  1. Perhaps a member of the local media could ask the FO. I am not convinced that the FO even thinks there's a problem.
  2. I don't think I've heard this rumor, can you expand on this? Why would they do that?
  3. The thing is, there are no analytics that tell you not to hustle or play fundamentals. The "modern" thinking is based on fundamental misunderstanding of statistics. Just because the numbers tell you bunting is not the best way to score piles of runs over the long haul doesn't mean you should never bunt (sometimes 1 run is all you need!). Just because the numbers tell you home runs are the most efficient way to score doesn't mean you should ignore all other baseball skills (defense, contact, baserunning) and only focus on power. Just because double plays are unfortunate doesn't mean that strikeouts are totally fine. Just because process is important doesn't make process more important than results. It's just so frustrating to watch game after game of "it aint working" and seeing literally nothing change.
  4. Is this for real? If so, why is Kepler still on this team? Players deciding where they want to play. One player anointing himself GM and deciding Buxton's a full time DH now. This organization is broken. I continue to be extremely concerned that the longer we hang on to this FO and manager, the longer it is going to take to repair the damage done.
  5. Sadly a summer of photos like this may be fans only hope for change.
  6. Yeah I should have clarified I wasn't suggesting he should have been fired. Sorry about that.
  7. Fair enough I guess. Though is the distinction all that meaningful? St Peter is the CEO, which I'm guessing makes him Falvine's boss.

  9. It's what happens with extreme analytics - process is more important than results. Look at their moves after the last 2 years. After the 2021 debacle they extend Baldelli - results don't matter. After the 2022 debacle they resign Pagan and fire the trainer - results don't matter, and anyways it was all the injuries' fault. Oh and the fans' fault - never forget that the FO blamed the fans for last September's meltdown. It's going to take the organization years to dig out of this mess.
  10. Someone in the local media should ask Falvey about this. Haven't heard much from Falvey lately though - I wonder why.
  11. I wonder if Falvey still thinks the bullpen isn't a priority?
  12. We disagree on Hayes. I appreciate your encouragement, but I'm adult enough to develop my own educated opinions about someone, thanks. Again, no legitimate journalist is going to run with information before vetting it. That's called gossiping.
  13. Well, it's not just this one thing with Hayes. Read his articles, listen to him on the radio or Gleeman and the Geek. To me he truly, truly believes part of the role of a beat writer is to defend the organization/player - it's how to repay them for granting him clubhouse access and interviews. On G&G recently he excused Correa's struggles by saying he has a newborn. (In fact, he said Correa didn't actually have a bad back when he missed a couple games, that was a ruse because Correa really just wanted to spend time with his infant.) Even G&G were pushing back on him hard ("Correa isn't the only professional athlete to ever have a child") But Hayes just could not bring himself to say without qualification that Correa is simply performing poorly. Remember, Hayes is the guy who said it takes weeks for outfielders to get their bodies accustomed to standing in the field for 3 hours a day. All of this is simply to say, he's just not someone to take seriously in my opinion. Sorry for getting off on a tangent.
  14. Uh, yes, I'm assuming Ober warmed up. Not sure where you're going with that. But if you don't think what Hayes is doing is defending the organization -- by posting information that "explains" a decision without doing a shred of due diligence to confirm whether that information is actually true -- man, can't help ya. Anyway, my stance is, this organization's plan aint working.
  15. I think you've got to take anything Hayes says with a grain of salt. Last night he immediately defended the moves by saying Manea threw 30 pitches in the pen before the game a la someone who is not pitching that night, so the Twins were duped into thinking he wasn't pitching. Rocco himself debunked this - it was a lie, flat out, Manea didn't throw 30 pitches, but 8-10 which is SOP for someone who is going to pitch. Which means someone is feeding Hayes BS to defend the FO/manager because they know he'll run with it uncritically. That said, I am much more alarmed by the above quote than you seem to be. It's baseball. It's a game. These guys are overthinking every little thing. As a hitter you've got to literally make split second decisions with every single pitch. To be successful you need a clear mind and instincts/reflexes honed over thousands and thousands of at bats. There's such a thing as too much information, if you ask me.
  16. This is a front office that blamed fans for last September's meltdown. They sure as heck don't care what fans think about anything, much less the roster. They traded away fan favorite Arraez without thinking twice, and by holding on to Pagan the FO is actively trolling fans "who think they know better". Also I'd suggest the poster look up the word "bloodlust" and ask himself if this is the best way to describe fans desiring prospects to get called up.
  17. The team operates under the uber-analytics fallacy that strikeouts "are just a type of out". This is factually inaccurate, but that's what they believe, so they teach their players to swing as hard as the can every single time and not to worry about striking out. So the hitting coach is teaching exactly what the FO wants. To this FO, strikeouts are not the problem - they're the plan.
  18. Here's how I view things: MLB is the pinnacle for managers. There are 30 MLB manager jobs. Is Rocco Baldelli one of the 30 best people at his job on the planet? I'm not calling for his head, because a) who cares about my opinion? b) try not to be one of those "fire everybody" fans c) Falvine would just replace him with a clone. But seeing a clearly over his head Rocco flail away last night was the sports equivalent of a cringe comedy. Uncomfortable to watch. At some point you wonder if it would be a mercy if he was let go.
  19. The opposite of a strikeout is putting the ball in play, so if Ks are the problem, putting the ball in play is the solution. The Twins have grounded into 30 double plays this year and have 369 hits. By putting the ball in play the Twins have been 10x more likely to get a hit vs. a GIDP. (Yes I get that not all of those hits have come with a runner on base.) They've also struck out 458 times - nearly 8x the outs that GIDPs have resulted in. The idea that strikeouts are preferable to making contact because of the potential of double plays needs to be retired.
  20. Ok, but I'd say it's legitimate to question whether All Star game appearances is the best measure of "successful offensive production". Wasn't Ron Coomer an All Star once?
  21. We've gotten to the point in the Falvine era that 10 hitless as bats with bases loaded and 3 bullpen meltdowns in 6 games is neither unexpected or unusual. We agree on that :)
  22. You don't even need a hit to score a run with the bases loaded and less than 2 outs. Look, the Twins are not going to revoke your fandom for admitting what anyone who watched those games knows: the Twins lost several winnable games last week. It's hard to take you seriously when you pretend otherwise, and I am not sure what it accomplishes, other than attempting to let the team off the hook for poor performances.
