  1. A few more runs would be nice. I have a feeling we'll need them.
  2. I'd sure take 5 or 6 innings like this from Ober. This looks like another game where it could be a struggle for us to get runs.
  3. Garlick can't get up in the morning and brush his teeth without pulling something. As worthless as Kepler's been, I'd sure as hell rather have him in RF instead of Contreras. Kep usually hits well in that park. Is he that hurt? He's not on the Il unless I missed it. In any event...we need to find some magic and win 4 of 5 over there. I think this is our last chance.
  4. It ain't Ober...till it's Ober. Or until the generously proportioned, or rubenesque if you prefer (PC) lady sings. Unfortunately, I think I hear her getting her vocal chords ready right now. Do we have a chance? Yes, there's a chance. A good one? No. There's not much time left, and comebacks sure have happened before, but realistically...I'd be shocked if we somehow pull it off. I think for us to have any shot, we have to at least win 4 of the 5 games in Cleveland. That's a TALL order. It's do you believe in miracles time. If we go in there and stink the place up, then go ahead and stick a fork in this season. Anybody got a magic lamp laying around?
  5. Time for this team to put some wins together and show us something. Win tonight and then go into Cleve and get back what they lost last weekend.
  6. It's doubtful that someone will put in a claim for him with the contract he has, but you never know.
  7. Cleve beat the Angels again this afternoon. We need to win tonight or we're 6 back. I think it's just about time for Dandy Don to start singing.
  8. Ya got a 1 in there that should be a 0.
  9. Lasorda was Walter Alston's 3rd base coach. When Alston retired, Lasorda became manager.
  10. Where was all this hitting over the weekend, when we were getting reamed by Cleve?
  11. Garlick needs to go back on the spice rack...permanently!
  12. Hopefully, that's the last we see of Archer. Time for him to try and jump-start his career with another team.
  13. Is there a Twins game today? I thought the season was already over. Did KC catch us? Are we in 4th place?
  14. Garlick makes Delmon Young look like a gold glover out there in left.
  15. Rocco can't do another one like last night. He didn't yank Bundy fast enough. If Archer tanks, he's gotta get pulled ASAP!
  16. The one I really wanted to go away, is the ridiculous runner on 2nd base in extras. Since there was no mention of that, I'm assuming it's staying. I'd trade one of the other changes for that in a heart beat!
  17. Per MLB, here's the explanation of the new shift restrictions: The four infielders must be within the outer boundary of the infield (i.e. cleats in the dirt) when the pitcher is on the rubber. Infielders may not switch sides. In other words, a team cannot reposition its best defender on the side of the infield the batter is more likely to hit the ball. If the infielders are not aligned properly at the time of the pitch, the offense can choose an automatic ball or the result of the play. This rule does not preclude a team from positioning an outfielder in the infield or in the shallow outfield grass in certain situations. But it does prohibit four-outfielder alignments. I can't wait to see these new rules implemented. I want the pitch clock, and I want the shift restrictions. The pitcher "disengaging" from the rubber will be interesting, and the size of the bases may or may not be a good idea...we'll see. All in all, I like what they're proposing.
  18. More genius base running by Celestino.
  19. After tonight's game in NY...the next 14 games are either with Cleve or KC. There are two series each with both of those teams.
  20. The good thing is...after we lose this game and get swept by the Yankees...we can go to Cleveland for three games and get whupped by them! Well, I thought there was something good in there, but maybe not.
  21. I can only take so much pain...at 7 pm, it's time to switch over to the football game for a while.
  22. Ken Rosenthal from the Athletic reported today about MLB voting in new rule changes for 2023. The changes have been widely reported for a while, but it sounds like they'll officially come into MLB after the vote. The changes include implementing a pitch clock, severely limiting the ability to shift infielders, and expanding the size of the bases from 15 inches to 18 inches. There's also a proposed limit on the number of times a pitcher can "disengage" with the mound, which could increase stolen bases. Not sure how I feel about a pitch clock, but it's in use in the minors. I LOVE the shift limitations. Hopefully, they implement that the 3B and SS have to stay on the LF side of 2nd base, and the 2B and 1B have to stay on the RF side of 2nd base. The larger base size will be kind of strange. What do you guys/gals think about the changes?
  23. I'd like to thank your father for his sacrifice and his service. I'm sure that you're proud of that. I am, of my father's military service. Those kinds of things are important. The game tonight...not so much.
