  1. Keaschall has played better defensively the past few games. Of course, that is less than a minimal sample size, but maybe it's a sign that his athleticism is starting to show up in the field.
  2. I think the moves to improve the defense have been helpful. Larnach becoming a servicable outfielder is a nice surprise. Kreidler at SS and he is hitting well...hard to believe the hitting. I think Lewis will become a good first baseman if he can hit...the jury is still out. And Keaschall with his athleticism will hopefully turn it around at 2nd base. His hitting is seemingly back. Nice couple of plays yesterday.
  3. With Bell heating up for the Twins, there is nowhere for Wallner to go unless Bell is traded. Can't have two guys on the team that can't be on the field.
  4. And Kriedler had a great game last night. I would like to see a comparison of defensive metrics for Gray & Arcia. The eye test says Arcia fields the position better than Gray.

  6. Marek Houston's season is very encouraging and I hope he gets moved to AA soon. With all the discussion of which player should play which position long term, I need to weigh in that Royce Lewis ought to become a pretty good fielding first baseman and if his hitting continues, then I like him as the first baseman for the forseeable future. Keaschall has to figure out 2nd base to be in the long term plans as I don't see a move to the outfield with all the young talent close to the bigs.
  7. Buck is my favorite player for all the reasons stated and the fact that he is just plain electrifying to watch. Anytime he hits a ball into the gap, I am on feet because I know he going to fly around the bases and take an extra base and it is phenomenal to watch.
  8. I'm happy for Fedko who earned the promotion. I am a bit surprised that Arcia was released as I think Gray was a better candidate to be released. I previously commented that Kreidler should be released but his defense at SS is quite solid and I like that the Twins defense should be improving as they slowly get players in the correct positions.
  9. Of the 3; Kreidler's value has dropped given that Clemens is now playing an adequate CF. If two are gone, I would retain Arcia. He hit well for St. Paul and has continued that with the Twins and he has a track record that demonstrates he can do this. He is an ok fielder.
  10. I fully agree with your comments. Keaschall's play at 2nd has been poor, but his hitting has been solid the past 5 weeks. The Twins aren't going anywhere, so let the guy play. His upside exceeds Kreidler, Gray and Arcia's. I would swap Kreidler for Culpepper right now and continue the youth movement. You can do this now that Clemens appears to be a reasonable back-up for CF (instead of Kreidler).
  11. I wish I understood why Keaschall can't seem to improve at 2nd base. He is too good of an athlete to play like this. At least his hitting is slowly improving.
  12. Mick Abel's performance is extremely encouraging and hopefully after another start, or two, finds his way back to Minneapolis. The Twins starting pitching needs to become healthier because Prielipp is almost certainly on an innings watch list.
  13. I was angry when it happened...and now I'm angry all over again! Johan was incredible during his great years.
  14. Absolutely no for Wallner. I'm not even sure he can be an emergency outfielder. If the Twins need another outfielder now, I would call up Fedko and move kreidler back to St. Paul. Fedko can take over back up CF duties (and LF/RF) and the Twins have too many mediocre middle infielders. Having a guy whose only position is DH is just plain untenable for a team that needs to try out their younger players.
  15. It may well be that Lewis is the best bet for first. Groundballs should not be a problem. Footwork and receiving errant throws are the primary questions.
  16. I am hopeful that the Twins call up Culpepper to play SS. Another player that is seemingly read for the next step is Winokur. I'd love to see him move up to Double A to see if he is ready for the next progression in his career.
  17. I agree, I am not remotely ready to give up on Keaschall. His hitting seems to be picking up and he is too good of an athlete to continue playing so poorly at 2nd. If his defense does not improve, then he becomes a likely trade candidate.
  18. I was at that game when Ben Revere wiped out. That young man could really motor. As I recall, he left one of his shoes behind between 2nd and 3rd.
  19. I think they are hoping he clears waivers and goes to St. Paul. But I like the accountablity.
