  1. I know this is nitpicking the shellacking, but I feel like the ump did a lousy job. Seemed like he gave Carrasco several extra strikes (Kepler should have had a 3-1 count in the second instead of 2-2, Polanco should have had a walk), while Turley was given no calls at all. When Turley couldn't find the handle on his curveball (Kipnis leaned into the 0-2 curveball in the first), he came out throwing nothing but fastballs in the second and the Indians were very aware that that was what was coming. His fastball has very little movement. Edit: I looked up the game log on Brooks. Carrasco had 6 balls out of the strike zone called strikes, and zero balls in the strike zone called balls. Turley had 5 balls out of the strike zone called strikes, and 4 balls in the strike zone called balls. That's 5% of Carrasco's pitches called wrong, and that's 12% of Turley's pitches called wrong.
  2. Wonder if he had signed last year and put up those same numbers for Cedar Rapids what we would have him ranked in our organization?
  3. It would appear the Twinshave Leach higher in their ratings than Enlow and/or were afraid of another team snagging him.
  4. Pretty amazing that, here we are, on draft day, and we really don't know which way the Twins are going. I don't think it would be a surprise if the choice is Greene, Wright, McKay, or Gore. Four pitchers. Doesn't seem like Falvey has the Theo theory of no pitchers, but if he did, Lewis and Willihammer's favorite Adell would be in the mix. Whoever it is, I hope the kid a) turns out to be best player in the draft and allows them to pick someone with top-15/20 talent with the 35/37 pick. That's all I ask.
  5. Yes, I definitely am in the "trade him now" camp. A strong argument could have been made to trade him in the off-season, and he's put up a great first half to make him much more valuable. Career norms: 4.02ERA, .250BAA, 1.27WHIP 2017: 2.44ERA, .156BAA, 0.93WHIP Trade him now before he regresses too much. He should net at least two prospects with 6 years control. I'd target at least one starter. I love the fact that the Twins are competitive this year, but trading Santana could help set the team up to be extremely competitive for a nice 5-6 year period.
  6. Is it too early to say something like "that's one day closer to Berrios' next start?
  7. Given history, it almost seems like Gordon would have doubled Mauer off on that one.
  8. True...but it actually seemed like the Twins should have scored several runs throughout the game. It was all just karma.
  9. Greene seems like the sexiest pick. But it does seem like a strong argument can be made / has been made that Wright is the best pitcher in the draft, and should be the pick. I also agree that the "two-way" bonus that Greene and McKay both receive is a red herring that is inflating their value. If the rub on Wright is that he has control issues, does he recent stretch of low walk starts change that?
  10. Thanks for winning the series. Can we be greedy and ask for more?
  11. There is your run-of-the-mill "like."Then there is the "I've run out of likes, so I will just type "LIKE." Then there is your nomination for POTD. Now, nomination for post of the month...you are flying real close to the sun, right there, Samplesizeofone!
  12. Is this your way of telling us you have taken up the world's oldest profession?
  13. Santana-Berrios-Santiago lined up for the first place battle with Cleveland this weekend. Sano served his suspension, Dozier is back in the lineup. Let's go Twins, win at least a pair this weekend.
  14. So I read through the game thread, found out what happened...although the reaction was fairly muted...and then went to MLB.com to watch Joe's AB. I was shocked, shocked I tell you, to see that Joe hit his walk-off homer one a two-strike pitch the opposite way. What was actually surprising was the fact that he swung at an eye-high fastball. How many times do you think Joe has done that in 14 years? It was a Dozier / Rosario stroke of genius. Apparently (at the behest of Daniel Murphy) Ryan Zimmerman has changed his swing path to increase his launch angle this year and his consistently hard hit balls are now consistently traveling further. Player analytics in the statcast era. Joe needs to look at what Zimmerman is doing this year. Great win. Let's pour some more mezcal on that fire this afternoon!
