  1. I don't think any other player in baseball could make a catch like that in the top of the 3rd and then go and demolish a slider on the OUTSIDE part of the plate 479 feet over the bullpens into the left-center field seats in the bottom of the 3rd! There's not even that many players who can hit a HR that far (not including Coors Field) but to do both of those things in the same inning is frankly mind blowing. Thankfully Festa had a solid game and went 6 innings - badly needed. Now Ober needs to go 6 or 7 as well to give the bullpen some respite.
  2. No is the short answer, or at least not yet. If they do trade Duran it will be in the offseason. Our bullpen is elite and Duran is a big reason for that.
  3. I'd say a SP is now a priority with Lopez out for the foreseeable. We didn't get one last year and soon after the deadline Ryan was out for the rest of the season. And then we know what happened after that. Twins must learn from that and trade for a rental SP. A long term injury to Ryan, Ober or Paddack and we're in trouble.
  4. Just WOW. Munoz has been as dominant as you can be as a closer so one run looked beyond the Twins never mind three! Amazing comeback and the best win since the 2023 play offs. Credit to Matthews, who settled very nicely after a rough first inning. Did a decent job coping without Buxton but in one game back he's shown why he's such a big player. We don't tie the game without his hit and SB. Glad we took our time with him - having had concussions in the past don't take any chances. Correa is red hot as well - fitting way to close out a game with that great play as well. Huge games for Willi and Larnach. Huge team effort to come back like that.
  5. Jax looks like he's back to the dominant reliever he was last year which is great news. With Duran back to somewhere near his best we have one of the best combinations to close out a game. Clemens has been such a big surprise he's now pretty much a lock in the line up right now. Great pick up. Such a relief to see that Correa has fully recovered from his concussion and has picked up where he left off before that collision with Buxton. Heads up play to nail the runner at the plate in the double steal attempt.
  6. The pitching has been a huge strength and a big reason why we've dug ourselves out of the early hole we found ourselves in, so I'd be disappointed if we don't have any selected as all stars. Duran and Ryan look the best options there.
  7. We'll know more tomorrow. Obviously if they are diagnosed with a concussion they're both going on the IL. Even in a best case scenario I can't see them playing tomorrow.
  8. Neither of them messed up. That collision happened because they're both elite defenders at their position and Buxton is ridiculously quick. If they weren't as good as they are that ball would have dropped between them and everyone is fine. It's simply an unfortunate incident - no one at fault.
  9. It could have been either of theirs. It was right in that uncertain area. Correa, being the elite defender that he is, was always going for it. Just one of those things.
  10. That was scary. I'll be amazed if Buck has avoided a concussion. Hopefully Correa is just sore. But Buxton's jaw connected with Correa's shoulder. The good news is they both walked off under their own steam and fingers crossed they've avoided serious injuries.
  11. Wahoo Twins are now officially the hottest team in baseball (thanks Phillies!). 10 wins in a row is some achivement for any MLB team, let alone one that really struggled in the first month of the season. Sweeping a DH takes a big team effort so good for everyone! Big part of the winning streak is the bullpen. It's been incredible throughout May. A couple of bumpy innings along the way but generally it's been lights out. I do think Festa should get a chance now in place of SWR. SWR could probably do with working on a few things (mainly cutting down the amount of HR's given up) at AAA. That catch by Castro in the 8th was so good and so important. I reckon that was a triple if it got past him so the tying run would have been on 3rd with one out.
  12. Really happy for Keirsey Jr - just an incredible moment for him. Also great to see others step up when Correa has the day off and Buxton goes hitless - Lee and Larnach having big days. Bader is almost hitting .300 now! 3 really hard fought games against a really good Giants team and to win all 3 is fantastic - the third being the best as we had to come from behind twice. I just had a feeling Lewis would come through with the bases loaded - I was hoping for a grand slam but will take the sharply hit single! Finally, Rocco kept Duran back for extra innings - I've never understood why he used him in the 9th inning of a tied game before.
  13. Easily Paddack's best start as a Twin - could be his best start ever. He was on it all game after the near HR that went just foul. After years of people mocking how weak the AL Central has been it would incredible if 4 teams from it made the play offs.
