  1. Terrible throw by Dozier but once again Mejia, had he fielded his position like a pro, stops that ball from getting to the backstop and the damage is minimized.
  2. If he is pitching hurt then I don't want him to be healthy
  3. Could be. Or maybe its like when your dad went shopping for a $1000 used car but your mom only let him bring $500. So he pointed out every spot of rust and each tear in the upholstery in painstaking detail hoping to haggle the guy down on what was already a cheap car.
  4. Yeah he's not exactly Darvish but you know, 2nd tier and whatnot.
  5. Boy its not like we're one pitcher away from competing. If there's a red flag in the medicals, don't try to lower the $$$. Try to get ATL to throw in a reliever too!
  6. Was that the deal? Seems to contradict
  7. I doubt the **** show resulting from Trump's election was part of some grand plan by Putin. If anything maybe it shows a lack of understanding of American politics and the strength of institutions like the FBI. Manafort and others in Trump's circle (including Stone) have quite a bit of history in the Ukraine. I'm guessing Russia got involved to further its interests there.
  8. Alright so following the axiom that a fair trade is one that leaves all parties dissatisfied, what say we Twins fans? Mitch Garver + $4.7m?
  9. @BGB, what would be a fair price for Garcia in Twins prospects / players/ $$ in your opinion?
  10. Has anyone watched the "Get Me Roger Stone" doc on Netflix? That is probably the most cynical person I've ever seen. Like, clinical. He claims to draw the line at "whatever the law allows" but after watching that its hard to believe conspiring with the Russians in an election would be beneath his moral code.
  11. Braves talking to other teams anyways. Wonder if JP balked at the $5m price tag.
  12. Well, Levine said just a couple weeks ago that he wasn't inclined to spend "lavishly" for short term assets, which is what Garcia would be. So I wouldn't fret about an overpay.
  13. @Mike, I agree the 2017 Twins are analogous to the 2016 Yankees.... on the surface. There are some key differences that blow that apart however. 1. The 2016 Yankees were 6.5 games back and behind 5 other teams for the 2nd wild card spot. The 2017 Twins are in a much better spot vis a vis the playoff picture. 2. The 2016 Yankees had more premium trade assets. 3. The 2016 trade market seemed to favor sellers much more than the 2017 market. We haven't seen anything like the multiple top-100 prospects for a rental like the Chapman trade was, for example. As others have noted, there is no guarantee the Twins will be in such a good spot next deadline. And if they aren't, it would be good to have a legit trade chip like Gray (if healthy). Seems possible, maybe even likely, the market will be more favorable to sellers next year and the Twins could profit from the arbitrage if nothing else (minus a little time decay).
  14. Hernandez is Seattle's #6, but nationally he's unranked. He's a 19 year old outfielder with a career OPS of .702 in the minor leagues. Pretty cheap price if you ask me, like every other trade so far.
  15. Do the Twins have a Chapman / Miller type to trade? Even if they did, would a similar return be out there this year?
  16. I can see both sides, and a week ago I would have voted sell but seeing what prices are for pitching I think there are (or were) good deals out there. I would be all in favor of a trade like the Yankees or Nats just pulled off.
  17. That 3 run dong by Sano was BRUTAL. BTW this was the first home series win against the Yankees in the Target Field era. The curse is broken!
  18. The more I think about this trade the more masterful it seems from the Yankees perspective 1. They addressed a short term problem (Greg Bird surgery) with a short term fix (Frazier). 2. They addressed a long term need (the bullpen) by acquiring 5 years of cost controlled relief in Robertson and Kahnle. 3. They took what was widely rumored to be the Red Sox top trade target off the market (Frazier). 4. They offloaded an expensive underperforming veteran and freed a roster spot (Clippard). 5. They paid a ~#40 prospect and stuff.
  19. As a Twins fan, every one of the Sox moves going back to the Sale trade delights me. I think this rebuild is going to put them, at best, back where they started.
  20. That particular neck of the woods, 51st and Washburn, is pretty quiet. Looking at Minneapolis' crime map, there's been one reported sexual crime (rape) in the roughly 196 city blocks surrounding 51st and Washburn Ave S in the last year. And that incident (MP 2017 130407) was placed at 5100 York only because "this point has been randomly offset at the request of the agency to protect victim privacy." Who knows where it actually occurred. https://communitycrimemap.com/?rms=Minneapolis_Crime_Map&type=simple&address=Minneapolis%20MN Not to say a sexual assault couldn't have been occurring when Ruszczyk called 911, only that it would have been quite a rare thing for that neighborhood and might explain (although maybe not excuse) why the officers didn't have their body cams on when they arrived.
  21. I admit I didn't expect to see such steady progress from Rosario this summer. He has really turned it around. He now leads the team in batting average and has gotten his k-rate under 20%. Very solid progress.
  22. As I posted in the Quintana thread, Bob Nightingale reported (or maybe speculated) that the Tigers' weren't interested in trading Fulmer unless the Cubs included Javy Baez and Ian Happ. https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/mlb/2017/07/13/white-sox-cubs-cold-war-jose-quintana-trade/476409001/# Baez was the Cubs 2011 first round pick and Happ their 2015 first round pick (both taken 9th overall). Baez is 24, is a once-elite SS prospect whose stock has probably fallen a bit since he broke into the majors. Happ is a Zobrist type switch hitting IF/OF who was ranked in the ~65 range before the season and done well in limited MLB action so far. For the Twins to replica that, they'd need to offer Gordon, whose stock might even be a bit higher than Baez's at this point. And then maybe one of Rosario/Kepler/Buxton in place of Happ. Would Gordon + Buxton be a fair trade?
  23. Was there a particular pitch that was your tipping point?
