  1. I’m happy as long as he’s on the MLB roster. Let’s not waste those bullets in the minors. As myself, and many others, have said this doesn’t stop him from being a starter down the road. Let’s get the best 12-13 pitchers on the team.
  2. Just don’t buy the romaine from the huge farms in California. Support your local farmers markets.
  3. 100%, and the FO wasn’t dealt any of these guys. These are the cards they chose. It would of been nice to get Mauer on a one year deal or Moustakas short term. Micheal Brantley has picked up a first base glove for Houston. Marwin or Manny could’ve created a shuffle. I’d rather give Astudillo a shot there than Duda.
  4. Astudillo gets more at bats than Sano and continues to hit over .300 for his career.
  5. I’m a little concerned about his age. Maybe they should’ve only gone four years. He had good LAR(laughs above replacement) last year but they weren’t as high in the decibels. Is this just a one year hiccup or the start of a new trend? I have some under ten aged nephews and they weren’t so excited to see him as I’d hoped. The Cedar Rapids Kernels have a nice up and coming mascot in Shucks. It’s always nice to see homegrown talent make it to the big league club and I’m concerned they may have blocked him with this move.
  6. He’s here for injury insurance and to showcase if he’s still got it for injury insurance with other teams he can join after he doesn’t make the roster. Also doesn’t hurt to catch a little more pay.
  7. I’d agree the 18 million would be an overpay. It limits the risk to one year and if he would decline it then Twins get a nice draft pick.
  8. I agree with you on Berrios and Rosario. Gibson is a qualifying offer for me, if he plays like last year and not the previous ones. Buxton and Sano I’m an outright no thank you.
  9. Nola got fleeced in that deal. Two years of FA for $31million I’m his prime yet?
  10. Harper/Machado could prolly get that ten year deal if they took a contract paying $35 for the first 4-6 years then dropping down a peg or two every year thereafter. The years of paying for a players prime by paying them for their decline are over.
  11. The contracts the top FA expect to get are insane. These guys aren’t worth 50-70 times what you can from a minimum player. I don’t want the owners to pocket the money either, but that doesn’t mean they should shell it out to anyone who’s reached free agency. League minimum should be raised to 750k or 1,000,000. It would give more players more money, those whom haven’t earned as much yet and are making legit minimum wage in the minors. While also giving the owners another excuse to cry wolf for the monster contracts.
  12. Infield defense isn’t the need it was in years past due to the shift.
  13. Gordon will certainly be called up before Rosales and I already stated those two don’t play SS. I did forget however that Schoop played some short last year for the playoff bound Brewers.
  14. Putting him in the bullpen this year doesn’t exclude him from starting in years to come. The Cardinals have done this with lots of their pitchers over the years and have become the model mid market team.
  15. Torreyes, Gordon, Astudillo, and Arraez are all capable of playing 2B, while the first two can play SS, and are already on the 40 man roster.
  16. Their is no substitute for learning how to get major league hitters out, ask Berrios. Taylor Rogers learned a slider last year during the season while working out of the pen.
  17. I don’t think signing someone like Adam Rosales is any different than the Twins signing me to a minor league deal. Neither one of us has any kind of shot at the MLB roster. Why fill up ST with these types instead of bringing in all the young guys and letting them rub shoulders with Berrios and Cruz?
  18. Because the rotation is full and we have a lot of depth I want to put him in the pen. The best 12/13 pitchers should be on the roster and he is definitely that.
  19. We’d be fools for counting on anyone make a full set of starts for any given season. Pitch your best when you’ve got them and do the best you can to fill when they’re not available.
  20. That’s gotta sting to anyone from the FO who reads this, and hopefully they do.
  21. I’m all for the “overpay” for any proven MLB talent. Would just prefer it comes in the form of AAV not extra years. Would be ecstatic to have Keuchel for three years, at ANY price.
  22. The whole idea is to go higher AAV so you don’t have to pay/roster these guys when they’re 35+.
  23. These guys rightfully feel entitled to big paychecks. Both are legit MVP candidates and should be for a few more years. I’m guessing each will get their $30 million + AAV but not for longer than 6-7 years. Pujols, ARod, Greinke, Miggy, Price(soon enough), and PEDs scared owners from those long term deals paying players into, and beyond, their mid 30s.
  24. Three-batter minimum? No thank you. I enjoy seeing the manager work his bullpen magic vs the other managers lineup magic. Universal designated hitter? How about home team chooses to play with or without a DH everyday? 20-second pitch clock? Let’s make it 10, but not have a clock with runners on base. Mound visits? I’m not sure if these really NEED to be regulated, but will agree if taken advantage of they do grind the game to a halt. Roster size? I’m not a more is always better kinda fella. 26 would be fine I guess. Likely would just cause more pitching changes. Anti-tanking? Just outright a fruitless idea imho.
  25. Signing #5 pitchers so you can drop a #5 pitcher with options from your 40 man seems like a bad way to prepare for injuries.
