  1. It's a pity that Sabato looked like he might have figured something out for a brief period this past season. Now I have to keep telling myself "hope is not a plan, hope is not a plan, hope is not a plan". Sigh!
  2. A .250 average and a gold glove is adequate anywhere, and more than acceptable at SS, CF, or catcher. You can carry one or two adequate ballplayers in your lineup, but, if your lineup is full up with adequate, you will be lucky to finish .500. It's not like the Twins are overflowing with mashers and thumpers, and it's much easier to find a thumper to play 1st.
  3. I hear that Joe Pohlad and Derek Falvey are pretty tight, so, I expect to see a "clone" of Baldelli. Someone has to be the sacrificial lamb; good bye, Rocco.
  4. Now I'm curious how that list compares to career RISP, but I'm as lazy as I am curious, so....
  5. "If the Pohlads would step aside". Now that they have "right sized the business" (probably more to come this Spring) there's little chance they are going anywhere. Doom and gloom and agony on me!!
  6. When you put it like that, it doesn't sound impressive at all.
  7. If Emilio Pagan is ever mentioned again, I'm going to have to come find you. 😃
  8. Early in the season I watched a Mussels game. Then watched 2 more, before I called my Daughter and told her to check out Payton Eeles. I predicted he would be in Wichita before the end of the season, because he had a real "Charley Hustle" vibe. So, they skipped him over Wichita and he went to the Saints. Now, I'm telling my Daughter that the Twins could use a guy with that kind of drive as a good example in the clubhouse. Even though he seems to have slacked off a bit (it's a long season), I'm standing by that. I want him on the club coming out of spring training. The Twins could use a little fire.
  9. One thing about Larnach is they don't have to look too hard to find a spot they can improve on
  10. I don't really want to get down on Funderburk, but I don't understand how anyone can be enthusiastic (other than his family) about him.
  11. Falvey's job, at this point, is to put the lipstick on the pig.
  12. It might be too soon with Culpepper, but I could see it. They played him at 3rd a day or two ago, and he got to show off his arm from deep at 3rd. He has a cannon that looks as good as Correa's. And he's been pounding the ball, but it's AA. I would like to see Sabato and McCusker on the 26 man. Sabato seems to have unlocked something this year (better late than never) so there's no telling. I wouldn't be surprised at either result with him. You either have something or you're wasting your time. I'm looking for a Wallner-McCusker platoon; I guess that could work at 1st as well as in right field. Something else to think about. What's the status of a lot of these guys concerning the rule 5 draft? It seemed to me that the Twins already had too many intriguing prospect to protect everyone with the 40 man. Now they have added more.
  13. It's too early to call him the second coming of Jake Cave, but I'm already leaning that way. I hope I'm wrong.
  14. Coulombe is nearly 36 years old. The question is "when does the breakdown come?".
  15. About 4 years too late on that one.
  16. I got sick of 10, 11, 14 LOB. They seemed to be going for a seasonal record
  17. Jake Cave tore up AAA, too; I'm not expecting much, but hoping I'm wrong.
  18. Take another look at Sabato. He languished at Wichita until this year, flipped a switch, and is doing well enough at St Paul this year that I expected that he would replace France next year for the Twins.
  19. Is Randballs Stu up to this kind of competition? We'll find out!
  20. I'm wondering how many years before Outman is playing in Korea, ala Jake Cave, who is also a AAA star. I'm such a pessimist!
  21. At this point I need to remind you that, at the start of the season, Falvey (and Levine) had put together what was considered to be, by most, "the best bullpen in baseball". I fully understand the Rocco hate.
  22. Well, gee, when you put it like that, it sounds kinda dumb.
  23. You're one of those glass-half-full kind of guys! Two or three things could be happening. One is the new owners are even cheaper than the Pohlads. Two is the new owners have a plan to rebuild from the studs. Three is the Pohlads want to wring every Penney out of the club before they sell.
