When Pressly gets demoted, Berrios will be called up. When Tonkin gets demoted, Mejia will be called up. By then, Tepesch can be the long reliever or spot starter.
Berrios and Mejia should be recalled, Gibson could be the long man with Haley out. Pressly should be demoted. I really don't understand why D Santana is still on the roster. 0 for 4, 2 more strikeouts and 1 error today. Escobar and Grossman can play corner outfield.
I would not do trade acquisition #2, I think Escobar is capable of handling SS position adequately full time. Mauer should still be at 1B. Vargas can be the DH. I would not keep Grossman on the roster. I would not trade Ervin Santana. I would not make JT Chagois the closer yet. Is he ready for a closer job? May should be the long reliever. Try not to use him too often. He seems a bit fragile. Dozier should be traded for a better return. He is already at his peak value. I like your idea. Who wouldn't? I would definitely try to get the best return possible. Plouffe should not be back at all. Escobar could also handle 3B if needed. The Twins might need a new utility player with good defensive skill. Beresford or someone better?
To be fair, both Jepsen and May have been horrible this season. May gave up 5 home runs already. He has allowed quite a few inherited runners to score. I really think May is way overrated. Jepsen might be gone after this season. May is still going to be around though.
Because Santana cannot make routine play at short. It's just that simple. When that happens, it also gets to his head. He could not hit for average anymore. Santana also has little power.
Why would you want to trade a fairly good lefty starter? Just because May is younger and has more upside? Sometimes upside is just upside, it might never work out. I know a lot of people like May enough so that they all want the best for him. Well unfortunately this is a team sport. We as Twins fans should want the best for the team. May with his strikeout stuff should stay in the bullpen so that he could get velocity up to get more strikeouts and appear in more games. I believe Milone is going to have a long successful career as a starter. He does not throw hard just like Buehrle or Maddux. He really knows how to pitch out of trouble. It seems to me the only way to get out of trouble for May is to strike people out though.
Like it or not, I would prefer May to stay in the back end of the bullpen. It would benefit the Twins greatly if May could appear in more games in critical situation if he could strike guys out at will. He still needs more experience though. It was painful to see him give up that grand slam...
I believe the rotation of Santanna, Hughes, Gibson, Milone and Duffey are good enough. Berrios could start in AAA and be ready. In July the Twins could get an Ace starter with less money. The top priority is the bullpen arms and one good catcher who could hit and keep baserunners honest.
Mr jimbo92107, Trevor May usually exits earlier than other starters, what makes you think he could EVER go 8 innings? I really believe May has more value in the bullpen although he may never be Wade Davis. Hughes is a flyball pitcher, he gives up a lot of long balls. I don't think he has what it takes to be a closer.
Are you kidding?
Santana??????????????????????? PLEASE no more Danny Santana.
Polanco can hit, he still needs to work on fielding though.
No doubt in my mind that Escobar should be the starting shortstop from now on.
I would make Nunez the utility man. He can hit and play adequate defense.
I would like to see Gibson and Milone stay in the rotation.
I would like to see Nunez on the roster instead of Danny Santana.
For the bullpen, I would like to see only May, Perkins, Jepsen and Pressly returning next season.
Good season indeed.
Unfortunately I would like to see only May, Pressly, Perkins and Jepsen in the bullpen next season.
The rotation should be set: Duffey, Milone, Gibson, Santana, Hughes.
