  1. i think this is largely what it has come to, but is almost certainly not going to happen with ownership and FO as they are. both are unwilling to admit they are and have been wrong in the short term, so will not do what is necessary to fix it long term
  2. I know I am in the minority in that I really wanted us to sign CC, almost feeling we had to do whatever to make it happen. Let's be honest, we are a small market team in the frigid north. All Star caliber leadership players are not fighting each other to sign with us (or really any MN teams for that matter). So when there is actually a chance to get a difference maker because they like it here, then I feel like it is a big missed opportunity. Who is gojng to be our clubhouse leader(s)? It just doesn't feel like there are enough.. or any.. hoping for the best, but preparing for the worst..
  3. Consider me overly hopeful & extremely generous then. I am certainly doubtful it will happen, but if we are deep in the playoffs in 2025 (which is only three years away) then I will do a happy dance. If the team craps its pants over the next few seasons and/or continue to be mediocre then it'll be time for change
  4. I am willing to give this FO a full decade, but don't know that it will do any good. They seem to have difficulty recognizing talent and seem to underestimate risks. The pitching staffs struggle with development throughout the farm system and they traded away some of the young pitchers I was most excited to get (Graterol & Petty). I don't see FA pitchers wanting to pitch to our catchers or suffer from our defense and lack of offensive production. Overall I have more hope for every other Minnesota team, including the Lynx who are losing their best player and looked a mess, than I do for this team. By 2025, I better be wrong or the FO better be gone.
  5. Ah.. it's the old "I'm going to trade my best relief pitcher for peanuts, and turn those peanuts into peanut butter that will stick to the roof of my mouth, ruining my day" bit.. this is Twin's Territory
  6. hmm.. i don't think any team would trade their bullpen for ours. in fact, i think every team would happily take facing our bullpen compared to any other one
  7. I have run out of fingers and toes to count the mistakes our FO has made over the years. I try to remain optimistic, however, and don't reflect on the past. As much as I feel this we aren't going to be "competitive" this year, progression should be the focus.
  8. Well.. at least this group will get people to buy tickets, but i don't think they'll make the playoffs and if they do, the streak will likely continue.
  9. IMO At least we won't lose yet another playoff game to extend the streak. Please prove me wrong by 1)making the playoffs and 2)winning a playoff game without a single proven, solid BP pitcher. Hate this trade if we think we are competing, love it if we are true to the fact we really are not
  10. Hmm.. this reeks of desperation and horse poop, so our FO might just do it
  11. The Yankees beat us again.. they got the best player in the trade, the better of the two catchers, and the better of the two other infielders. Basically they gave us what they no longer wanted and we accepted it.
  12. Ah.. finally we did something. Obviously not what was expected, but getting younger, and at a position of need is a plus IMO. Our window is still a year or two away, so at least the FO seems to know that.
  13. as it is for all Minnesota teams: if it seems too good to be true, it probably is
  14. 2022 is for evaluating our youth. 2023 is for building and demonstrating consistency. 2024 better be playoffs. 2025 is when we should expect to compete for the crown or the FO failed.
  15. I am thinking along the same lines. The FO's biggest mistake is stating they plan to be "competitive" without defining what they mean by that. Does that mean trying to get to the playoffs? Because that should always be the goal, but are they going to make moves to make it more likely to occur? So far they have not and so using the word in that sense is somewhat misleading. If they mean "competitive" as having a team that will play games and try to win while mostly evaluating the talent they have in the pipeline, they should specify that and not be so vague. I am all for the latter, but just would like them to be straightforward with what they mean.
  16. We are expecting too much, but where else can our expectations be placed when it comes to the rotation. For now he is likely our Opening Day starter and is also likely to start against other teams' aces.
  17. Unfortunately I think preparing for a long, losing season is most likely the thing to do. Hopefully we will have an idea who fits where by the end of it though. Watch to see who has the stuff and not necessarily for the wins.
  18. My prediction for our starting five: Ryan, Ober, rebounding FA, Bundy, Dobnak. If we score a touchdown worth of runs each game, we might win half of them.
  19. I fully expect that our prospects will be good to great, as advertised. If they are not, then we just wait for the next group of good to great prospects, as is our modus operandi. ?
  20. Trading away prospects would be a knee jerk reaction to last season. Other teams know we could be acting out of desperation and take advantage of that by asking for too much. Let's finally see how our young guns play out, otherwise we will never know if our FO is any good at what they are supposed to be good at. Sadly, the time to trade was back in 2019 and 2020 when the window was open, but now it is probably closed until at least 2023 or possibly 2024 with the way the FO handles free agency.
