  1. If AJ is mostly a DH, then he's not any better than Oswaldo Arcia, especially when he costs $5 million more.
  2. Brian Kenny likes this idea. I think guys like to have routine and know their role, and that would be a huge hurdle to overcome.
  3. Unless the Twins are going to spend $200 million for a legitimate ace like David Price, I think the they have to just hope that Berrios develops into an ace-lite and the rest of the staff is good enough. BTW, I'm guessing the Twins go into next year with a better staff than the defending champs.
  4. I'd be in favor of signing Weiters as the big offseason acquisition. Losing a first rounder isn't ideal, but solving the biggest issue on the team would be well worth it.
  5. Is there a stat for weak contact resulting in hits? Because KC is elite in jam shot and bloop hits.
  6. Daniel Murphy, you got your team to the WS...and you just cost them the WS.
  7. Can you think of any reasonable way to justify what just happened?
  8. That was the dumbest end of game sequence I have ever seen. How can anyone do something so stupid? I think that should definitely seal the rest of the coaching staff being gone after this season. WOW...
  9. I think firing Pelini is a case of be careful what you wish for. I guess Nebraska fans think they're too good for 9 win seasons.
  10. I think the main reason for that is to add a solid defender to start and it lets Wiggins go up against 2s, which he seems to do better against. I don't know what he was doing on offense last night though.
  11. That's really too bad. Jerry seemed like a really good guy. Hopefully getting away from the stress of the game will have a positive impact on his health going forward.
  12. He seemed like a great guy. RIP Flip.
  13. If he has the same downward movement that those guys get then there isn't a whole lot of concern about the velocity difference.
  14. I'm rooting hard for the Mets, but I think the Royals high contact lineup will win them this series in 5 games. Those "Kansas City Specials" are demoralizing.
  15. Ben Revere is the best.
  16. That's what I think too. I responded to a post where the poster said that he thought Nick Gordon would have to move to second as he got older.
  17. If Plouffe is on the team, I don't see how he isn't starting 80% or more of games at third. Plus, I don't think Sano is going to make some huge improvement over one offseason and spring training, so I would think the Twins have a pretty good idea of what type of fielder he is and can become. Molitor seems to think he can play third and being a DH right now isn't good for his development. I'm guessing game reps are more important than fielding drills.
  18. I am definitely intrigued by Bjelica. I have a hope that after adjusting to the NBA and improving this year, that he is going to be a solid starting power forward by next year. I think he's going to be a good rebounder and smart offensive player, but the problem may be defending opposing 4s.
  19. I'm not totally against keeping Trevor Plouffe either, I just think it's going to slow down Sano's fielding development if they do.
  20. So what are the Twins going to know midseason that they don't know now about Sano's fielding if Plouffe is starting at third everyday? I know he wasn't able to practice much fielding late this year because of injuries, but I would have to think that they have a good idea that he'll be fine there based on improvements he's made throughout his minor league career.
  21. Playing in the field only a couple times a week won't do the Twins or Sano any good in regards to him improving that area of the game. And then next offseason, the same question of whether or not Sano can field would still be there, and there's a good chance that Plouffe won't have as much value as he does now.
  22. I don't think Nick is nearly as fast as Dee is, and that's where most of Dee's value comes from. Nick's bat will hopefully be better, and as a shortstop, he could be an all star, but second base is such an offensive position now that I don't know if he would be much more than average there.
  23. They certainly maximized RA Dickey's value. That trade looks like robbery in hindsight, although it is hard to knock the Jays too much for going after a Cy Young pitcher.
  24. If Nick Gordon isn't a really good fielding shortstop by the time he's ready for the majors, then I doubt he'll have enough of a bat to have any real value at another position.
