  1. I wonder how long it will be until they give up on Funderburk. I know he's a left hander, but they might be better off looking for a right hander with decent splits. Just like Jake Cave (yes, I know he is not a pitcher) showing some short term samples of belonging, Funderburk seems, to me, to be a AAAA ballplayer.
  2. It's not like Larnach is being paid for his stellar defense. You kinda have to take what you get in that arena.
  3. Buxton has turned himself into a human pincushion. Somewhere there's a voodoo doll thinking that Buxton is doing it wrong. But, it seems to be working (psychosomatic?). Whatever, I still hold my breath when he attempts a steal, and I still call him a China Doll (mostly because my Daughter might be his biggest fan). Just what the Twins need, two more. What did Bud Grant call the most important ability...durability.
  4. I like that. Lewis has trouble with throws from third. That would be cut way down at first.
  5. This is the first year that Sabato hasn't looked a thrown away draft pick. Maybe he sees Amick looming on the horizon. Who knows why he has "come alive", but my expectations for Sabato are low (the way I remember it, Kepler had a couple of good years at bat, but I never expected much from him, either). They haven't plummeted for Amick, yet.
  6. Just to show you what I know, I really wanted them to give Kiersey a shot, and thought the Bader signing was useless. Hey, when I get it wrong, I do a good job of thoroughly being wrong. I also want to see Severino flailing away, so that probably explains them taking him off the 40 man.
  7. Along with the 40 man problem, there are currently 3 guys listed as outfielders at St Paul and one of them is Martin who just reinjured his hammie (I haven't seen anything about severity, yet. That will come today). Just another niggling detail to be managed.
  8. Tuned into a Kernels game a couple of days ago. They started Amick at 1st, DeBarge at 2nd, Culpepper at SS, and De Andrade at 3rd. I came away from that game with a lot of confidence in the Twins future.
  9. I really want to see what influence Eeles can have on the other guys with the "Charley Hustle" effort and attitude. I'm not wholly convinced that Baldelli can keep guys motivated.
  10. I dream of somebody who has multiple irons-in-the-fire making millions, so they are not so concerned with ROI from their sports team. A hobby that makes a little money, but is a hell of a lot of fun. I was thinking that was the Ishbias, sigh!
  11. I wonder if the Pohlads are thinking that they don't want to sell to someone that will make the "Cheap Pohlads" thing ring true?
  12. I watched Eeles at Fort Myers. After just 3 games I told my Daughter "This kid has something". I truly get a Charley Hustle vibe. More motivation in the clubhouse and on the field could only be good. And he looked good at SS.
  13. I know I'll get some hate from this (I promise you I'll recover), but both Eeles and Helman play better defense at SS and CF than Castro. I think it would be ideal to trade Castro while his value is high (All Star). I can't find it right now, but I recall Castro carrying a TERRIBLE RISP, and, man, I am tired of 10, 11, 12 LOB. Not to mention the salary savings. Let's make this more attractive to the Ishbia brothers
  14. From my perspective, the inherited numbers thing is the most important stat in relief pitching, like RISP is for a hitter. Put up good numbers in both of those and finish with a better record by 10 games.
  15. Signed with the Phillies. To paraphrase the last sentence in the article I read, with the Mets signing Soto, the Phillies will have to do a lot more than just signing Kepler.
  16. I'm watching "fewer" nearly disappearing from the language. It would be a great injustice if it disappeared before "whom". 😄
  17. Oops! My bad, I was reading last years splits on ESPN
  18. Kepler has always been a guy I thought the Twins could do better than, especially for the money. He's one of those rare guys who does better against same side pitching. And, since he's a left handed bat, that means he has a tough time against RHP. (career 672 OPS). I think, about halfway through the season, there will be a majority of fans that will realize they don't miss him. I know that won't be a popular opinion (he's a Twins darling and all) but give it halfway through the season before you start calling me "9 kinds of stupid".
  19. I was excited to see Martin get his chance. Consistently high OBP throughout his Milb career. I thought he would make a great table setter. While he may still come around, I have already given up on him. And I want to see Keirsey giving Buxton a break every 4th or 5th day, in an attempt to keep Buxton healthy
  20. "Just throw some more moolah into the pot", have you ever heard the phrase "cheap Pohlads"? Supposedly they're trying to sell the team. They won't even spend if they aren't trying to sell
  21. But, but, but......"framing" was the argument for signing Jason Castro. It won't be long until robo umps put those guys out of a job. (and we won't have to put up with a Angel Hernandez type any longer).
  22. Both Jake and Cave are 4 letter words. Coincidence? I think not
  23. I was told that Margot "rakes LHP" only to do a little research, and find his career splits against LHP was .720 OPS with significantly lower results against RHP. Not my definition of "rakes", but at least he made up for it pinch hitting /sarc.
  24. Ouch! I didn't find that one bit funny. Well, OK, maybe a little. 😄
