    ...and I wasn't lumping Clemens in with the lumps! I simply don't want people "auditioning" who have zero experience and somehow even less defensive production over an actual unknown. Let Clemens and (possibly) McCusker have a go and see if adding another bargain rack 1B is necessary this offseason, or do we at least have -at minimum- a competent bridge to... well, somewhere better. Love his drive, and hope he just needs a shot. Rooting for it.

    I think you are probably overly optimistic about Clemens, you're correct about his actual position in the Twins 1B hierarchy. He is the best of the lot, now. Both as production in the next game, and going forward. No more "he can't play anywhere else, so..." DHs playing every day!

    You are correct... 2020 (1st season) was Rocco's 2nd season. Jeffers makes a pretty... poor "list". Just about as good of a list if he wasn't on it.... At least his best attribute is endurance - imagine Vasquez and... shoot, Gasper? Clemens? The 2nd choice FA signing after Vasquez?

    Quit picking on Ron Davis!!!! He has to be in his mid 60s. He wasn't all that great in his prime. Wait, we have another Davis that bad??? Crrrrriiiipes!!!!

    Hard to build around a guy trying to get to 50% of games played... We knew years ago the "Buxton Era" was... cursed. As much fun as he is to watch when he's healthy, we always have to deal with that horrible phrase "when healthy". Even with a Yankees or Dodgers payroll, it is nearly impossible to carry two starters for one position, let alone two starters of star quality. Enjoy what you got, cus he gives it all. He'll literally play until it is impossible for him to do so. But to think he is a building block, well, it is just silly to think his 13th season will be when it "all comes together for him". Could it happen, (280 25 100+, 140 games played)? Sure, it could, but to once again plan on it being so is just plain... insanity! (Insanity- doing the exact same thing expecting different results)

    Julien has never shown such ability. Even hitting .282 (his peak) his "defense" made him a bet loss. And then his glove work went into decline... On a well-constructed roster, maybe he has enough bat (probably not, ever...) to be a pinch hitter. On the recent Twins' rosters he is an unusable liability, and lately (1.5 seasons...) needs about 10 roster moves ahead of him, of quality, to be anything but an anchor!

    Rocco just needed to know Bailey Ober's 4 batting practice HRs were a fluke due to facing Davis, or maybe we stumbled onto our 1B!

    Julien is the fault of God. That is simply not a MLB player. I'm sure someone will leave me a reply providing the "cheap Pohlads" are to blame for his sub-beta personality..

    It is Philly, so it won't be this year! The Phillies have a long running pattern of making deals (trades or FA signings) that are almost universally hailed as being "the final piece to get 'em over the hump" and then disappoints for the season. The next season you get "tempered" expectations for a better, but not really a contending team. They then go on to be a top tier team for the season. If recent history holds, he'll be a huge get for them next year!

    I have to say, I picked the right time to live in Cedar Rapids (baseball wise). They were an Angels franchise and seemingly wore old tattered Angels uniforms. These Kernel uniforms look like a church league softball team spent an unfortunate night with a Mexican 'rassler!

    Trade half the roster (the better half, who else you trading?) of a bad team, and refresh it from a worse AAA team. Where do you think Mauer/Pucket/Carew 2.0 is in all that? Because if any of the Twins everyday roster approached that they'd be gone. You ain't getting any reset inseason... the best hope is a young guy whose production margainly outpaces the inevitable rookie bloopers. Considering the product across the river in AAA, that looks unlikely...

    Makes sense.... Had seen nothing of actual games, only highlights, and well, that isn't a very good indication of the overall play.
