  1. I'm wondering who in the F is PWDK?
  2. Its 2009 and Sano is AAPL. There is a golden opportunity here. Let's go, make him a Twin for life.
  3. "Ground ball machine" Ugh.
  4. Duffey threw 69 pitches in his 8/11 start. 6 IP, 1 hit, 0R, 0BB, 5 K.
  5. He had started with a big leg kick last year, then Bruno toned it down and he hit well (Parker wrote about it). For whatever reason he brought it back this spring, maybe its to blame.
  6. Tump, Cruz, Carson 1-2-3 in a NBC poll. http://www.pdf.investintech.com/preview/33f7458c-3ec9-11e5-9555-002590d31986/index.html
  7. If anyone hasn't read up on Roe v. Wade, I recommend it. It gives you a sense of just how pointless the abortion debate is. Questions about exceptions for rape, health danger, etc. They have already been answered. Abortion was illegal except for these exceptions back in the 60s. But then a young woman wanted an abortion and claimed rape to get it. The woman had not filed a police report about the rape, therefore after she got the abortion the police got all up in her business, into her sex life. Eventually the Supreme Court struck down the law on 9th amendment/privacy grounds. (That's my TLDR understanding at least, perhaps one or two of the lawyers on TD can weigh in). Think about that level of government intervention. If a woman wants to have an abortion, we don't launch a police investigation into every single sexual act of her life to make sure its legal. Roe v. Wade is the precedent that courts will recall forever and ever. So its a stupid moot question at this point. Elective abortion is legal, period. Abortion is obviously a grissly heinous thing. Therefore the goal at this point should only be to reduce the number of abortions. Condoms are an easy, cheap way. IUDs too.
  8. Damn! Just missed Root beer float day. Question: What is the best root beer?
  9. Ouch http://www.politifact.com/personalities/donald-trump/
  10. "They send the bad ones over."
  11. Its sad because you know there are one or two good ideas most of the candidates have. But they have to sandwich it into so much mumbo jumbo about the usual stuff in order to pacify their base that its impossible to tell who actually thinks what about anything. How much is crazy and how much is just said to remain relevant. What a **** show the Republican base is.
  12. I know we're a shrinkinig group but I think Mauer has some leash left. Maybe bat him bottom half but I think he has 2-3 good (.800+) seasons left in him.I just cannot believe he's totally washed up already.
  13. IMO you have to keep Plouffe at least one more year. Teams just don't pony up for 2 years vs. 1 year of control. With that in mind, I keep the status quo. Nobody is forcing the issue. Hunter will be gone, there will be 1-2 spots open in the outfield for Arcia, depending on where Buxton starts. I don't see a crunch right now.
  14. Alright I intentionally avoided the "stick a fork in it" title because well, I'm jumping the gun a tad and why risk it. But, there is an Ebola vaccine, it has been administered to 4000 Guineans already, and it appears to be working as well as could be hoped for. Really, really amazing when you think about it. http://who.int/mediacentre/news/releases/2015/effective-ebola-vaccine/en/
  15. I just thought it was funny that Trump used the bankruptcy question to talk about national debt. Its definitely a departure from the usual "cut spending" or "raise taxes" (or cut taxes) stuff.
  16. Trump: Trump companies have declared bankruptcy 4 times. I've cost my lenders billions of dollars while increasing my net worth. The country is 19 trillion dollars in debt. It needs someone like me to straighten out its mess.
  17. There's inside, and there's INSIDE. You mention inner third. I'm talking about those three pitches in your second photo, ie. INSIDE. I'm more interested in the pre-emption aspect. If the Royals just plunked Donaldson and then saw him go 0-3, the Twins might have started Donaldson out peppering the ribs/shoulder area. Just to get into his head for the rest of the game and the even the rest of the series. Possibly snap that 20+ game hitting streak he has against us.
  18. Miguel Sano is drawing walks at a 2:1 pace over Joe Mauer.
  19. I will post a fun one eventually but this stunned me when I heard it last night: Mark Buehrle has 30 career wins against the Twins.
  20. Parker I was surprised by your conclusion. After reading this part it suggests maybe the Twins should have followed suit.
  21. I'll pile on. Does it seem like this team makes a lot of outs on the bases? FWIW fangraphs says the Twins have lost 7.5 runs on the bases this season. I wonder if this is how great players rarely seem to become good managers. Like maybe they're applying the logic of their own talents onto less talented players. Eg. Plouffe getting picked off of 2nd base in the first inning yesterday. Plouffe.
  22. A while back fangraphs did a study and found just under half of committed bunt attempts actually put the ball in play. The truth is, not only are the benefits of the strategy dubious, but the execution is difficult. You're probably going to give away at least one swinging strike. There's an unquantified percentage of times where hitters will pull back the bat and take a called strike. And of course still more PAs that will go to two strikes and the batter will have to swing the bat anyway, only now he'll have to try to hit a pitchers pitch. Seems to me that such a risky tactic as bunting ought to have a higher payoff than merely advancing the runners (at the cost of an out) in order to even be on the table. edit: here's the fangraphs page http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/the-truth-about-bunting/
  23. May has one too many good pitches to be a bullpen piece IMO. Fastball, curve, change, all good. But damn is it nice to watch a guy come out of the pen and dominate for a change.
  24. He did warm last night but didn't pitch. Maybe he as a little gassed? As for intentionally walking the winning run, the M's did that last night and it didn't go so well.
