No not at 21 (except Gaterol was called up, and quickly traded and SWR was up early as well, mostly forced but still) I was talking more along the lines of Miranda, Julien, Wallner, Severiono even to a lesser extent Festa this year being called up at a time most teams would have been calling them up they because they were hot and could be used. I not saying they wouldn't call up guys if forced or players forcing them, I am saying I think they like to. It is a great way to control costs, never really having to pay prime price for players. Would other teams been a bit more aggressive promoting EROD, Rosario, Raya, Schobel, Lewis last year out of high A? I don't know, but by not doing it might mean there is way less of a chance of them making it this year? I am not saying this as a complaint or saying they should have.

He just turned 21, doesn't he need at least 2-4 more years in the minors to prove he is ready and his first name isn't Jackson? /s agree with most if he is still hot a month from now and the outfield fielders are still struggling and if the team hasn't fallen too far out of first. I would bring him up. IMO this front office would like to keep players in the minors for as long as possible (unless forced) just to keep their clock from starting, guys that come up at this age and succeed get paid.

Resolving the Apparent Infield Logjam
TwinsDr2021 replied to stringer bell's topic in Minnesota Twins Talk
💯that is how you come up with a payroll. They could have let both walked and signed Flaherty or Montas for the same money. Instead they cut payroll in certain spots (SP) and kept the payroll the exact same and got Santana, Topa, a hurt starting pitcher and gave Farmer a 400k raise. If before the season somebody would have said the Twins could let Farmer and Polanco walk (not signed Magot or Santana) and signed Montas or Flaherty, and let Miranda, AK, Wallner, Severino DH and play 1B and outfield and had Lee, Helman or Prato play the role of farmer, and spent the payroll that way, compared to what they did, I would have been happier than and now, Going forward maybe not so much. But remember picking up Polanco and trading him for what they did didn't reduce payroll, because they signed Santana (5.25), picked up 4 million of DeSclafani and 1.25 for Topa (yes they got a couple of prospects). To be transparent coming off of just about any of year besides last year, I wouldn't have had as big of issue with it. In all reality they really just cut Gray (13.3), Pagan (3.5), Maeda (3.15), Gallo (11) Mahle (7.5) and Solano (2.1) and added a 6 relief pitchers to a division winning team.- 133 replies

Resolving the Apparent Infield Logjam
TwinsDr2021 replied to stringer bell's topic in Minnesota Twins Talk
Technically they did add him, because they gave him a 2 year 12.5 million dollar contract, with next year being a mutual option. So really a 1 year 6.3 million (250K buyout), the other option was not offering Arbitration and letting him walk.- 133 replies

Resolving the Apparent Infield Logjam
TwinsDr2021 replied to stringer bell's topic in Minnesota Twins Talk
IMO there were four or five options, Not pick up Polanco's 10.5 million option and not spend any of the money, use prospects/in house players. Not pick up Polanco's option, and use that money for players. Pick up his option (and not pick up Farmers) and save 6ish million. Pick up his option and Farmers option and be forced to trade one of two and fill his spot in house. Pick up his option and Farmers option and be forced to trade Polanco and fill his spot with a FA, thus saving no money but getting two prospects and a minor league pitcher. The Twins choose the last option, and that would have been the last option I choose.- 133 replies

Resolving the Apparent Infield Logjam
TwinsDr2021 replied to stringer bell's topic in Minnesota Twins Talk
I disagree with this, he was traded for basically Santana, Topa, DeSclafani and two minor league players. If that that was the return I would rather they didn't even pick up his option, and used the 10.5 in a difference spot. IMO the FO thought he was worth more than he was.- 133 replies

Resolving the Apparent Infield Logjam
TwinsDr2021 replied to stringer bell's topic in Minnesota Twins Talk
Arraez - .254/.347/.317 Polanco - .196/.318, .304 Not great but trending up, Arraez has raised his average 70 points in 8 games, and Polanco has raised his OPS by over 100 in the same time. Arraez would be tied for 2nd on the Twins with his OBP and Polanco would be 4th, Arraez 3rd in BA, and Polanco at .196 would be tied for 5th with Julien.- 133 replies

