  1. And right on queue - base hit off the slider!
  2. Right on queue - strikeout! That slider is nasty.
  3. OK how long has Rosario had a brace on his left wrist?
  4. Rosario's Punto impressions are pretty rough but you have to admit the kid shows promise.
  5. You can Bitesquad Izzy's. They're open til 11 IIRC so you better hurry.
  6. I sometimes crunch up a sugar cone and rain it over the top.
  7. Plouffe is making up for all those solo shots in 2012
  8. Who said you can't hit home runs at O.Co at night?
  9. Sano seems to have a really good eye. I continue to be impressed by his PAs.
  10. Oops. Sorry everyone for knocking probably the 5th most notable player of all time for Twins fans off the board (Knoblauch). I missed the idea on that one. So to make up for it here's someone that nobody remembers (besides Chief). Cy Young
  11. I think I'd get behind a Vogt trade, depending on the price. I like that he's LH and he has kind of a reverse Coors effect going on (better split on the road). Plus it would be funny when Gladden calls him Stephen Voigt again and again.
  12. Fire Molitor!
  13. I agree, and thank Christ for that. Still, its embarrassing that this goes on at any level.
  14. Let's be honest, the idiots are Republican voters. Congress is just satisfying a demand here.
  15. The economy? Education? Diplomacy? Nah we're going to focus on this big fat zero because it FEELS bad to voters and its trending on Twitter. Honestly we deserve exactly the politics we get sometimes.
  16. It makes sense to me. Promoting Duffey or Rogers to the MLB pen could easily cost a lower price (a roster spot) for a better player (esp. if the alternative is another over the hill veteran rental from the Padres). It does not cement his career irreversibly as a reliever. Phil Hughes is proof of that, as is 4/5 of the Cardinals rotation, and other starters around baseball. Not to mention that the Twins seem to believe there is some kind of relief-to-starter inefficiency that they have been crafting their draft strategy around for a couple years. IMO they have to try at least one of their own guys in the pen before they bungle another trade for a "proven" or "veteran" guy a la Matt Capps. They have the roster space.
  17. My bad. After actually reading through the links, the implication is about Planned Parenthood profiting off the black market sale of aborted fetuses ("Sale," not "donating"), which is obviously total bunk and why are we even talking about **** like this? Honestly, if this type of stuff even hits your radar - how does it hit your radar? This is pretty radical, fringy stuff.
  18. Chuck Knoblauch
  19. Am I the only one that thinks the idea of donating aborted fetuses for scientific research is totally fine?
  20. Yes, good point. Actually they need 10 more wins than the Royals if my understanding of tie breaks is right. What I was trying to do is get an idea of how tall an order that is after accounting for every possible improvement in play and roster, personnel, roles, etc. What do you think, 4-5 games? More?
  21. I think the Twins gain about 1.5 games on the Royals just by virtue of the fact that the Royals lose Gordon and the Twins gain Santana. Another win could be gained cleaning up the baserunning. Another win from internal promotions/demotions in the pen (Boyer to mop-up, May to late&close, etc), and using Perkins in more close games and fewer 4 run leads. That would leave roughly 1 game to make up via roster changes, either through trade or perhaps internal promotions.
  22. Let me back up. Do you think the goal should be to merely make the playoffs? Or to win the division outright, earn a first round by, and therefore double their chances of advancing to at least the ALCS? And if so, how much would you be willing to pay in terms of talent if an opportunity presented itself to really move the needle?
  23. Baseball has been moving toward the best-batter-in-the-2-hole for a little while. I know Josh Donaldson is getting most his PAs in the 2-hole, for example, as is Rizzo. There are probably others.
  24. The Royals don't have much in the way of reinforcements for bats, so I think the loss of Gordon could sting more than the loss of say, a starter. Gordon was arguably their best bat. But they have a ton of arms already and more coming (Zimmer, Finnegan, etc). They should pitch but if the bats go cold it might not matter.
