  1. I don't know if the Twins are real or pretender but there's no doubt in my mind our club is in a better spot than the White Sox. A lot better spot. They made it close last night but they are a lousy group of players except for one or two guys in the bullpen.
  2. Fair enough. Not knowing anything about the business, that's the first thing I'm looking for. Looks like Q4 didn't get much of a bump over Q3 either. Q2 did though so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. I'm gonna stay on the sidelines so probably the price will shoot to the moon over the next 12 months just like SHOP, NVDA, etc every other stock I haven't bought.
  3. I looked into SQ on your recommendation Brock but top line growth in the last qtr. looked pretty lackluster for a growth company. Is that temporary?
  4. "Past results do not guarantee future performance."
  5. NVDA good grief.
  6. This is interesting. https://www.washingtonpost.com/sports/nationals/major-league-baseball-players-have-a-lot-of-time-on-their-hands/2014/05/14/ec46c8fa-d6de-11e3-8a78-8fe50322a72c_story.html?utm_term=.54a0e50ab107
  7. We've been hearing this a lot. What exactly is that routine and how would it preclude DH-ing? Or, how would the demands of DH-ing stop a player pitching once every 5 games?
  8. If Provus/Gladden know anything, the deal is the Twins want Berrios' next call up to be his last. They feel that letting him simmer in Rochester for most of the spring is the best way to insure that.
  9. That might be true but we need to remember he's a 17 year old kid we're talking about. He is allowed to make some mistakes and especially with all the social media it would be very hard not to make some very public ones. In the SI piece written about Greene it shows a kid who is very active with charity and seems to dedicate a lot of time time and energy to various local causes in California, so he's got that going too. That being said it seems like maybe he's had the male version of a beauty-pageant childhood. Every single step of his baseball "career" seems to have been carefully plotted dating back to a very young age. Something to consider, or maybe its nothing.
  10. "We just rolled over dat there snowbank and kept goin like nuttin happend!"
  11. IMO McKay is less risk and higher ceiling. As a pitcher he has been comped to Cliff Lee. As a hitter, well, he's #2 among D1 players in OBP, 11 in slugging percentage, and strikes out at a very good 10.5%. Well below the likes of Kendall, Rooker, etc. There's plenty of ceiling in the bat. And as I've said before, there is the jackpot scenario where he develops into Cliff Lee on days he pitches and hits like Justin Morneau the other 4/5 games. Delivering 11-12 WAR/year plus opening up a roster spot. What's that guy worth in today's market, maybe $100m / year?
  12. I don't think that's unanimous. He just had a 4-5 game with 4 home runs. Someone with a better memory can fill in the blank but one of the national draft pundits recently tweeted or blogged that McKay's bat might have more upside. Or am I imagining that?
  13. I think my next buy's going to be FB. Looks like they're in great shape financially and trends are excellent. Price seems reasonable, even cheap. Is there anything I'm missing?
  14. Using walks, WPs, and HBPs as proxies you'd have to infer that his control is pretty good.
  15. Here's his stats on maxpreps.com http://www.maxpreps.com/athlete/hunter-greene/uMJm9ZrFEeOzMAAmVebBJg/gendersport/baseball-stats.htm
  16. I worry that the entire industry, which has been following Greene since he was a grade schooler according to the SI piece, has some tunnel vision going on. Don't get me wrong, the velo is enticing and he seems like a high character kid but the amount of contact he allows just doesn't seem to warrant all the hyperbole IMHO.
  17. I was surprised too. Give it 10 minutes, if you don't like it, you won't like it. I thought it was the funniest comedy I'd watched in some time. Also it's set in the 90s with a lot of jokes about that era.
  18. Anyone watch Sandy Wexler? I was surprised how much it made me laugh. Some of Sandler's funniest stuff IMO.
  19. "when he is hitting well he cannot tell his teammates what pitches he is getting" Is that... true?
