  1. Complain complain complain about Kepler hes like most major leaguers, a streak hitter. who’s complaining now? .328 since all star break, plus a couple great plays in right war is a tough stat, the ball has to be hit close enough to make a special play on, yet not too far out of reach. Not a players fault that the balls hit are not quite close enough for him to look like a superstar Kepler is a better player than all those who were bent pre trade deadline to replace him Buxton is the one who needs to go, always hurt, only a 238 career hitter
  2. 5 game losing streak to worst teams in baseball Seattle and Kansas City all these threads on what the twins need to make the playoffs, are a joke. All it will take is for Cleveland to get back on track for about two weeks, and Twins will once again be an asterisk ( leafing at Allstate break and fading like the Titanic) this team has the parts, but can’t ever get the big hit or big strikeout
  3. Hold fast with the roster plenty of options when there are no injured starters but buxton does need to go on IL for remaining season
  4. All the negativity boys! Time to stop it. has Gray said he would not sign after this season?, not that I have heard. If he has a no1 starter year, the Correa signing says Twins FO will pay for talent
  5. Varland is a de cent option too, but Ober had a really nice start last time out. im just glad remainder of starting cast have all looked good so far
  6. Foolish to even consider paying a prospect long term, tough enough paying existing players long term. We tend to imagine once a player shows talent it will improve. One needs only look at Mauer contract to see the mistake of over paying. One great season of 30 plus homers, and then a ten year contract. Never again to hit anything close to that number again and now we’re talking giving a PROSPECT big money?
  7. I was at that game in august when he threw the 1hitter rod Carew hit two home runs that game we drive down from Duluth, to the old Met, to a teeming crowd. I remember driving back to Duluth that night with my two coworkers, stating this was the best game we all would ever see in person it was, at least for me
  8. Face it twins won’t pay that for either one of the shortstops. Time to bring in the young talent and build with them. It’s the every year dream of Twins fans to get some top talent, but we always over pay for old players on the downward slope
  9. Really!! who cares where he goes? Twins will not offer that long contract to a non homegrown player, because it is foolish to do so. Lewis will be the Ss for next 5 seasons and he will then leave via free agency wash, repeat, wash small market payroll reality
  10. Twins are one if the few fiscally smart teams. Not paying for long term contracts that seldom work out for any team. A rare exception was the Mauer contract. One only needs look at the last few years of that contract to see the foolishness of over a five year contract.
  11. What does that picture tell you about this weak lineup? a player with a gray beard ends up the hitting star of the game go figure
  12. This typifies the real issue of how multi year contracts for 27-30 year old stars are a real cr.. shoot. The talent does not necessarily stay at the early level or increase. Often the talent slowly melts into being only an average player at his position. How often does the player really earn his big contract in upcoming years? More often than not, he is being rewarded for his past play, not the value he brings in the new contract
  13. Too many holes in this years lineup to really compete in the playoffs look at our record vs yanks, astros, brewers we need catcher, two starters, and 2 relief pitchers seriously think those holes can be fixed with trades? Who would bring that value?
  14. All these posts about getting good relief pitchers from other teams. Realistically, who will give up quality relief pitchers? We would give up way too much in trade to pick up an average relief man. Keep the team, play for next season(like was anticipated in spring). Bring up some minor league pitchers, get their feet wet. Dump the dead weight in bullpen to the free agent list. Great core of young players reminds me of mid 80’s
  15. Just leave the team as it exists trades are someone stealing your prospects for their garbage usually the offense is good enough to overcome the pitching, but not if you trade some of the cogs in the offensive wheel
  16. Hold firm. They are winning. if still in first after the 8 games with Cleveland, then maybe think about a move. But any moves will be costly to our upcoming offensive talent
  17. After the bullpen non performance yesterday, we should be ready to realize that what was said preseason, this is a building year. Lots of excitement early , but losing 4of5 to tigers shows where this team really is, a .500 team by season end. So, no to Perez
  18. Twins have been hesitant to dump Sano because of the bad luck they had with dumping “big poppy” and him becoming a star in Boston they gave given Sano every opportunity to improve, but face it, he can’t hit the curveball. Flails in his big over swing time to move on
