  1. Alright, way to get out of the inning. Time for Kiriloff to prove Rocco right this inning.
  2. Springer arguing worked on the ump and Berrios both.
  3. Springer complaining about the balls and strikes works.
  4. Twins hit the ball hard but at fielders. The Twins pitchers pitched well. They got shortchanged on several balls and strikes. The Astros had a couple of bloopers fall in, while the Twins just missed on a couple of infield slow rollers. And they made one bad play in an important spot. Tomorrow they have a home game with a gamer (arguably their ace) on the mound. The 17 games are irrelevant. I like their chances to win tomorrow. Let’s go.
  5. Come on guys, time to get over the 0 for 16 hump.
  6. Since you posted this, the White Sox’ magic number has gone from 4 to 3, while the Twins’ magic number has gone from 6 to 2. (Perhaps this should be cross-posted in the Fun With Numbers thread?)
  7. You forgot to list what happens if Oakland finishes with 38 wins. (Slacker).
  8. Good point. If MLB banned the robe-sharing, that would definitely increase the “us against the world” mentality.
  9. It’s hokey, but I don’t think the fact that Donaldson gifted everyone on the team their own robes, and they have turned it into a “thing” after homers should be underestimated. Every year it seems like teams come up with some sort of stupid thing like Aaron Judge interviewing players in the dugout, or players having secret signs when they get hits, etc. I don’t know how to quantify it, but I honestly think those little team-building things are significant, and I love to see it for the Twins. I hope they really, really care about getting to wear the robe. Bring on the bombas this weekend and next week. Who cares if this is a weird year - there is still going to be a champion crowned, and the Twins have a stacked team. Go win it!
  10. Buck makes Eddie Rosario look like Kevin Youkilis.
  11. If the Indians beat the Sox today and tomorrow, they pull within one game of Chicago and hold the tiebreaker.
  12. Interesting analysis. I actually think he made the right choice. While the RE shows he erred 1.11 to 1.00, that 1.11 means there are many scenarios where the inning turns into a big crooked number, even after preventing the first run. They would almost certainly score one of the remaining runners on base anyway, and additionally they have a decent chance of scoring 2 or more runs in the inning. Taking the double play in a low-scoring game, and almost assuring that you limit the damage to one run by clearing the bases with two outs, is the right call, in my view. Basically you are saying, once men got on first and third, ok, you got a run, but we are limiting it to just one. .
  13. Setting a world record, Usain Bolt ran a 100 m in 0:09.69 for an average speed of 33.90 feet per second at the 2008 Olympics. Buxton was clocked at 31 feet per second on that play.
  14. Would love to see how fast Buxton was running right there.
  15. How can the force at home go away on that play? Seems strange.
  16. Ok, since no one has stated the obvious yet, I’ll go ahead and do it: 28-0.
  17. Twisnporto, congrats on achieving empty nest status. I particularly love your assessment of your kids: “They're all good people mostly” I mean, that’s all we can really hope for, right? Now, Twins, let’s see you get back to winning this series. I don’t think 5-5 versus the Royals is too much to ask, amiright?
  18. Since 2017, Eddie has had 1737 at bats, and 89 homers, one every 19.5 at bats. Miguel has had 1127 at bats, and 79 homers, one every 14.2 at bats. (Bonus: Eddie has 95 doubles and 5 triples in that span, compared to Miguel’s 50 doubles and 4 triples since 2017.) My point about getting the at bats being significant is that Eddie has succeeded at getting waaay more at bats, which is certainly...something. I don’t know if I had any further point, though.
  19. True, I did not include that information. However, isn’t getting at bats a part of the equation?
