  1. Miranda can’t…..period. Santana: ”It was a decent signing but less to no post-season success.” What? How is the guy who was a leader on offense and defense in any way responsible for the rest of the Team not performing??? They spent a meager $5.5M on him ……his year was so bad or uneventful that the Guardians decided to more than double his salary and commit to 2 years.
  2. They are real numbers. He posts - unlike Miranda! Jose has been hurt 3 straight seasons & he’s 26…… My point isn’t Carlos Santana is a superstar ……. Cleveland saw it was a good idea to sign him for 2 years at $12M/yr at age 39……. they aren’t exactly big spenders. The Twins signed France for $1M. Miranda would make $760K if he could muster the ability to play and perform. He got sent down because he was brutal at the plate & this was with 3B wide open for him with Lewis out. Then he got hurt handling a case of water. He deserves more of an opportunity than he’s been given? Don’t think so. Who is the better option for ‘25? Santana was a MUCH maligned signing by Twins FO in ‘24 - by end of April many TD followers wanted him DFA’d. He won the Gold Glove - he actually lead the Team in offensive punch……….he wasn’t MVP level but he probably was the Twin’s MVP. My point is that Santana was a success - Stewart is a success - Coulombe, Bader, & France are all successes to date! The slant is that the guys in the front office aren’t total screw ups is my point……..and that’s all that is portrayed here almost daily, “they’re clueless”.
  3. btw - Henry is 3rd behind Rose & Cobb in hits…..should be #1 in HR …… most RBI …..most Total Bases…….ever! Grossly underrated when discussing all-time offensive players!
  4. Hank Aaron’s my favorite player…….have a framed ‘57 World Series pennant in my basement……got it from my older brother in 1972. Am making a point that “the slow start of the Team” is not the reason Bader “seems” to be having a good year. I’m not looking it up, but at a .289 BA, I doubt 10% of MLB is hitting at a higher average - same with his OPS+. Eddie Matthews got plenty of press next to Henry………I’m not suggesting Bader is a star (didn’t like the signing)……I’m saying he’s earned some notoriety based on what he’s doing not because others are underperforming.
  5. My assumption is this article is Fiction - the player’s stats are fabricated as well - no way the Twin’s FO makes a good signing via FA - no way. Other than last year’s $5.5M signing of the Team’s leading HR & RBI guy that also happened to win the Gold Glove at 1B. Maybe that didn’t happen either???
  6. “They stand out more……” France - as a $1M signing is waay above any expectations (leads team in RBI) regardless of other’s slow starts - Bader with a 135OPS+ & .289 BA would stand out if he was next to Hank Aaron in OF - Coulombe hasn’t given up a run, zero, which typically stands out on any staff!
  7. Nobody’s sure about the results going forward for Twins nor anyone else. Correct, that’s why they play the games. ……….. Correa just getting more toward normal self - Wallner back in 2-3 weeks - Lewis has to be at least an Average Contributor going forward - Keaschall a wild card add after the All-Star break. I like the roster, if healthy. They’ll have bullets for trade at deadline with young pitching, if they want to pursue someone specific for the offense. Could just keep their young guys and SIGN free agent J.D. Martinez June 1st and pay him $8M or so for the balance of the year. He could take the month of June to get sharp in St Paul……….worth considering. He had a 107 OPS+ with 41 XBH in ‘24. He’s not washed - just expensive for a DH “only”……..maybe it’s $5M with another $3-$5M of incentives? I’m assuming he’d like to play?
  8. They started ‘24 at 7-13 and won 12 straight at one point. ………..23 games over .500 from mid-April to mid-August…… Lewis has done nothing to date. Wallner has been out maybe 40% of games. Correa did nothing until last 2 weeks. Paddack’s got his ERA down to around 4.80 after last night. His velocity was good but I think he could have been at a more “normal” 94mph and he’d have been fine - great command & movement of the ball around the zone!! Made a middle/middle mistake to Chapman but was fantastic the rest of the game - no walks was big!
