  1. Watching the rain delay in game 6 - FS1 has assembled a team of A-Rod, Pete Rose, Frank Thomas, CJ Nitkowski, and a sports guy. Well, damn, they are great! Pete Rose is funny, old-school, A-Rod is intelligent, deferring to the players in the game, Big Hurt is very keen in the analysis. Surprising. I like A-Rod in the booth: there, I said it.
  2. I feel he is getting sold short here - the guy has gone out and dominated guys years older than him at every level, and stands at the threshold of the majors at the ripe old age of 21, same as a college junior draftee. Trading him at this point would be madness. I know people are concerned about his size, but the Royals have a lot of guys 6' or less that are pitching quite effectively: Volquez, Ventura, Cueto, Herrera.
  3. Landa and Jorge are my 2 dark-horse candidates to fly up the charts in 2016
  4. Well, I imagine he thought he was redundant once upon a time.... Unless that was BS.
  5. Here is your definitive answer: Plouffe is the equivalent of splash, in French. Plouffe dans l'eau = splash in the water. That's why my French wife and our son love Plouffe. Doesn't hurt he's a good ballplayer.
  6. Considering there are still 30 prospects to go, this is a pretty impressive group 31-50. Several guys with a legit shot someday.
  7. Very happy with how this post-season has gone: both Texas teams, outski, Dodgers out. I like all 4 teams still playing, which almost never happens.
  8. Wade looks like the most likely to rise on this list to me. Thanks Seth, good read.
  9. What a game - Go Canada! To the gutter Texas. That is passion folks!
  10. Hurray for Chris Colabello - hard not to enjoy his success.
  11. Toronto fans are incredible, in all senses of the word. Love the noise and ambiance, hate the litter. It's like watching footie. Loud, proud and totally spontaneous. Most fun I've had watching a game in a while, compounded by the day off and my dislike of the Rangers.
  12. I like Chicago, and like the Cubs best of all the teams there. Good young ballclub they have there.
  13. I thought TR sucked at trades, or so I've often read on this forum. Why lose Plouffe if all we get is a middling relief pitcher? Am I right?
  14. Let's try and get Cuddy back too
  15. It can change - I lived in Boston 93-94. I remember a tshirt at the airport, "Boston Red Sox, 1918 World Series Champs." Funny at the time, but 3 championships later, yeah. White Sox, annoying as hell, won their WS too. Remove incomprtence from the formula, and the Cubs seem poised for success at every level.
  16. I'm starting to dislike Arrieta: I'd never heard of the guy, then tuned in about inning 6 for the no-hitter, discovered his history(poor Oriole fans), and he has been on an insane roll ever since. However, he is the spit and image of a former douchebag college roommate. Incredible dominance though. Cubs caught fire in a bottle this time. This guy could do for them what Bumgarner did for the Giants.
  17. Kevin Correia could dominate with a strike zone as big as the one the ump is giving Arrieta - he's ringing up guys on pitches 2 inches off the plate.
  18. Interesting fact about Keuchel. Hits allowed the last 3 seasons: 184, 187, 185. A model of consistency? Not exactly. Innings pitched the last 3 seasons: 153, 200, 232. Fun with numbers.
  19. Should be an interesting ballot - Arrieta seemed a no brainer until I looked at Grienke's numbers: then Kershaw's: all are deserving. It will be close. Scherzer is a "victim of coicustance."
  20. That is a great list: I do remember them all now though - just wow.
  21. Fantastic: Ruben Sierra? Missed that. Harden is another good one.
  22. Every so often I am reminded of a player who made a great career elsewhere that spent a spell in the Twins uni, much as Harmon Killebrew did with the Royal (grrrr). Here is my short list, I'm sure there others: Steve Carlton Jim Thome(recent, I remember, but really?) Joe Crede Jose Offerman Bill Singer
  23. I would sign him, but let him know I was unleashing the hounds on him - Arcia, Buxton, Kepler, Hicks, Rosario, even Walker: these guys are hungry and want to play. "Mr. Hunter, we welcome back your person into the team, but beware, you might want steel reinforced underwear, because they'll be chomping at ya. Competition is never a bad thing. BTW, if you look at Jeter's 39-40 seasons, and Hunter's, Torii mops up the floor with the captain, or Ripken. The one guy off the top of my head who performed better at 40 was Ibanez. And Thome offensively - Torii still plays the field. He really is a phenomenon.
  24. HATE! ANGER! ETC! Why bother? Just do what I do and kick a door or a wall, stub your toe...then you really got something to gripe about....
  25. Loved Yost's salute/thumbs-up across the diamond there. Class act.
