  1. I suspect some of picks 6-10 might also come in under slot. Wouild be nice if they could sign Benninghoff.
  2. MLB had this to say about Rooker: Senior, so he could be a nice add to the system for cheap.
  3. The latter half of their top ten look like guys who might sign below slot. That could help for guys like Benninghoff.
  4. So far, on paper, this is looking like a good draft.
  5. Speaking of Cody, our friend Kyle has yet to get picked - guess he made a mistake there. Baddoo looks like a nice consolation prize there. Really glad MLB gives you something for those who don't sign.
  6. Interesting to see 2 OF, 1 C, and 1 IF in the first 4 picks, and 0 P. Looks like hitters are the priority this year, and no quck fix college bats either. Very interesting indeed.
  7. Here's more fuel for the fires of regret, Big league shtew's all stars: NL catcher hurts ... always hated that deal. https://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/mlb-big-league-stew/roundtable--which-player-deserves-more-all-star-votes-173342031.html
  8. Still don't see how mashing away at AAA is gonna help him figure out how to hit major league pitching.
  9. Reading the Lacrosse tribune: 1. Headline reads : "Grichuk, Cardinals walk off against slumping Cubs." The Cubs have lost 14 games all year, and are in 1st by 5 games. I'd take that as a "slump." 2. Looking over the AL leaders, the Twins have a single representative: Danny Santana is tied with Jacoby Ellsbury for 5th in steals with 9. He deserves some love. 3. Chris Sale is looking like a lock for Cy Young atm. Best record, era, and 5th in Ks. Much more competition in the NL. Heading east to see a Pirates game, and a AA game in Akron. How's that for random?
  10. Me too. I'm sick of the Twins trotting out a lineup of feast or famine power hitters, with high K rates. Gimme a a .300 hitter with gap power over that anyday: or at least have a few spinkled throughout the lineup. K K K solo HR K K is no way to win. BTW, the Twins have a legacy of good average hitter. They need to get back to that, back to difficult outs in the lineup.
  11. Maybe if a member of THIS Twins team has a problem with criticism coming from a HOF pitcher, they should have a nice, warm cup of shut the hell up.
  12. The Twins suck so bad they deserve 1 and 2 overall. OTOH, the last time the Twins and Braves blew this hard, something wonderful happened. Really great!
  13. On the bright side, Park has more homers than the Twins have wins. This could get interesting....
  14. Is there another Moilina brother floating around out there?
  15. Nice to see Turner heating up. If he could just provide average offense, the Twins catching problem might have a long-term solution.
  16. Lots to like in this thread. Patience, and good coaching, those are key with young players. I was afraid the Twins were gonna dump and run on Arcia, and am glad to see some success this season due to, well, patience and coaching. The dude just turned 25 this week, so there is plenty of reason for optimism.
  17. I agree - he seems to be trusting his stuff and going after hitters. That's the way to start your career. He can make adjustemnts as he learns, but I like his mound presence. Umps haven't been really helping him out much yet either.
  18. I know this thread is for the upcoming draft, but anyone know any top prospects for 2017? Looks like we may be in line for another premium top 5 pick. NM - just found Hrbowski's list. http://twinsdaily.com/blog/531/entry-8359-way-too-early-2017-2018-draft-prospects/
  19. David McCarty and Willie Banks are good examples of how high national ranking doesn't always equate to big-league stardom. Baseball America allows you to look at the top 100 prospects for every year back to 1990. Very interesting to see some very highly ranked prospects flame out over the years, a la Brien Taylor or Todd Van Poppel. https://www.baseballamerica.com/today/prospects/rankings/top-100-prospects/all-time#2015 OTOH, quite a lot make it big as well. It's not an exact science.
  20. I am surprised they cut Graham - he has a very live arm, and managed a sub 5 ERA and 7.5/9 K rate last year as a 25 year old rule 5 stash. He works at 95 with his fastball. This makes zero sense to me. Unless the Roochester bullpen is so stacked there is no room for him - yeah, that must be it.
  21. Wasn't the the Three Stooges theme song?
  22. I looked over them as well. The Padres are in on 6, including 2 in the top 5, 3 in the top 10, 4 in the top 15. Braves also favorites for 6. They both must be going all in this year. Nationals mentioned thrice, Cards, Brewers and Phillies twice. Very few of these linked to AL teams: just 2 to the A's, and one each to Seattle and Texas. A few of the Cubans are just striaght up free agents, thus not linked to anybody at this point. Seems like the Twins Venezuelan pipeline has dried up. Maybe we have some Aussies tucked away in the outback with pens in hand.
  23. Oswaldo - he's putting up pretty silmilar numbers to what he had last season before getting hurt. He is whiffing a ton, but he's had some decent at bats, and is geting some clutch hits. Like his potential as a lefty power bat in this Twins ineup.
