  1. As was said earlier in this thread...SD doesn't have the best rep for developing their pitchers, but I like what I've seen from Paddack so far. He talked about adding another pitch the other night with Bremer and Morneau. It's way to early to draw any conclusions long term, but if he keeps going on an upward trend, I'd be very pleased. Rogers is doing great for SD right now, so the trade is kind of looking one sided for the moment. Whether or not it remains that way, I guess we'll see. Team control was a big factor in Fal-Vine making the trade, which I can understand. I don't know if we would have signed Rogers after this year anyway. I believe he was going to get more than we'd pay. On a side note...I'm not real thrilled with Pagan, but I'd take him over a few of the other options we've been throwing out there the last couple years...like Stashak, Thorpe, Smeltzer, etc.
  2. I remember Herb Carneal and liked him just fine. He was old school, but not in a bad way. Just a classic radio guy. I didn't care for Gordon all that much, but he was ok. He used to do Yankee games for a while before he came here. I'm not a Yankee fan, but I did hear him from time to time in NYC. Provus is pretty good and I like him and Gladden together, even though Danny is kind of a loose cannon at times. Believe me, there are much worse announcers out there, than what we currently have...both on radio and tv.
  3. Agreed. If Ober goes down, I don't want to see Smeltzer out there. Give the nod to Winder...or better yet, when is Gray gonna be back? He has to be getting close.
  4. The boys are playing some real solid D tonight. Love that stuff!
  5. When we traded Cruz to TB last year, we got Ryan and another pitcher. I don't recall his name, but he was a good prospect too. Anybody know his name and how he's doing?
  6. I was pulling your chain a little bit. Actually, I HATED Simmons and no way he makes that play.
  7. You are correct Sir!!!
  8. You don't think Simmons could make that play? ?
  9. Real nice pick by Carlos! Now...if he could only hit!
  10. Correa is starting to even make Sano look good. He needs to get it going.
  11. I hope they hang 5 or 6 runs early on big Mike and proceed to saving private Ryan!
  12. Kep had a nice game and Sano finally did something besides stand there with the bat in his hands, but we got real lucky to pull that one out. I'm gonna hold off on believing that either one of those guys has turned it around. Let's see it over a period of games before thinking they're out of the woods.
  13. What spring are you referring to? It can't be the one we didn't have here in Mn. Now that I'm old and broken, spring sure seemed a lot warmer to me, back when I was a healthy young guy.
  14. As much as I'd love to see it happen, I don't know how much I'd read into this report right now. It's pretty early in his first season here. Plenty could happen along the way to change things. He's been here a month...let's give it a bit of time.
  15. I think it's more like "dumb luck".
  16. I don't know if he's "the best"...that's for someone smarter than I am to determine. No doubt...he's damn good when he's out there. All I know is, when he's in the line up, the team is significantly better than when he isn't. If he could somehow overcome all the injuries and stay healthy for a full season...or several full seasons...it would be a lot of fun to watch.
  17. Just my two cents. You can throw all the deep dive stats you want up there about him, about how he's this close to breaking out, or if he just did this or that, he would be great, but it hasn't materialized. He's been exactly the same player since he came up in 2015. I don't think there's any reason to expect that he'll miraculously change and become more productive and less of a major hole in the line up. He's always struck out anywhere from 30% up to around 45% of his total AB's. That's abysmal. He kills way more rallies than he helps, He doesn't walk very much. He can't do the little things that would make him more valuable. Move runners, sac flies, drive in runs with base hits, etc. He's also a liability in the field. Will he hit 30-35 homers? Yep, he will. Probably get somewhere around 70-80 ribbys too. His avg will be in the low .200's. He won't change at this point. If that's ok for you, then fine. It's not for me. I'm ready to move on from him, and I sure hope they do.
  18. I hope I live long enough to see him strike out on someone else's team.
  19. Uncle Tony sure blew that one! Twins win!
  20. That's WAY less than the ones coming from where I'm sitting on my couch!
  21. Truer words have never been written. This is 100% exactly spot on correct.
  22. I HATE the runner on 2nd B.S. in extras. That's not baseball.
  23. The bases loaded jinx continues. We just can't buy a hit when we've got em stacked!
  24. This has been bugging me for some time now...don't ask me why, and I just can't figure it out. Maybe someone here has posted about it before, or solved it. If so, I apologize. In any event...I'm sure one of you has the answer. I've looked online and had no luck. What are they saying in the Tria commercial that they play during the Twins games? It goes by so fast, that I can't quite get it. To me, it sounds like they could be say something like "pump the freedom", but that makes absolutely no sense. It has to be something else. Anyone have the answer?
