  1. That said, ideally they find a way to improve the club in 2018 as well. If not 2019 too.
  2. I'm enjoying the ride too but I can't take it as given that the Twins are on an upward trajectory and will automatically be better in 2018 and beyond just because the core is young. Knuckle pushups, toy drones, intoxicated boating trips, etc (ok those are extreme examples). But there's no sure things in sports so when you find yourself in first place at this juncture then almost always you should be thinking along the lines of carpe diem IMO.
  3. Yeah, ditto Buxton. I would be looking at Rosario instead. BTW here is the link to the Wetmore piece: http://www.1500espn.com/twins-2/2017/05/wetmores-5-thoughts-5-things-twins-can-keep-good-times-rolling/
  4. Rooker currently slugging .881. Tops among all D1 players... next closest guy is .119 points behind (Ben Fisher). http://www.clarionledger.com/story/sports/college/mississippi-state/2016/06/03/msu-uses-bats-top-semo-starkville-regional-opener/85340054/ http://www.baseballamerica.com/business/driveline-turns-data-solutions/#lQZIlufPAwXOcQJV.97
  5. Get Rooker. Please get Rooker. The guy MASHES. Could be the next Goldschmidt.
  6. There are a capped amount of bitcoins that can be mined. The same I assume for Litecoins. This prevents inflation and actually is part of the reason these currnecies are increasing in value, right? OK. But there is no cap on the number of cryptocurrencies. Bitcoin, ethereum, litecoin, etc. A cursory google search of cryptocurrencies yielded a list of 100 cryptocurrencies. At some point will each of these cryptocurrencies experience "inflation" as the universe of cryptocurrencies (ie the money supplpy) continues to expand? edit: "View all" and the list expands to 832 cryptocurrencies.
  7. One thing we can all agree I think is an ace needs to be able to log big IP totals. Santana has 70 IP in 10 starts. That's ace-level innings eating I'd say. Oh and the last pitch of his CGSO tonight was a fastball at 95 mph.
  8. Wright was 87-90 in high school according to MLB.com. Personally I'm less concerned about where Greene's velocity will be in 4-5 years and more concerned about his arm holding up. He threw all of 28 innings this season. That's not much of a test if you ask me. Wright is up to 89.2 and counting. We know the best predictor of future health is past health. By the same token it seems likely that someone who get through a full college season healthy would be more of a guarantee health-wise than someone who doesn't even finish a high school season. But I dont' know that there's any research to support / disprove that theory.
  9. Any emerging markets investors? EWZ (Brazil) is having a 13% off sale. Evidently their president is being accused of paying hush money to a witness in a corruption investigation.
  10. Thanks, that's exactly what I was looking for. It should give us confidence in the 88-90 mph velo FB readings then. Something to keep an eye on for sure.
  11. Sickels has him 90-94. Nobody has suggested anything higher than that. Whichever range you want to believe, the 88-90 in his last outing would be on the low side, which is why I'm asking for links to reports about his cutter being mid-80s. I haven't come across those reports, and they haven't been linked to in the main draft thread (or here). If we can't get confirmation on his cutter velo then this concern about 88-90 in his last outing could be much ado about nothing. That's what I'm trying to figure out.
  12. I've not read anything suggesting McKay has mid-90s velo. 90-94 was/is the book on him. But there's been no mention of a cutter until recently.
  13. Yeah in lieu of injury I think its possible, maybe likely the 88-90 velo readings were the cutter, which could be a welcome development actually. BTW in that start everyone is so concerned about McKay did throw 5 shutout innings, striking out 7 (3 walks, 5 hits). Part of the love/hate following this stuff thirdhand.
  14. Wright's definitely got some helium. I'd like to see him finish the year strong and separate himself. Right now his YoY trends are relatively flat, McKay's are more explosive. Wright should have one more regular season start then at least one in the SEC tourney.
  15. None of that I'd consider very likely. Kinda sobering. I want to believe but maybe the smart move is to sell this year as Law says.
  16. Keith Law weighs in on the Twins early success on Buster Olney's podcast. @ 15:40 http://play.podtrac.com/espn-baseballtonightwithbusterolney/c.espnradio.com/audio/3354214/baseball_2017-05-15-105614.64k.mp3?ad_params=zones%3DPreroll%2CPreroll2%2CMidroll%2CMidroll2%2CMidroll3%2CMidroll4%2CMidroll5%2CMidroll6%2CPostroll%2CPostroll2%7Cstation_id%3D641
  17. Well this should be fun. Kintler the day after a five out save.
  18. Berrios is too talented not to succeed. This is going to be fun to a boon for the rotation.
