  1. Seems a reasonable enough move. Bullpen needs arms, this guy is probably more a middle relief pitcher than pitching in high leverage situations but that's fine. If he can keep his ERA around 3.50 it will be a solid addition.
  2. I'm willing to give him a chance but can't help but feel underwhelmed. The main thing for me is how he handles the young talent, both currently on the roster and those on the verge of being ready for the big leagues. If we trade any of Lopez, Ryan or Jeffers, it's going to be a very inexperienced roster apart from Buxton and the relievers so he (and the hitting coach) need to get more out of Lewis, Lee, Julien, Wallner etc.
  3. I've always thought we could do a lot worse than promote Tingler. He seemed to do a decent job covering for Rocco and he has MLB managerial experience.
  4. Come on, the collapse last year was on Rocco and the coaching staff. But the buck stopped with Rocco as manager. The roster, until the end of July, was stacked full of play off calibre talent so I'm not sure how the Pohlad's can be blamed more than Rocco TBH.
  5. Correct call. Had some great moments under his management but the last 13-14 months have been a car crash. With all the trades that happened a completely fresh start had to happen. I have no doubt that Rocco is a really decent guy though and wish him nothing but the best for the future.
  6. So they give the green light for Falvey to tear apart the roster, trade away the superstar SS for a pure salary dump and now they say they want to retain the Twins? To say I'm fuming is an understatement. Clearly, this was all planned way before the trade deadline and the complete contempt they have shown for the fans is utterly outrageous.
  7. I loved the Jax trade TBH. Good reliever, but not elite and we got a SP under lots of team control with clear upside.
  8. Credit where credit's due, that's a great series win. Keaschall would be a serious ROY candidate if he hadn't picked up a bad injury. September call ups will be interesting - hopefully Jenkins will get his first taste of the majors.
  9. Sounds like Correa asked to be traded back to Houston as the team weren't heading in the direction he wanted. Cannot blame him in the slightest - the man's a winner.
  10. Absolutely fine with trading Correa. Provided that the Pohlad's sell the team before the end of the season and get the hell out of Minnesota.
  11. The Twins now HAVE to be sold and soon. The rebuild is on and we need owners who are going to spend.
  12. If we have to eat some of Correa's salary we better have got a heck of a haul in return.
  13. The Duran and Bader trades were fine IMO. This one isn't. If Outman was a few years younger then it would be different. But he isn't. He won't be anything more than a 4th outfielder once Rodriguez and/or Jenkins are up. WOW Correa back to Houston!
  14. Reading a few pages of comments back, I do think people are overvaluing Duran a bit. First of all, he's a closer. Every offseason there are numerous closers in the FA market, once the team has a new owner shouldn't be too hard to sign a good closer. The other option is to develop a closer internally - we have plenty of hard throwing pitchers in the minor leagues who are trying their hand at being a starter. I believe Duran was one a few years ago. I really liked Duran, but he was always capable of losing his command and blowing a save. He rarely had 1-2-3 innings as well. He either walked someone or allowed a base hit. It didn't matter a lot of the time because he then got annoyed and blew the next hitter away most of the time but throwing 100+ isn't as rare as it once was.
  15. I can't help but feel underwhelmed, mainly because it was reported that the Twins wanted Painter. However, doesn't mean that this trade won't work out. Tait has a great bat by all accounts so even if he doesn't stick at catcher he should reach MLB even if at 1B. As for Abel, he's got good stuff and he's only 23. Different trade scenario I know as Cruz was a rental but when we acquired Ryan he was the Rays 10th best prospect and a 7th round draft pick. He turned into a legitimate ace. He was also 25 when we got him and Abel will be 24 in August. Let's wait and see how he develops.
  16. Duran for me. If you look at all the high leverage relievers being linked to trades, Duran is clearly the one with the best stuff. The situation with Clase gives Falvey stronger leverage in negotiations. I can see a contender overpaying for Duran just because his stuff is so good. I'm actually quite excited to see how the next 2 days pan out.
  17. I think Detroit traded their rentals last season at the deadline and went on a tear after that to make the play offs so it can clearly be done. Would require the likes of Wallner, Correa and Jeffers to improve at the plate.
  18. For Duran, Rushing must be included IMO plus another top 100 prospect. I do think there's a trade to be made here.
  19. Only thing that the Twins shouldn't do at the deadline is nothing. Either go for it and strenthen the roster or trade the likes of Bader, Castro and Couloumbe. I would be open to a blockbuster trade for Duran as well but not Ryan unless we get such a good offer we can't turn it down.
  20. Finally made it to a Twins game! Last few times I've made the trip over either the Twins have been on the road or the home schedule clashed with my itinerary.
