  1. Welcome to AAA Mr. Colina. Hope the next outing goes better. Can't imagine how cool it would be to see Buxton back in CR for the fans. He is prominently displayed there as an alum (alongside Mike Trout).
  2. Watched him pitch at Target Field in the spectacular extra-inning loss. He is good. Held the Twins at bay and is sporting a pretty gaudy ERA
  3. So Adrianza is under control for another year - pretty hard to ask more of a utility guy. Arraez is the phenom heir-apparent to 2b or longterm utility guy. Polanco has himself a shiny new 6 year deal. Marwin has another year as well, and there is also La Tortuga. I'd like Gordon to be more than a premium trading chip, but with Lewis now just a level behind, I just don't see much room for him.
  4. In my memory Texas was a team that often had the Twins' number - to sweep them 4 games in Texas - speechless. I think the Twins pretty much destroyed any wild-card dreams they had, and the crowd in the videos I watched seemed to say the same. Onward!
  5. The Twins are dead last in MLB in steals with 25 (caught 20 times). Not sure adding a speedster fits into the game plan.
  6. He needs to figure it out at AAA. Maybe next year. He's still young. So glad the Twins didn't trade Graterol: he could be a solid add in a couple weeks.
  7. As I was floating in my blimp above Miller Park, I saw a team in trouble, having a hard voyage, and isn't that what it's all about, the voyage? Lots of turbulence: it has been a bumpy ride. Yet, when I embarked on my voyage 5 months ago, I never expected that mid-August would reveal .600 baseball, and 1st place. Regardless of how this all unfolds, it certainly has been an interesting ride.
  8. Sammons seems to be quality since the Twins drafted him. Good lefties are hard to find. I really appreciate the links to MiLB, and usually look those over, and click the links to players I want to know more about. This team pic of Matt Cantinero made my day: http://www.milb.com/images/683764/t492/180x270/683764.jpg Looks too happy to be a pro athlete.
  9. The Astros look great on paper. So do the Yankees. Yet I've seen the Twins knock Severino out of a playoff game. I've seen them beat Verlander. Cleveland? Fuggetaboutit. They play the games for a reason, and the best team on paper only wins some of the time.Perhaps the Twins have a post-season beast waiting to be unleashed we don't know about yet.
  10. Fixing bad control seems a Dedunoesque task. Good luck Wes & Co.
  11. We watched it with Perkins, Hughes, Ervin; when they're done, get out the fork.
  12. Nick Gordon has 29 doubles, 14 steals in 18 attempts, a .304 average, an OPS over .800, and is still just 23. He has also spent more time at short than second this season. I'm kind of glad he's still a Twin prospect.
  13. The best part is all those premium prospects will be a year closer to the majors by this time next year, and the Twins kept all of them. The organizational "cup" has been filling these last few years; next year it may start to overflow, which will be a good problem to have.
  14. Not making any more deals doesn't equate to doing nothing. I'm sure the Twins are trying their damndest to get some pitching help, but so is just about every other contender. I'd rather they stand pat than make a desperation trade like Ramos for Capps, or end up fleeced in what looks like a sellers market. I believe a guy like Thorpe could be as good as some of the proven commodities being shopped around out there.
  15. The window is just opening. It could be open for a good long while, especially if there is a steady stream of MLB ready prospects in the pipeline, which is not quite yet the case. Next year it might be, but not if you trade away all the best ones.
  16. Any idea why Clay has never gotten a chance with the Twins? He was drafted and developed for the bullpen, and there are openings I hear.
  17. That sure doesn't seem like much of a return for Toronto.
  18. 17 saves. At the least, it takes pressure off Rogers, and puts the 2 inning save to bed. There wasn't anybody else in the Twin bullpen to trust with a save opportunity. Now there is.
  19. Does anybody see Charlie Barnes at the back of the Twins rotation someday?
  20. This type of trade has a spotty track record for the buyer, Archer being the prime example, but Sonny Gray didn't really work out for the Yankees, and there was the famous Shelby Miller for Dansby Swanson debacle. I'm sure the Blue Jays asking price would hurt, especially considering the Twins won't be alone in bidding for his services. It would likely take more than prospects you are comfortable giving up like Gonsalves, Duran, or Gordon.
  21. Echo Willie Joe Garry being fun to follow - he moved from batting 9th to leadoff and came through big time.
  22. As the trade talks heat up, one guy I hope the Twins take off the table is Balazovic. There is an article about him in the Athletic, and he sounds like Berrios 2.0 with the work ethic, but in a 6'4" frame and with an emerging change-up to compliment the mid 90s heat. This guy has future ace written all over him. Sorry if you aren't a subscriber: https://theathletic.com/1080988/2019/07/17/as-trade-deadline-nears-twins-prospect-jordan-balazovic-continues-to-impress/
  23. MLB just posted "5 trade ideas so crazy they might just work," which had the Twins acquiring Stroman and Giles for a package of Graterol, Javier, Jax, Maciel, and Widell. https://www.mlb.com/news/5-trade-ideas-as-deadline-approaches I think the Twins would take that deal in a heartbeat.
  24. I'm pretty sure Matt Lawton was part of the Soul Patrol, with Hunter and Jones.
  25. This would've been a nice time to give Zander Wiel his turn, seeing as he's been playing lots of 1b in Rochester.
