  1. Surprised to see Britton fetch the Yankees #6 prospect per Baseball America. He seems pretty removed from his All-Star days, is a rental, and won't be eligible for a qualifying offer. Maybe there will be some desperate buyers out there after all.
  2. Well it is encouraging when someone starts off better than expected, especially a bonus pool saver.
  3. He has hit for power in the minors - as many as 21 HR, and OPS in the 8-900 range. Still, would rather see a guy like Wade get a shot. Hazelbaker is 30.
  4. I think both Cleveland and San Diego can be happy with this trade. Hand is really coming into his own, 13.2 k/9 this season, hard to hit lefty with years left on a bargain contract. Fills a huge gaping need for a team with post-season aspirations. San Diego gets a blue chip prospect in Mejia around which they can build along with Tatis, Gore, Urias, etc. Good baseball trade.
  5. And every team coulda had Pedroia, Kluber, Judge, JD Martinez(who the Twins actually drafted in 06), 23 teams coulda had Trout, etc. I hate those kind of hindsight comments.
  6. Kind of gives a first hand view of the ideas you see about acquiring Archer, Realmuto, etc. Seems absurd to consider.
  7. Every other sport allows exuberant, adrenaline fueled celebrations of the most extravagant order. Why should baseball players get butthurt if the other team celebrates their success when all other pro athletes just accept it?
  8. Considering St.Peter's quote above, and seeing the value isn't gonna be great for most of these guys, the question is who looks like spare parts if the Twins want to sell some and remain relevant at the same time. Odorizzi and Lynn for sure if Erv gets back soon. Give Romero, Meija, Gonsalves a chance. Duke. He's been solid, but Moya has been incredible at Rochester this year and could get that lefty BP slot. Keep Rodney - cheap, and a club option, plus keeps Belisle from inheriting the role. Keep Dozier and Escobar - EE is the best chip, but also the hardest to replace. Qualifying offers, draft picks, all sounds good to me. I would trade all of them though if the offer was too good to resist.
  9. Another cool thing about Wade that bodes well for his future - he has had more walks than strikeouts every year in the minors, including 2018. Leads to some nice OPS numbers as well.
  10. He sure looks a lot older than 21.
  11. I had the opportunity to tour it some years back, but never got to see a game there. It is a jewel in a great city. San Diego is certainly one of the points of origin of the "West Coast IPA."
  12. Too bad Dave has fallen off the face of the Earth: Cave >> Hicks.
  13. thanks fir knowing this stuff. Buxton is still only 24. It took guys like Hunter, Koskie, Dozier longer than that to get it all straightened out. Even Morneau didn't break out until 25.
  14. Absolutely. He is a rookie after all, no?
  15. Watched highlights of the game - Gibson's 2 strike breaking ball is just sick. I think he has a plan, and he's sticking to it.
  16. He puts a charge into the baseball when he connects - gets around those bases quickly as well. Thanks for posting.
  17. That is one happy aspect of not competing this season: there will be no temptation to make a Matt Capps-like deal with a top prospect.
  18. I reject the basis of this argument, Reusse's supposition that pitchers don't want to throw to Garver.
  19. Watching the NESN broadcast of the Red Sox tonight, they made it sound a near certainty that Pedroia was done for the season - his recovery, if rushed , could end his career, so they are preaching patience. Nunez could return to a utility role, and Dozier could do great things in Fenway. Not sure if Boston is interested, or what they might offer, but you can be sure they want to win the division above all. A late surging, Gold Glove Dozier could help them accomplish that. Getting Gordon a shot seems the logical choice.
  20. Aww, you're no fun anymore. SSN: 471-03-3412 Credit card number: 4273 3499 2309 4612
  21. Allez les Bleus!
  22. Just saw that Pedroia will not be back anytime soon. Dozier + the Green Monster could be fun.
  23. C - play Garver. He isn't a black hole of offense, and not a disaster on defense either. DH - Vargas has been heating up in Rochester. Bring him back.
  24. Thanks for the summaries - saved me the trouble of reading the articles.
  25. Amazing what a visit from by far the 2 worst teams in baseball can do for restoring the faith.