  9. I get you don’t want to bet the house on the Twins winning a series! Seems if they are 12-6 at home and on a 5 game winning streak, they should have the expectation of winning two with Ryan & Lopez going over the weekend. If not, we should curl up into the fetal position. My bad on the “Burnes going to SF” …….thought that seemed like a lot of $$ to spend. Thanks for straightening me out. Players have to be on the field to play the game and contribute. Correa missed big chunks of ‘23 & ‘24…….Buxton missed a bunch of ‘23 and played maybe 110 games last year……Lewis (our #1 overall pick) hasn’t been in the field a bunch of the last 3 seasons……..Lewis out in ‘25 - Wallner out in ‘25. Miranda & Julien forgot how to hit. Can’t “manage” Ty France & a supporting cast of Gasper & Clemens & Kiersey & on & on to Division Titles…..need players!
  10. Robbie Ray is back - Corbin Burnes was signed - SS, Adames was signed as FA as well………..good players win games not attitudes from the front office. Organization’s ideals - fundamentals “help” on the culture side BUT 3 significant player additions to the Giants are really driving the success. Buster signed the two FA’s, so kudos to him and FO there but the guys throwing and hitting the ball are the real stars in S.F. ………..Twins playing at home, one has to expect a higher bar for the series…….at least 2 of 3 - right?
  11. OF is the envy of baseball if one drops Wallner back into RF. Wallner is a decent OF with a plus/plus arm (needs to be smarter with it) - Bader shines in LF almost every time he’s out there - Buxton (with his current health) could anchor any group in the game on the grass. All with .265 or higher BA and OPS+ in the 130’s……….Lee - Lewis - Correa show up, their formidable. Jeffers & France are both playing/hitting well. Starters have ERA of 3.50 (Ober after game one with ERA in 40’s) - 2.93 (Ryan) - 2.18 (Lopez) - 4.01 (SWR) - 1.38 (Festa) - 5.57 (Paddack) ………. Paddack has been competitive in 6 of 7 starts. He IS on the edge too often! Overall, other than Jax & Alcala’s early blow ups, the PEN is very good. Alcala & Stewart have walked/hit guys to get in trouble lately but the group has real ability! May 9th ………still think they are playing at a more even level and a few over .500 by June 10.
  12. Ryan would be a nice piece after ‘25 for the O’s - not trading for Joe to save ‘25. Can’t imagine Twins considering trading “The Experience” until they get to his last season of team control…..certainly not for an ineffective starter - a High A pitcher & potentially another Brooks Lee “highly rated” type in Mayo.
  13. Baldelli………his players being hurt or underperforming in the batter’s box ……blended with FO cutting budget in ‘24 and status quo in ‘25.
  14. I was curious on Jorge so I checked - he’s 5-0 for the Nationals in ‘25………hang on…….with a 7.41 ERA. How one achieves that record with little ability to get outs is perplexing. I guess he comes in & gets behind and the offense then puts the Nats ahead & somebody else gets a save??
  15. I say the same things about players managed by Baldelli…….they gotta get it done and Baltimore’s STARS like Henderson & Holiday are not. Lots of hype over a kid in Holiday the past 18 months…….he’s still a kid. They let Santander go so that’s a pretty big “potential bat” out of the previous ‘23-‘24 line-up. They let their best starting pitcher (Burnes) leave and coupled with an injury, their rotation is brutal. Coulombe pitched in 33 games and had a 2.12ERA - he’s with the Twins now. One can’t “manage” around those circumstances ………..new ownership in Baltimore, with all the potential $$, needs to look in the mirror and at FO. Completely agree on Buxton’s contributions on Thursday - nice all around game & taking walks occasionally could be his last big step at the plate this year…….few less K’s would be nice. Baldelli’s personal version of media - FO - general eye test…… “hype” for Royce Lewis puts the Manager in MN in the same position as the guy in Baltimore. Lewis has done nothing over 20% through the season and the Manager is clueless because of Lewis lack of contribution………Wallner - same. Tough to manage when 2 of 4 of your best potential bats don’t play and one (Correa) has been in an extreme funk for nearly all of the first 20% of the season. Baldelli doesn’t have a magic wand.
  16. Larnach had no HR’s and was hitting about .170, maybe 3 plus weeks ago ….. he’s on pace for 25 HR’s now……up to around .230. France & Bader continue to make positive contributions! Pitching getting it done almost routinely. Duran is in a groove. He & Jax need a day off! 5 RUNS with 5 hits & 5 walks is a good thing!! Last, Lee seems to be hitting the ball with authority a couple times in at least every other game……..much better than once or twice per week.
