Might as well get the rehab started as early as possible

    100% YES

Roll call. Who in here is old enough to have watched Butch Wynegar play? :)

I've seen some assuming Ober and Kremer get non-tendered. With Pablo and Abel coming back from injuries, and about 20 innings combined this year, I don't know how you can just non-tender them? Zebby certainly has pitched himself into the conversation. If they get anything....ANYTHING....from Festa it's gravy. I'd love for there to be enough depth to unleash Rojas as a 2-inning bullpen weapon (assuming he can figure out where the strike zone is!) :)

German Marquez starting for St.Paul. 29-year old Chris Vallimont starting for Witchita. Remember when Derek Falvey was hired to establish a pitching pipeline????

Dang...I was gonna post my preferred version but his is basically it.
  8. HerbieFan
Agree. 100%. Defensively, with his arm, it's going to have to be LF or 2B. I think we know what he'll be doing all winter.

We all know he's WAY past his previous career high for innings pitched. Maybe wouldn't be a bad idea to try and figure out what has plagued him the 3rd time through the order and have him work on those things in two-inning stints out of the bullpen? They're not making the playoffs so I don't see the point in continuing to push him so far past the innings threshold.

Ahh the voice of reason. Thanks Mikelink45.

Minnesota sports fans being Minnesota sports fans. Same people complaining about them adding at the deadline are probably the same people who would have been complaining if the didn't. This team overachieved for 120 games. They made a couple additions to try and reward the players on the roster for that. I don't blame them for that. The ship has sailed however so we move forward, and I'm looking forward to a month of seeing Jenkins, Culpepper, Keaschall, Lee, Lewis....Emmanuel Rodriguez after Sept. 1....give us a look at what the future holds.

I'd like to see information about location in his last couple outings. Seemed to be finding a lot more of the white of the plate and a lot less of the black.
  13. HerbieFan
    Id guess the second one...
  14. HerbieFan
Culpepper and now Jenkins. The future has arrived. Culpepper got #12, as opposed to some spring training one, so he isn't going anywhere. See if the same happens to Jenkins.

    Falvey's parting gift. Thanks Derek.

I saw that Milwaukee game. I think he's done a great job of attacking ground balls since. He seems to be a quick learner. Hopefully the chase rate improves with experience.

I don't know how the club could have Festa in their 2027 plans at all. I think anything they get from him should be considered a bonus. I also don't know how they can count on Ober given the continued decline in velocity. Lopez, Ryan, Taj are a great start to a rotation. Kremer has the track record to claim one of the last two spots. I'm hoping Abel looks good enough to take the other. I'd like to see Zebby given a chance in ST to compete for the #4 or #5 spot in the rotation. If Abel takes a spot then Zebby gets transitioned to the bullpen. To me they need to just put Royce at 1B and leave him there. For the rest of 2026 and 2027. Keaschall looks like a LF to me. Get the kid some work in the offseason and ST. He's athletic enough to be an asset.

All acceptable reasons to not call him up. I think it comes down to this: He's only 21 He's not on the 40-man so he could play in the minors next season when there's a lockout Waiting to next year (if/when there is mlb baseball) delays the start of his service time

If I had to bet...Rodriguez and a pitcher of some kind will be here in September.
  20. HerbieFan
I'd try and trade Larnach for a reliever. Someone like, oh I don't know, Bryan Abreau. :) If Ober's decline in velo had levelled off I'd feel better. But it seems to be continuing. I just don't know how you bring him back b/c of that.
  21. HerbieFan
I've heard conversations of who would be the 3rd game starter if this club can somehow overachieve even more and get in the playoffs. This is why I say it cannot be Bailey Ober. Ober of the past with a 91-92 mph heater, but not this version.
  22. HerbieFan
Agree 100%. Just because a player CAN play a position, doesn't mean he SHOULD.
  23. HerbieFan
"Closer" and "Fireman" are two different roles. And we know the save is an overrated statistic. Gomez isn't getting the most high-leverage situations (see Morris in the 6th against Baltimore). I'm not panicking but Shelty at least has options now in his bullpen.
  24. HerbieFan
Eh. I think they plan on Kremer being a #4/#5 guy. Which is still a good get.
  25. HerbieFan
A year from now Bell will be gone and Larnach becomes a DH/part-time LF
