  1. I wouldn't fiddle. He's the best hitter on the team, getting the most PAs. No problem, IMO.
  2. If the Twins can dominate the 2nd half, and capture the ALC division outright, then their WS odds will be DOUBLE that of a wild card. What do they need to do to make that happen?
  3. Oops, here: http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/the-worst-called-ball-of-the-first-half/
  4. Kurt Suzuki has (almost) caught the first half's strikiest ball. -3 inches from the center of the zone, for the 2nd year in a row. http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/the-seasons-ball-iest-called-strikes-so-far/ Last' season- 1.4 inches from center of zone: http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/the-seasons-strike-iest-called-balls-so-far/
  5. The sanctions have been devastating from what I understand. Also that is a pretty clear humble brag there Dave (that your girlfriend is Iranian - good god those gals are attractive).
  6. What exactly is his weakness(es)?
  7. I think the odds are better one of Escobar, Santana, or Nunez is traded. We are getting pretty far along to have all 3 on the roster still. IMO Arcia and Meyer both have a lot of unrealized value but are just blocked by the roster situation (partly to blame is the presence of 3 utility infielders).
  8. I go back and forth, but right now I'd roll with Rosario. I don't see a clear weakness to his game, does anyone else? (besides a general overaggressiveness). Until one shows itself I'd probably let Arcia mash in AAA where hopefully he is working on his weakness (inability to turn around a belt high heater). But having him up next spring should be about a 1:1 replacement for Hunter or maybe better. With Rosario/Hicks/Buxton taking up the other two spots the defense should be fine overall. Those 4 should make for a solid OF rotation with the ability to left-right matchup, etc.
  9. ........................
  10. Bulldog you should make this a weekly Article
  11. Unconscented sex? Yeah and I also favor polluting the aquifers and dumpster abortions. Honestly, do you want to talk realistically or just be self-righteous? The truth is there is a huge sloppy middle class of sex that occurs all the time in colleges where consent is irrelevant due to the alcohol factor. All of these instances could be contorted as Criminal Sexual Conduct in the Third Degree, a felony punishable by up to 15 years prison for a first time offender. i mean, no wonder these girls don't come forward. Maybe if we did a better job acknowledging the nuance and fit the punishments more appropriately to the crimes, with consideration for youth and alcohol, we'd start to make some better headway. That's all I'm suggesting.
  12. Maybe I'm an ******* but to me the youth and alcohol part of the encounter should factor. It shouldn't excuse from any consequences but I think that going to college, getting ****faced together and then doing dumb **** in the sack is a part of growing up. Obviously there are some actions where you have to bring down the hammer but the ethics definitely are clouded in a lot of cases, IMO. And its not like giving consent when under the influence is worth a damn anyway.
  13. That's kinda the part I wonder about. I would hope in today's culture, nothing like what Cosby did would stand a chance at being kept a secret. I suspect most of the stuff that goes unreported on campus falls into the uncomfortable middle ground between beachside honeymoon sex and full blown rape. "Sexual misconduct" you might call it, where both parties share blame and alcohol is a big factor and where everyone's decisionmaking skills are severely impaired. It seems to me that this rule is designed to target that, but I could be wrong. I doubt there is a whole lot of cut-and-dried rape going on on campus. Maybe I'm naive about that though.
  14. Oh well the answer is easy then. Webcam
  15. I ain't even mad. Gardner has paid his dues. In a way, he was Alex Gordon before Alex Gordon was Alex Gordon.
  16. I'm still confused. Won't this still boil down to a he said/she said? Or does it shift the burden of proof on to the man somehow?
  17. What is the judicial concept that would be subverted?
  18. One guy that might make for an interesting trade target is the recently demoted 5th starter whose stuff plays up in short stints. Wil Smith was that guy 2 years ago, now he's a stud whose value is a lot higher than a Nori Aoki-rental. So was Wade Davis. Maybe that guy exists on team with a stacked rotation - Nats, Mets, etc? edit: evidently the Aoki for Smith trade occurred in the winter so a bit more than a rental I guess.
  19. Welp, Duffey throws hard, doesn't walk many, and is dominating AAA. Seems like a worthy candidate and all it would cost is a 40 man spot. Meyer has promise. Taylor Rogers?
  20. In 10 of his last 13 appearances, Boyer has allowed the first batter he faced to reach base.
  21. Is Trevor May not in the pen? I thought I heard he was moved to the pen.
  22. Can he get around on a belt high heater yet?
  23. But then Buxton's coming back, and Kepler behind him. Even if there's a dropoff at SS you can probably make up for some of that by moving Hunter (or Arcia) to DH and running a better defensive OF. Seems about as reasonable as moving an infielder into the OF for the first time and sacrificing a key bat in the process, IMO.
  24. I'm guessing a Range Rover.
  25. I just do not see it with Escobar. It seems like he's always 0-2. Always digging out of a hole. Can't bunt. Not fast enough to steal a base. Average fielder. Santana's not the answer right now, Polanco's not ready. None of these guys should be starting. Crazy as it sounds, my guy right now would be Nunez. Or Plouffe.
