. There is no amount of minor league at bats that can prepare a guy for mlb pitching. At some point he's going to have to come up and be allowed to struggle at the mlb level and not be sent back down, but to be allowed to learn how to hit mlb pitching.
  19. Of course SSS is a real thing. That is kind of my point. 14 more innings is still going to be a tiny sample size. That is the life of a reliever. It's going to take an entire career to go beyond SSS as a reliever. He has mlb stuff. Arms only have so many bullets in them. Frankly, in a lost season, it's laughable that he's not up right now. There is no downside. He has options, he can be sent back down if he is overwhelmed.
  20. Would you call it a total system failure?
  21. Why is baseball the ONLY sport in the world where it's taboo to celebrate?
  22. Garza and Liriano have had very successful careers. I'd hardly call them failures. Also, Liriano wasnt drafted by us. We acquired him in the AJ trade.
  23. There is no such thing as a large sample size for a relief pitcher. Except maybe career numbers after a decade or so. Not only that but can it hurt to see how he does? I guess I've never bought the argument that early mlb failure can ruin a guy. The Twins are not going to contend for the playoffs. There is nothing to lose by bringing him up. If he looks terrible they can always option him back to AAA.
  24. Yep,nothing else to do. If only we had a legit bullpen prospect who is striking out 2/3 of the hitters he faces.