  17. Didn’t seem to bother him in ‘24 as he lead baseball in backward K’s………guy in 2nd had 100 less PA’s. That, to me is telling. He’s mentally locked up in the box.
  18. His bunting may be beyond repair - he’s absolutely brutal when squaring around AND he’s even more brutal trying to swing away……….if Larnach is “barely passable” I don’t have an adjective/description I can use in public for Kiersey’s offense. Kiersey has been in 26 games and has started roughly a dozen. He has TWO total bases. His 2 hits have earned him BA - OBP - Slug% all at .069. He’s 2-29 with zero walks. I’m all for Rodney Cline helping anyone he feels deserves his time - Kiersey, why not? Rod better have some Valium to get through a bunting/hitting session with DaShawn!
  19. So, their best statistical hitter of ‘25 coming back from ‘24 wasn’t mentioned above, Matt Wallner. I completely AGREE that a combination of Vazquez or Paddack or Castro mixed with a BIGGER chip in Duran or maybe Matthews would have, could have, garnered a real bat from someone! Personally, I thought Tristan Casas should have been the target - no crystal ball here - he was OK to poor so far this year and is now out for the year. Jeffers - France - Buxton - Bader - Lee all have above .700 OPS (league average) Wallner and Keaschall are well over .800 & 1.000 OPS, respectively. Lewis should be back tomorrow and certainly has above .700 OPS talent……displacing Julien in the line-up. Keaschall - DH….Buxton - CF….Larnach - LF….Lewis - 3B….Wallner - RF….Correa - SS….Jeffers - C….France - 1B….Lee - 2B 7 guys above .700 OPS above and Larnach & Correa should both get to & sustain a .700 plus OPS as well. Bader and Castro and Bride will split up the innings that Keaschall should eventually get by mid-July. Bader - Castro - Vazquez - Bride as guys off the bench. To me, this is a better than average line-up that would put up Top 10-14 offense w/o issue. I’m not ignorant to the fact that the offense has been disappointing and lackluster waay toooo often. They have been steadily improving and the last, nearly 5 full months, hold much promise. Starters blended ERA 3.97. Staff overall ERA 3.60. Little better situational hitting and some better health and things should turn!
  20. Alcala was optioned March 30 & he has one more option to be used this year. I do not like wasting bullets of Festa & Matthews in St Paul - between Alcala’s spot and/or pairing one of them with Paddack or SWR in a piggyback approach - worth getting Alcala right at AAA and getting some value from Festa or Matthews right now.
  21. The question was, who would hire Falvey …… don’t understand your comments here. He’s developed pitching depth and the budget was reversed in ‘24 and this ‘25 by ownership. “Other organizations”?
  22. David Festa started 3 games in the Show this April when Lopez went down. He had an ERA of 1.38 over those starts. He accumulated .6 WAR. His strikeout to walk ratio was 3:1. His strikeouts per 9 innings were 10.4. Festa, while not going deep in games, has pitched as well as anyone on the Staff to date. Not sure what you’re watching? Dobnack & Smelzer comparisons make me smile. Matthews started 2024 in A ball. He was in the Majors by August. He wasn’t perfect & I agree he gets a lot of press here in TD. Smelzer & Dobnack though ……..there’s a bit of a difference.
  23. Didn’t see the game today. You gotta be kidding me - a ball your grandmother could have caught but dropped in the outfield is the Manager’s fault? Seriously? When does this practice time come into play? They just played 13 straight days. Since when does the Manager conduct OF practice? It’s not high school. How can you mock Larnach & Bride and point out that they are professionals & never should have let the ball drop and then say ….. however, it’s actually the Manager’s fault it dropped. Makes no sense IMO. I’m not in love with Rocco but I typically stick up for him when logic doesn’t seem to be applied.
  24. Maybe one that hasn’t developed pitching well ………….& is willing to spend some $$ on players with some consistency.
  25. Cleveland has/had Jose Rameriz wreaking havoc on opposing pitchers - routinely! Happening for years.
