  1. Thank you. Nice recap. Sincerely. But I also feel like all of the oxygen has been sucked out of the room.
  2. I can see why they would want to make these changes for a drastically shortened season. This year should be the outlier, and no new rule changes kept for later years. Just get on the field and play. You could use a whiffle ball for all I care. (kidding.... sorta...) I had no idea that I would miss baseball this much.
  3. .....I'd motion to my back and go to the clubhouse for a massage. TD: That...sounds like a veteran. Thanks for the laugh.
  4. How about suspend their franchise for a year? No schedule, no games. Nothing. That would leave a lasting mark in the record books. Let the Players Union work out what happens as far as the current players go.
  5. Sano to Boston? Kind of an "Ortiz version 2".... I'll pass.
  6. Good luck, Tyler. Hope it all works out. Kid from Des Moines? Gotta love it.
  7. Hmmmm... Advertisement at the bottom of the page is from Home Advisor, linking to Local Pool Contractors... Coincidence? I think not. More like an omen.
  8. A few years back, I had the opportunity to get a tour of the "players' Dormitory" on the back lot at the Ft Meyers complex. There is a rather large auditorium where they have team meetings, and off of that a large cafeteria / eating area and then a gathering room that had quite a bit of space for TVs and games and lounging. And the players rooms were in the several stories above that. The impressive part of that whole tour to me, was the cafeteria, where they have menus that are designed for players for certain dietary needs (there were several, maybe 3 or 4). They were color coded, so all a player had to do was to pick a food of the assigned color. I though that was a simple plan to get a decent diet in front of players from all over the world, so maybe they don't spend their money on junk food. I never knew if the players are charged for that service, but at least the Twins are addressing some of this at this complex. That might make for an interesting article...
  9. This. The bar is set too low. And I have no idea how the new regime is supposed to change it. I do know that I am tired of watching poorly executed, uninspired baseball in relation to the contending markets that are in the fight every year. And I don't mean Cleveland.
  10. I just keep coming to the same conclusion... The bar is set too low. 80 wins is simply not enough, when everything hinges on "ifs".
  11. Just not sure about this. This is not college ball...
  12. Hard to get excited, one way or the other, about hiring a guy with zero managerial experience. Hope it works out.
  13. How many ABs does it take before one realizes "he is what he is"? 600? 900? 1000? 1075? Why is it he gets a pass at the expense of some others who play in the system? They might need MLB at bats to see if they would stick, too. He has talent. True. But as for now, it looks "un-realized."
  14. So much for getting a look at Gordon at 2nd. Forsythe coming here makes little sense. Good luck Brian. I hope you make it big time.
  15. Finally. Kid's 24. Not all players are going to develop at the same rate. He works hard, by my eyeball test. Several ST worth. And he was in FM training prior to reporting. Some of this is simply over the top conjecture.
  16. 85 or 83. Decent team, good team or not... The debate was an over/under around 75 at the start of the season. No matter what the final outcome, this 'ride' is one hell of a lot better than what we have been watching for the past 6 years (not counting '15). It's great entertainment. Okay... It's .500 baseball, but it's great entertainment.
  17. Seems as though this would just be another "Park" type of move. More interested in the bolstering of pitching than a rental Power bat. Interesting thought though.
  18. It felt really good to exhale... Been a long winter. Hope we can do that all over again. And real soon.
  19. Seth Gems: "I estimated that it measured 7,000 feet" "He remains very tall" Good humor. Heard the last part of your back and forth with Reusse on KSTP yesterday afternoon. It was nice to actually hear you talk about these things, even when that other guy was stomping all over your air time. Almost made Patrick sound like he was enjoying himself, too. Keep up the good work. And yes, I did originally say 'CCO... |||smh|||
  20. Thank you. It's articles like this that keep me coming back. Nice work!
  21. Thanks guys. This has been my lunch-time reading fodder for the last 5 years. I truly appreciate the time that you all have put into it. Nothing like being passionate about baseball...
  22. I’m thinking there is a side to all this that hasn’t been discussed. TR in the past, has tried to push down from the top (when he could) to create competition from top and bottom for the younger guys. The Quentin signing might have everything to do with that without much risk. With Quentin working to make the opening day roster, maybe that lights a little hotter fire under Arcia or Vargas to go north. Hard to say what the thinking is otherwise.