Resolving the Apparent Infield Logjam
TwinsDr2021 replied to stringer bell's topic in Minnesota Twins Talk
I am not going to say the last FO was excellent or even all that great but shambles, really? This FO walked in with following players Berrios, Gibson, Sano, Buxton, Kepler, Arraez, Garver, Rogers, Pressly (used to get Alcala), Rosario, Dozier, Escobar (used to get Duran), Polanco, a top minor league system with Gordon, AK, Gonsalves, Romero, Jay, Stewart, Mejia, Jorge, Ynoa, Hildenberger, Thorpe, Baddoo, Jax, Wade, Rortvedt, Chargois and more. The second year they were here the made the playoffs. Lets be real honest the main contributors to this years team so far are the former front office players, trading former front office players and free agents. Don't get me wrong I do give them credit for trades regardless if it the former FO guys (Arraez, Pressly, Rogers, and such) or their guys (Petty, Steer, etc...) You can talk about analytics and other things and I will agree with you the last one was far behind in that sort of stuff, but remember this front office job was considered the best opening back then by baseball people because of all the players talent (major and minor)- 133 replies

Hello,
I have been streaming since 2019 with Hulu, no games and $60-$70 a month.
-
That is a funny argument sure his actual stats are incredibly bad, but that doesn't mean he has been bad offensively? Like I have said before it is a SSS and predictive stats look good, so hopefully his actual stats start reflecting that. EDIT - I will add I have watched more games on TV this year than the last 3 or 4 years combined and it doesn't seem to me that he is just being unlucky.
-
I understand completely what it is, and it is a predictive tool for hitters, using exit velocity, launch angle and topped or weakly hit balls sprint speed. I also know that he has came to the plate 17 times and have gotten on base 3 times, all those stats you listed show that going forward things should be much better for him (and I hope that is true). If I am comparing two guys with bad actual stats, I want the guy going forward with the better predictive stats.
-
Well he typed "He hasn't been bad offensively " and this "Vazquez has the 4th-best xwOBA on the team behind Lewis, Correa and Kirilloff. " Not sure how to interpret it as the odds are improvement going forward? (That is how I use xwOBA but that isn't at all what he typed) I find it funny that that people like @RpR thumbs down facts, without an actual response as to why.
-
You are correct he hasn't been bad, he has been worse than bad (and yes it is SSS) and having Kepler, Farmer, Castro and Santana also being bad doesn't justify him. He is 2 for 15, with 1 BB and a OPS .310 (OBP .176 and SLG of .133), xwOBA is a made up stat on what is expected and not what is actually happening in the games. IMO it can be used to project how things hopefully will go forward but in NO way should be used to replace what has actually has happened on the field.

Dodgers 6, Twins 3: Too Little, Too Late
TwinsDr2021 replied to Ted Schwerzler 's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Why, the Twins cut the payroll spending by 20% or something, and the price of attending went up? I can see why that would make people shy away, I honestly believe it is some combination of that and the weather, how the game is played, the timberwolves, being downtown and the lack of seeing them on TV. My best Twins fans friends have said it is kind of a weight and see, if things are looking good they will end up going to games this summer, but if they are a .500 team chasing teams in the Central then they will probably spent their money elsewhere.- 44 replies

Dodgers 6, Twins 3: Too Little, Too Late
TwinsDr2021 replied to Ted Schwerzler 's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
What was the difference that allowed Varland to face Ohtani a third time and not Ober? the score? it being the 5th and not the 6th, somebody thought we can't beat Glasnow so don't wast the pen? Was it because of the first games they pitched? Ober hadn't given up a run since the first, Varland just gave up a three run homer. I just don't get the inconsistency? And yes I would be burying Rocco if Ober game up a three run homer, but not for the reason you think (which I assume would be bringing him out in the 6th, no it would have been because he left him in long enough after giving up base runners that allowed a three run homer, so you know like he did with Varland ) EDIT Addition - I haven't complained about leaving Varland in and I only questioned why Ober was taken out the game before.- 44 replies

Everybody I know (everybody that I talk to about the Twins) say they are holding off going to games until after memorial day, For multiple reasons, payroll being #1, but the Wolves season isn't helping, just going downtown, and team is hard to watch on TV, why pay to watch it.- 44 replies

Game Thread: Dodgers vs Twins, 4/9 @ 6:40 CT
TwinsDr2021 replied to chpettit19's topic in Archived Game Threads
Need something out of Correa and Buxton tonight, this is why they are paid the big bucks, the rest of the lineup looks kind of like a minor league lineup (hopefully that lights a fire under them) -
Correct me if I am wrong but both Ohtani and Freeman came up to bat two more times and one of those times faced a 36 year old right handed relief pitcher with the game tied?

Blaming the loss on him and criticizing him for the move(s) he made are two different things. I am not blaming the loss on him, I blame that on the pathetic at bats so many of the players took. I blame him and the hitters on making the game hard to watch.