  14. I think he needs that first start of the season to be a horror show to focus him! Although this year was on Rocco as he sent him out with a virus.
  15. No hits for Buxton but still had a big influence on the result. BB, SB and R in the first, throws out the runner at the plate in the 6th and drew another big walk in the 8th, a crucial part of the 3 run inning. Very pleased to see him draw 2 walks and not strikeout at all, it's part of the game he needs to work on. Can definitely see a firing or two in Baltimore soon, how they've become such a mess so quickly is shocking given the talent on that team. Giants will prove much tougher opposition so I'm quite pleased that we'll be sending out both Ryan and Lopez against them.
  16. Well, Buck is clearly benefitting from a normal, injury-free offseason where he didn't need any surgery. His bat will cool off at some point but even when he's not hitting dingers every night he'll still beat out infield hits, steal bases and make great plays in CF. He's such a game changer in every part of the game that if he stays healthy for most of the season we've still got a good chance of making the play offs. I said when we signed Bader I liked the move. Has MAT defense but has more pop in his bat. For what we signed him for he's been outstanding. Clearly if we fall out of contention he'll be in high demand at the trade deadline - hopefully that won't happen though.
  17. No chance. First of all, we're ages away from the trade deadline. Secondly, we've picked up form and thirdly despite our slow start we're only 2.5 games out of a WC spot.
  18. Buxton is now top 10 in the AL in HR's, RBI's and SB, plus top 20 in OPS. Please, please stay healthy Buck as it's so much fun watching him right now. Judge has 12 HR's, Ohtani 10. Buxton 8. Only criticism is his walk to strikeout rate is not good. But he's clearly the top CF in baseball right now for me now Judge has moved back to RF. Correa absolutely demolished that baseball! Good signs from him as well. Great to see Lewis back playing if only as DH right now. Pablo doing Pablo things - too many deep counts to pitch longer into the game but had great stuff.
  19. I was hoping for a 4-3 road trip so 3-4 isn't too bad. Huge to get these back to back wins. Paddack settled down after struggling through the first 3 innings and managed to go 5. Did a good job in getting Crochet's pitch count up early so they had to go to the bullpen after 5 as well. Great swing by Bader for his go ahead double off the Monster.
  20. Only 2 K's for Ober but who cares! Very efficient start and another game where only one bullpen arm was used. I actually like the fact that Lopez now slots between Paddack and SWR in the rotation - Lopez will go 6+ virtually every start so bullpen won't have to pitch 4 innings in back to back games. Twins now have a positive run differential (only the Tigers join them in the AL Central with that stat) and their expected record is 15-14. Clearly things are looking up - loving that hits are coming from everyone not just a few players. Correa looks like he's figured things out at the plate and France looks a steal right now. On pace for over 90 RBI's. If he keeps driving in runs at that pace that $1mill deal is incredible value. If I'm being picky would like a little more power but I'm loving his approach at the plate.
  21. Definitely the sort of moment that gives everyone a huge lift. Whisper it quietly but Buck seems to be in a really good place right now.
  22. Good to see the Twins completely dominate a team over a 3 game series. Ryan was outstanding and showed why he was such a big miss down the stretch last season. Anyway, huge road trip coming up. I would be happy with a 4-3 record over the next 7 games in Cleveland and Boston. Hugely important that we only used one arm out of the pen yesterday (again, due to Ryan's superb outing).
  23. Keaschall has been the spark the Twins have been missing. Could be a dark horse ROY candidate. Need to complete the sweep - no excuses!
  24. Buxton is a clear bright spot in a so far dismal season. Good news is there's still time to turn things around. Duran can be very thankful that A) Buxton is an incredible CF and B) Twins scored 2 runs in the 8th. Infield hits will happen, don't mind that but walking back to back hitters (especially lower order batters) is a huge no no for a closer. Still, he did fight back to get the 3 outs, even of the last one owed a lot to Buxton (who should be credited with the save TBH). I hope Festa stays in the rotation when Pablo is activated this week. DFA Paddack.
  25. I thought it was 100% the right call to pull him when Rocco did. With off days tomorrow and Monday, plus Soto and potentially Alonso coming up to bat I was fully supportive of the call to the pen there. Of course it helps when one pitch later the inning is over!
