I hope nobody thinks standing pat before the trade deadline is an option. What's that old saying about doing the same thing over and over? So, there are two options, buy or sell unless you like how things have been going. Do you really think adding a 1/2 season rental will do much for the Twins? Me neither. So, can the front office find some top prospects that will help next year? Who stays and who goes? Stay tuned!

Encarnacion-Strand is playing 3rd at Cincy's AAA affiliate (Coumbus?). I noticed that when he made a throwing error just as I turned on the Saints game. Steer was never going to be known for his glove, and is carrying a sub 7.0 OPS. The Twins just about broke even in that trade, and they are not taking up a 40 man spot.

France has been a beast with RISP. It burns me to see the Twins losing the LOB battle constantly, so I appreciate that. But, yeah, he doesn't hit much otherwise. He had a reputation of being a real "Clank" (the sound of the ball hitting his glove) at first, but I haven't seen much evidence of that. There are enough prospects in the system that they might deal France before the deadline.

Earlier this year I tuned in to a Cedar Rapids game. They had Amick at first, DeBarge at second, Culpepper at short, De Andrade at third, Gonzalez in right, and Winokur in center. I thought "the future looks good for the Twins". I hope I live long enough (77years old) to see it play out.

I thought that Sabato's performance might have a little to do with the release of Mike Ford, but then Sabato didn't get promoted.

I wonder how long it will be until they give up on Funderburk. I know he's a left hander, but they might be better off looking for a right hander with decent splits. Just like Jake Cave (yes, I know he is not a pitcher) showing some short term samples of belonging, Funderburk seems, to me, to be a AAAA ballplayer.

Buxton has turned himself into a human pincushion. Somewhere there's a voodoo doll thinking that Buxton is doing it wrong. But, it seems to be working (psychosomatic?). Whatever, I still hold my breath when he attempts a steal, and I still call him a China Doll (mostly because my Daughter might be his biggest fan). Just what the Twins need, two more. What did Bud Grant call the most important ability...durability.

This is the first year that Sabato hasn't looked a thrown away draft pick. Maybe he sees Amick looming on the horizon. Who knows why he has "come alive", but my expectations for Sabato are low (the way I remember it, Kepler had a couple of good years at bat, but I never expected much from him, either). They haven't plummeted for Amick, yet.

Minnesota Twins 2025 Position Analysis: Second Base
Fred replied to Nick Nelson's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I really want to see what influence Eeles can have on the other guys with the "Charley Hustle" effort and attitude. I'm not wholly convinced that Baldelli can keep guys motivated.- 37 replies

I watched Eeles at Fort Myers. After just 3 games I told my Daughter "This kid has something". I truly get a Charley Hustle vibe. More motivation in the clubhouse and on the field could only be good. And he looked good at SS.

I know I'll get some hate from this (I promise you I'll recover), but both Eeles and Helman play better defense at SS and CF than Castro. I think it would be ideal to trade Castro while his value is high (All Star). I can't find it right now, but I recall Castro carrying a TERRIBLE RISP, and, man, I am tired of 10, 11, 12 LOB. Not to mention the salary savings. Let's make this more attractive to the Ishbia brothers

From my perspective, the inherited numbers thing is the most important stat in relief pitching, like RISP is for a hitter. Put up good numbers in both of those and finish with a better record by 10 games.

3 Twins In "No Man's Land" Headed Into 2025

Signed with the Phillies. To paraphrase the last sentence in the article I read, with the Mets signing Soto, the Phillies will have to do a lot more than just signing Kepler.- 37 replies
