A salary cap and floor are absolutely necessary, the big issue is there are teams in mlb spending as much on 26 player that nfl teams spend on 53. It makes no mathematical sense. Some players are too greedy and none of them make a big enough impact on a team to even warrant making $30 million a year

I've said this several times move Lewis to first base it will be a better future defensively and help keep him healthier. Then keaschall can play third lee at short and Clemens at 2nd

I don't know how many times I've brought this up in comments, move royce Lewis to first base his defense would likely play better and he would likely stay healthier. From there the infield could be keaschall at third lee at short and Clemens at second at least till Culpepper reaches the majors.

I wont disagree with this article I will just add that the reported $450 million in debt the team has makes no sense as target field was mostly publicly funded and that the debt is more than 3 years of team payroll. Which tells me something isn't right in the organization and/or the ownership. Either they don't know what they are doing or someone is cooking the books for some reason, for which I will let you use your imagination.

I can't wait to see what a new owner will do. Reading this i understand wanting to build for tge future but he definitely didn't consider without a good bullpen the twins aren't going to contend for a championship

The Twins Finally Picked a Lane

I don't think they should have moved Varland, and I feel they should have gotten more for Correa even if it was a salary dump.- 301 replies

I cannot bring this up in my comments enough put royce Lewis at first it will help his health while making the most of his defensive skills. Lee did well playing third last year, as for second try martin, miranda, and Julien til someone sticks or keaschall is healthy.

Definite pass on all 3 and I would also like to point out that this past season martin actually made a really good play on a deep fly ball to center when buxton was hurt. So is defense isn't bad he just hasn't had consistent playing time at one position

Twins Trade Candidate Breakdown: Willi Castro
Jim wyllie replied to Lou Hennessy's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Castro is definitely a tradable asset he was an all star in 2024, and very versatile. His value should be alot higher than one might think even going into a contract year. As any team to aquire him could sign him to an extension rightaway that still could be less than any free agent that would of the same level. -
Twins Trade Candidate Breakdown: Jhoan Duran
Jim wyllie replied to Eric Blonigen's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
First prospects are just prospects til they prove themselves in the majors, and are really only trade chips til then. Trading duran would be waving the white flag on 2025. A set closer creates a stable back end of tge pen without which the bullpen would be a complete crap shoot. They need to keep him as in twinscteams past that have a good set closer fair alot better than those without. The twins mid-season hunt for relievers the past 15 years has been horrendous why force yourselves back to that mess -
Twins Trade Candidate Breakdown: Griffin Jax
Jim wyllie replied to Matthew Lenz's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
One value raiser not talked about is how Garrett crochet did in 2024 converting from a reliever to a starter. If Jax is looking to do the same and with his team control, every team would be calling in hopes that Jax becomes the next crochet putting his value at peak -
Griffin Jax to Move to the Rotation?
Jim wyllie replied to Matthew Lenz's topic in Minnesota Twins Talk
I think if Jax is the one who wants to try starting again then perhaps trading him would be the best route then wt least we can get bullpen help in return -
As I've said before move Lewis to first base, sign loan moncado on the cheap to play 3rd with a good upside then move lee to second, that is the best route given the situation with payroll and lewis' defensive skill set

Herr is what should happen, with payroll restrictions Castro is a prime trade candidate. Lewis needs to move to first base, leaving lee to second base. I know this leaves no position for Julien but the bench, but strategically it makes the most sense. Lee would be a defensive upgrade while providing solid offense of not better. As for lewis a move to first only makes sense as it would a good defensive fit and if he can find his bat again he would be a potential top player in the league at his position on both defense and hitting.

Carlos Correa Trade Buzz Is Heating Up
Jim wyllie replied to Nick Nelson's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Logically speaking I don't necessarily see the Yankees or Mets rushing to make trade for Correa. The Yankees will be focused and pursuing resigning Soto. As for the Mets they have a shortstop and may not be in a hurry to take on another big contract. And let's not forget many teams are likely to reduce payroll this off season as tv money disappears, and it would hurt the sale value of the team to trade Correa right now, however I'm open to trading buxton as his value may never be higher and he might bring back a couple pieces and could inexpensive be replaced by Cedric Mullins until e-rod is mlb ready. -
First I think the trade for Lopez should have been Polanco and Kepler instead of arraez it most definitely would have been for the lineup. As for a big swing this off-season I think they should move Buxton. He played close to if not 100 games and had a strong enough season where his value may never be higher.

I would think that more players trying to hit for power not contact is part of the problem, and give the big shifts are gone the emphasis should shift back to contact not power then the hitters won't be swinging so hard. Also pitchers ate trying to throw harder than ever which probably impacts the back. Pitchers should focus more on pitching skill not speed

Minnesota Twins Option Dilemma: Jorge Alcalá
Jim wyllie replied to Matthew Lenz's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Tender him and incluse him in a trade package if beneficial -
The only one I would consider trading is Jax, as he has also stated he would like to start games again. Given what garret crochet did this past season transitioning from the pen teams will probably jump at the chance to get someone who could be the next crochet. Increasing Jax's value

My only suggested adjustments from what you've done don't trade for Diaz sign loan moncado to play 3rd move Lewis to firstbase and trade for Jesus lazardo for the rotation
-
I say keep them all, thielbar will be gone that opens up a spot to bring in a lefty reliever also they could move Ocala to make room too
